Guys, i am about to buy a new SONY VAIO CW26 series laptop and i have a question about the 0% installment scheme offered by some banks. The computer shop i went to told me that they do not impose any additional charges for payment by credit card. I was also told that if i have credit card from either Maybank, HSBC or Public Bank, i am entitled for the 0% installment scheme.
The laptop i plan to buy is priced at RM3,999 and if divided by 12-month
(interest free), it means i'll have to pay RM333.25/month. But how come the SONY magazine and even Best Denki quoted that i'll have to pay RM334/month instead ? If i have to pay RM334/month as advertised in SONY magazine and Best Denki's flyer, the total sum is RM4,008 instead of RM3,999, which is RM9 more. How can that be called 0% interest then ?
Sorry came in late.
Here's how the installment system works.
The merchant need to key in the item value which is RM3,999 and the terminal will ask whether the merchant wish to have it on 12 months installment. If yes, the system will divide the payment equally. Nothing to be worried about actually so long the merchant key in RM3,999 and not RM4,008 as the value.
If I'm not mistaken ... all this info will be reflected in your cc slip that you sign. Check that out as well.
Yes ... likely the brochure uses a rounded up figure.
