@frega: where to get info of all available race trait & specials? which race is best for engineering class?
*
Uh, *looks for post on traits* yep it's still there... Just above your post RoloTomasi... What are you? Blind?! mad.gif You're relieved from duty crewman. Report to Sickbay at once!

I joke of course lol tongue.gif

The link in my earlier post directs you to a list which all the generic racial traits. And btw, were you asking for me or frega blink.gif

And to be fair the game isn't out yet, so its really hard to say what's the best race/class combination at this point in time. Even with that list I provided, most of its mechanics are still untested (or if they are tested they have not yet been discussed in any public forums), so until we see how it applies to the game we won't know for sure.

Here's a video for the character creator, hopefully it'll help some of you http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jIRGoVMARTc

And here's a list from that video (courtesy of OwnNav from JupiterColony, http://www.jupitercolony.com/viewtopic.php?f=11&t=2796), so you don't have to keep clicking pause.

Classes
Engineering - Survivability, support generators, and controlling the paths of enemy advance with fieldworks. The Engineering Officer can withstand the most damage by improving the performance of their own personal shields, while supporting his away team with power generators or by bottlenecking the enemy's advance with defensive minefields. The Engineer's own combat effectiveness is improved by modifications to their firearms or support fire from fabricated turrets and drones.

Science - Weakening or incapacitating the enemy over time, erecting energy fields that damage or hinder, and healing their away team from such effects. The Science Officer has the greatest potential to quickly react to a chaotic combat situation through direct enemy holds, weakening an enemy group's combat strength or resistance, or responding to enemy attacks by quickly healing damage. The Science Officer's combat effectiveness is their versatility.

Tactical - Combat damage, stealth recon, and squad tactics. The Tactical Officer can deliver damage in the widest variety of methods, while supporting his away team by drawing off enemy threat or bolstering their combat effectiveness with tactics and squad commands.

Races Available
Human - Leadership 10% Crew Powers, Teamwork 5% Team Bonus to Exploit Damage
Andorian - Acute Senses 20% StealthSight
Bajoran - Creative 5% Damage and Healing with Kits, 10% Heals Received, 10% Regeneration

Also you get a total of 4 traits it looks like. So Humans will get to select two from the pool below, Andorians three, etc.

*Only affects certain things

I may have missed some of the *, if I did let me know and I'll correct. Also I noticed three types of traits: Innate, Enhancement, and Passive. I'm not sure what the difference between the three is. I thought Passive meant all the time non activated trait, but some of the passives listed have times associated with them :? At least we can pick what traits we want though! Cheers

Yep that's one of the most comprehensive lists out there. To those of you who are going to play, please leave your Cryptic @handle name, so we can meet up biggrin.gif. Also feel free to list your race/career/ship choices. Lets keep the discussion alive people smile.gif

Hate to break it to you, but you can't play a Klingon... they're not part of the Federation... I suppose you could custom build a Klingon though.

Ah and a slight elaboration to that - Federation Klingon peace treaty ended, thus igniting a war - so it is in these desperate times that we join the Federation - Klingons are available for play but they're very pvp-centric (they only lvl from PvP) and I do think you need to play Starfleet for a while before unlocking Klingon content.

i think klingon faction is available at start.

http://www.startrekonline.com/node/784

http://www.startrekonline.com/node/792

they just lack pve content. need to choose one of klingon house and pvp each other. in fed space only consent pvp. open pvp in neutral area.

i want bird of prey. can cloak in combat. and klingon ship can fit more tactical officer than fed ship.

p/s ah yes need to unlock it. for around five hrs of fed gameplay. and begin at same rank of fed char that unlock the content.

Haha, Klingon's are more warlike compared to the Federation. I do however think that The U.S.S. Prometheus would at least be at par if not more powerful than any Klingon Vessel.

Have you made an account on Cryptic yet RoloTomasi? If so what's your @name there?

I'm sorry, I don't quite understand your question. How do you mean "like an old Interplay Star Trek game"?

Lets see, STO is first and foremost online tongue.gif (duh), so you'll get to create your own character/ avatar, you'll also get to customize your own ships. Its combat interface will be approximately 50/50 space combat and ground combat (away missions). Space combat will lean more to a tactical combat scenario where you'll have to weaken the enemy's ship with phasers and destroy the hull with photon torpedoes. Ground combat is more fast paced, comparing it to WoW would be a crude comparison, it takes up its combat engine from Champions, so its quite fast paced, not much downtime. There will also be chances in the game to partake in non combat situations, such as a research mission to save a planet from a disease (if I'm not mistaken).

Did that in anyway answer your question?

I can totally relate! I love Voyager too, where's my Seven of Nine! Why Amazon?! Why?!

LoL, coming back to the topic at hand, I saw the Chronodynamic Armor on Steam as well. Do think that's a better bonus than the one from D2D? It's apparantly a constantly regenerating personal shield which also heals you.

With regards to race, I'll probably make a unique race, or just go human for their unique racial trait (I believe it's Leadership, a passive +5% damage? to the crew). Hmm, about your decision to make a Betazoid with telekinesis, is that a concept? or for the ability? TK doesnt seem to do much, 7ft knockback on a 1 min cooldown.

BTW, here's a link the list of traits you can choose, it however does not list unique racial traits (such as my example earlier, Human Leadership)

Oh and you guys should check out STOked on youtube for some inside beta info. And here's their forum, for those of you who are interested www.jupitercolony.com

For the ability of cos. I think the knockback will be good since I'll be Science/Science. Not sure I'll be pewpewing much as science. So its good for maybe when an ******* keep focusing me, a defensive move.
