I got rejected by Standard Chartered for their Credit Card and Personal Loan.

The representative said that because I don't have any loan or other cards so the bank sees me as high risk.

Does that me I have to get a car loan first ??
*
If you don't have a loan or a credit card,so it means that you don't have a record with CCRIS..means that they cant trace any proof of income from you..and they label you as high risk..

Getting a car loan first will certainly help, because it requires a guarantor,in which cc doesn't need one..

Otherwise, just try EON,Alliance,Affin,Public or any other local banks(except Maybank)..it will be easier than SCB..

Among the Credit Card, I really hope I can get HSBC and UOB..  tongue.gif
*
Yes they do have a quota..but actually this year is abit more easier to apply credit card, due to the RM50 GST...so its like there is no quota at all..every day of the month is easy to apply.. rclxms.gif

*

thats one thing..maybank wont simply approve applicants..they will check very thoroughly..first timer cc applicants can hardly get maybankard at the first try..

shocking.gif  serious? my salary goes into RHB..so apply RHB shouldn't be a problem?  biggrin.gif
*
Even if my salary is credited to my mbb acc,i didn't wana apply for maybank cc..their only useful card is the ikhwan petronas cc..

It will be easier to apply back RHB..because they can check from ur savings acc..so thats your proof of income..

but RHB credit cards...hmm... hmm.gif

Well you can apply frm RHB and use it for abt 6 mths then use that card to apply another bank..

then you can cancel the RHB card.. tongue.gif

I'd agree that the DA card is ugly. But it's better than having pretty shiny cards with ugly bloated balances wink.gif

Frankly speaking, there is nothing to shout about if you own a platinum card from CIMB, although it is one of the largest banks in Malaysia.
*
Mine is just a classic..certainly nothing to shout about if u have a plat..but sure is better to have a plat than a classic..

I own Platinum CCs because they are all FOC. If the AFs are non-waivable, I don't mind to downgrade my cards to Classic.

Agree to what the folks here are saying. If you use it then OK ... otherwise it is just a piece of plastic. And it is an excuse for the bank to charge you more AF. I just can't understand the fascination with Gold and Plat cards.

Back then we had to EARN it, PERIOD. No such thing as asking/demanding the bank to upgrade the existing card. Now ... everyone can get a Plat/Gold card. So ... does the value / prestige really exist if everyone carries one ?
*
I'm just saying having a plat card at least is better than a classic card..i know its just a piece of plastic if i don't utilize it..

its not really pretigious to hv a plat card now...almost everyone has it..visa infinite and worldcard is very prestigious..
