Not wrapped. It has a thin white 'tissue paper' protective layer on one side and bare fibreglass on the other side.
I intend to plaster them over and paint them to ensure the fibers don't come loose as an added preaution.
During the initial insatl, I applied the latex glue to the sides and entire back area to bind them.
This is the actual product.

Bought her a new freezer and a 'transformer' type sofa which she always wanted. whistling.gif
The sofa came yesterday and it improved my HT bass response too rclxms.gif
The old (L shaped traditional 2seater plus 3 seater) one was in the way of the subwoofer output.
Last night retested again after Audyssey and the result drool.gif icon_idea.gif
Now I am running the sub at 75dB without any increase and the LFE is still insane. rclxm9.gif
Should have changed the sofa earlier

I changed from the traditional 2+3 seater with arm rests, in fabric, arranged in an L configuration, to a staright 10' long 5 seater in half-leather.
The subwoofer was located at the top of the long arm of the L and the arm rest was blocking the output.
The new set allows the subwoofer to have lot's of room to breathe and the difference is astounding.

I have the PC-12NSD. with downward firing driver and the port on top.
Yes the arm rest was facing the sub with a space of about 2 feet separating them.

The sofa made a quantitative difference whilst the DIY bass trap made a qualitative impact !

Let's just say the difference in sound from the PC12 is enough for me to go through my movie collection again.
Also the wallet needs to recuperate from the X'mas cheers, sofa, freezer and new gas stove.

Maybe next month...dual sub with PB13-Ultra and SB13-Plus?

OT: check out my new sofa in Your Home Theater Set Up. nod.gif

Added on December 30, 2010, 9:52 amWas watching New Daughter last night.
Does anyone else feel the LFE is pretty good in this movie
At 1hr 37 min, when he went down into the mound, there is a sustained LF pressure for about 3 mins.
Could feel my eardrums being pressurized...It is not loud but sustained.
I have new found respect for my entry level PC-12 notworthy.gif ...it didn't have the proper environment to shine previously.

i totally agree... a week ago i moved my ht gear into my bare ht room.. i hooked up my speakers and they were awful!!! .. 3 days back carpet was installed for the floor and i moved my lazyboy and diy bass traps into the room and there was a huge improvement.. i only have only completed 3 bass traps now (rockwool 100kg/cubic meter), hopefully i will complete the other 9 soon..  i have to admit they look awful coz i gave the hardware shop the wrong size for the wooden frame so now my frame is smaller than the rockwool.. thats y my bass trap have rounded edge now heheh .. i followed this video for instructions http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iyYUpkpL0gw  .. sory just seen the link i provided is the same as yours just that it is in youtube instead of pdf file

What type of cloth are you using and where do you source them?

Within an enclosed room, the sub will of course sound loud. Make sure it not BOOM you are hearing tho'
Room treatment will make it sound better, less boom and reverb. Also reduce the null and nodes.

Completed another 3 bass traps yesterday for another forum member from the balance of the acoustic ceiling panels.
Now I am in two minds as to whether I should keep it or sell it as agreed.
I placed them at the other 3 corners of my hall and the difference is drool.gif
Previously, listening to David Foster and friends, I needed to turn down the sub by up to -2dB to -4dB but now it is just right at neutral (75dB).
Have new found love for my PC12. It is much tighter with much better definition rclxms.gif
The sound stage is deeper and wider and the mid range so much crisper now.

Guess I'll have to make another 3 as I have already agreed to sell the bass traps.

The material cost is not much, it's the time andeffort ivolved in gathering the materials together.
Luckily,I have managed to source all I need in the area where I work.
Just need time to put them together, the end result of DIY is most gratifying smile.gif

Had a chance to visit max last Sunday for some play time.
The lfe has more information. Whereas previously, there was just high spl, now there is added bass information too.

The bone crushing effect is more pronounced than before in the IpMan2 boxing scene and more gut wrenching.

One thing tho, the shaking of the sofa is more unidirectional, ie, always starts from the left. The overall sonic experience is incredible with the DSX wide and height enabled.

When I got home, I felt I was listening to a mini combo in comparison.

The spl is at 75 dB calibration, not running hot at all.

TS no longer being used for the demo.
Others have superseded it.
Max, you should use the Tai Lun vs Furiopus Five fight sequence. The landing of Tai Lun is beyond words !!

It is so much easier wit a cylinder...just tilt and roll it along the base.
Yes REW is indeed useful and surprisingly, rather easy to learn.
It appears daunting at first, but there's lots of online help available.
Once one uses it a couple of times, it is very simple actually.
