Bought the PC12-NSD after much research and numerous trips to AV shops for auditioning.
Shakes my sofa and rattles my plaster ceiling shocking.gif

Spent the whole of Sunday going thro' King Kong, Matrix, T2 ROTF and Terminator Salvation.
It gives a whole new 'visceral' experience to the show notworthy.gif

Thanks to HTkaki for the delivery and calibration.
The surround sounds so much better and integrated after that.
Finally feels like I am having a 7.1 system thumbup.gif

Tho' it was out of my initial budget of <2K, there was just too many good reviews and user feedback for me to ignore.

Burn in?? hmm.gif ....you didn't mention this
So I listened at my usual level of 50-52 onb my onky 607 sweat.gif
Shouldn't be a problem I hope.

OTOH, the figure 50hours seems to ring a bell whistling.gif
What level should one use during the burn in period?

Last night I played Terminator Salvation's gas station scene and was lirerally blown away shocking.gif shocking.gif
This is the first time I felt infrasonic bass in my home notworthy.gif
And this is just the DVD version. Can't wait to lay my hands on the BD
The sofa was giving me a back massage each time the mecha took a step forward and the rumble of the tow truck is astounding.
I am so glad I busted my budget to get this PC12-NSD.
It is worth every sen.
My son cringed in fear watching *ahem* DVD9 version of Jurassic park too. And he's 10 years old doh.gif
To anyone in the market for a sub, this is one you must not miss. thumbup.gif

When Max@htkaki calibrated my system with the spl meter, 75db reference level was equivalent to 59 on my onky 607.
I usually watch at the 50 mark.
How will this translate, in terms -db levels?

I have the 607 and need to go thro' the manual again.
Thanks for the heads up!

Anfield sifu, I don't have SPL to test. But it sounds good to me.  sweat.gif
1st audyssey run: sub trim -2db, manual setting 1db
2nd audyssey run: sub trim -3db, manual setting 0db

I would rerun audyseey later as it was raining that time.
Audyssey trims on other speakers were pretty consistent tho.

There was one time, the volume was put at -10 for like an hour with "This is it".
I didn't notice it until I looked at AVR. The sound was loud but clean and no distortion.
*
Actually, reading thro' the post, ronaldjoe bumps up the sub gain by 3dB over the audyssey setting and not by 6dB.
Hence the confusion I think!

I need to turn down the sub gain by at least a couple of dB from the one set by audyssey, whilst watching concerts for the bass to integrate well with the music. Otherwise, it seems to be playing separately and distinct from the music score.
For movies, need to crank up by 3 dB to really enjoy the slam. Is this appropriate ?
What about you guys?

My base setting is -5dB via audyssey and spl calibration.
For movies, crank up to -2dB. (locked in the avr)
For concerts, down to -7dB.

Actually, I did move the sub a little deeper into the corner which seemed to improve the bass response.
Was able to 'feel' it at my prime seating position.

Will adjust phase and see if it helps. Thanks for the suggestion.
The corner placement is the only position that's ideal at the moment. So will not move it unless absolutely necessary.

Does anyone have any experience with REW from the HometheatreShack?
If I wanna just measure my room response, do I need the BFD too?
Thanks.

No need to use BFD for room response checks. BFD is necessary if u are planning to add filters for equalization.

Let me know what help u need with REW.

Get an external soundcard or a soundcard that has a separate line in and line out. Thats vital.

Enjoy REW.

Also of course u need a SPL Meter. Radioshack for response up till 3KHz. Galaxy CM-140 for response up to 15kHz.

Gong Xi Fa Chai,
Thanks for the advise and the kind offer of help. Really appreciate it
Looks like I'll have to get the sound card and spl meter first.
Any suggestion as to the make and model of the sound card and the est fair price?
This HT virus is slowly getting an obsessive hold over me rclxub.gif

Matrix revisit with the nsd. The machine gun and the slow motion kf really good. Happy with my choice

Rewatched all my rather limited BD collection and it's a 'moving' experience with the PC12.
Even the *ahem* bd ripped DVD 9 sounds and feels like I'm in a THX certified cinema hall

For the PC12-NSD with a diameter of 16", which one would you guys recommend.
My sub is located in a corner and rattles my plaster ceiling located at the rear 1/2 of my hall.
Will the isolation platform reduce or eliminate this?
Thank you.

Thanks for the hospitality.
I was surprised by the sheer size of the PB Ultra13. It needs a dedicated HT room for it to shine methinks.
The bass was so well controlled and tactile. My PC12-NSD sounds anemic in comparison.
I was pleasantly surprised at how well it integrated with music.
I think the positioning plays a big part. Mine is corner loaded due to space constraints and I guess it overwhelms the music. Tweaking is in the works now.
I was thinking a another PC12-NSD for the other corner, but after listening to this monster, I am torn at maybe getting just one of this 13Ultra to replace the PC12. Any comments?

Got the subdude earlier today. does help with the vibrations.. very effective i say.. i don't mind living with a lil vibrations at times.. still an improvement.

boss, if i want to measure my sub's FR, do i need a bass test disc or is it available in the 1910?
*
Mind telling me where and how much you got the subdude for?
PM me if's it's not appropriate for open forum.
Thanks.

I thought any sound card also can work. ??
*
The sound card needs to have a dedicated line in and line out.
Also a Radio Shack SPL meter for measuring.
The REW runs best on WinXP as does the sound cards.
My laptops all running either Vista or Win7, so I gave up after a while and just enjoyed whatever I have.
Simple sound calibration with the SPL meter after audyssey EQ and the set up already sounds great.
The REW for me was just to satisfy my curiosity and need to update myself.
Maybe when I get my dedicated HT room will I try and complete the journey of discovery.

klimal, have you actually tried running the rew program on your win 7 and see if it works?
*
No I have not. Like I said, I gave up as my laptops on Win7 and the sound cards are for XP or vista.

Max htkaki,
Last night watched Monsters vs Aliens and the lfe is amazing shocking.gif .
Especially the scene where the probe is walking.
Each step sents a deep shudder thro' my room.
My plaster ceiling was rattling so much,I had to reduce the subwoofer's gain by 3db at the avr side.
I usually it hot by 3 db for movies.
Guess my next project is to either remove the ceiling or reinforce it.
Any suggestions?
I need the subdude as a temp measure. Hope it works tho'

Thinking of letting go my display unit of PC12-Plus (never been used) to make way for other new subs as I am running out of space.

Probably keeping PB13-Ultra, PB12-Plus and PB12-NSD and a PC12-NSD. Then, shall have SB10-NSD, SB12-NSD, and SB13-Plus along with BOA-TA150 pwr amp and new S-02 series bipole surr spkrs.
*
Can I trade in my unit for the PC-12+ ?? nod.gif
In any casr, pls pm me your best price.
Can dipoles be used in a 7.1 system as side surrounds?
Last night, my dog toppled one of my side surround speakers and the tweeter is now badly dented.
Thanks.

In fact, I thought the subs were not switched on.
But they were pushing out massive volume of air when I went near them.

My PC12-NSD at 11 0'clock and the avr sets it to -8 dB.
Should I turn the the sub's knob down to say 10 o'clock position and try to get -6 to -4 dB at the avr?
Alternative leave it as is and run it hot by 3 dB.
Please advise
Thank you.
