Maybe you have to remind the groomer the next time that rabbits are different from cats and dogs. It is not their nature needing a bath...
QUOTE(Eli @ Jun 18 2010, 03:43 PM) at first the girl who was grooming hector was insisting on it, but I am very stubborn so eventually she gave in Added on June 18, 2010, 3:45 pm mei leng, i have to admit i love natural bunny smells! so nice to kiss |

Leave mommy and babies alone. The mommy knows what to do best. No, rabbits don't nurse like cats.
QUOTE(Vigilant @ Jun 23 2010, 05:37 PM) Refering to my post #970 Any experienced breeder or keeper can advice me? I don't see their moms are feeding them regularly. FYI now I keep them in the same cage with their moms. But I don't see their mom are feeding them much. Most of the time these baby bunnies are forced to feed when their mom is in standing position. Unlike cat mom, the rabbit mom doesn't lay down properly, the down/bottom side of the body of the rabbit mom is not in the correct way for the babies to feed. Any suggestion? After I have reviewed some baby rabbits picture based on their age on the internet, I assume that these littles ones are around 2 weeks old. |

It is very safe to just feed Timothy Hay be it below or above 6 months. Most pellets in the market are made up of alfalfa hay anyway. So timothy hay will help a lot in providing fiber.
QUOTE(vincentwee @ Jul 29 2010, 09:11 PM) b4 i bring back my 2 month rabbit.i ask midvalley petshop staff wat food they feed?they said timothy hay...according to page 1 n other rabbit site, 6 month below is alfafa, 6 month above is timothy.. to play safe, i gave my rabbit timothy, alfafa and pellet.all is bought from the shop.rabbit find it "home" if the food u gave them is from the shop where they ate b4...to cut long story short, my rabbit prefer eat timothy than alfafa.and she love pellet.. but ho... rabbit got eating time habit... they eat at certain time..maybe the time u see them eat....is not the time......it is a mistake u give them carrot..normally ppl give when it reach adult...don think she can digest properly....according to expert, it is not wise to give rabbit carrot...even we know bugs bunny eat carrot..but in reality...better give them pellet or hay... |

Scabies?
QUOTE(Vigilant @ Aug 14 2010, 11:36 PM) Took em to vet, its not mange... that was just an assumption. But it's still somekind of infection and required the doctor to give injections. Their parents dont have this, only 2 (baby bunnies) out of 6 of total of my rabbits have this. I don't intentionally breed them, I had them caged/roam separately for each gender. But sometimes carelessness just happen When I said vet is expensive, I'm refering to the vets nearby, they are generally expensive, there are others (vet) that is more keen on healing animals than racking up profits, but most are far away. Other than rabbits I have cats too, so meeting a vet isn't really a rare ocassion |

rule of thumb is, stick with what works for you....
I still stand by my opinion that chopped hay is pretty useless....think of gut motility especially the peristalsis process.... QUOTE(malaysiangroup @ Aug 27 2010, 11:32 PM) hi guys....after a long gap im back !!! earlier i was using oxbow chopped timothy hay for my bunnies.....in the meantime i read from a member's blog that non-chopped timothy makes better alternative compared to chopped one ..... now i hve switched to non-chopped timothy from chubbys pet garden, that too 3 kg bulk order, but now i regret for buying chubbys non chopped cos my bunnies jus wasting half of the timothy coz it serves as a zig-zag lengthy one, making difficult them to manage with the hay...but i still remember my bunnies were comfortable and almost emptied the bowl ( oxbow timothy). |
