I've been using the SVS AS-EQ1 for some time now and I think it is a fantastic piece of equipment. Bass is much more refined compared to Standard Audyssey Multi EQ XT and well controlled. I would recommend those looking for accurate bass to give it a try and its an absolute must for those with 2 or more subs! |

QUOTE(htkaki @ Mar 11 2010, 10:56 PM) The one area which I think the SVS AS-EQ1 is very good is in the way it controls the bass for concerts. Typically, there will be room nodes and peaks and valleys. These peaks tend to make people like the bass when watching movies as it builds up in your room. The problem happens when you watch a concert, suddenly the bass guitars sound too boomy. As I use a ported sub, the SVS AS-EQ1 improves the bass response such that the concerts sound so much better. The bass guitar notes now stand out as if they were being struck, when there is boominess the guitar string being struck is normally lost. If u r the kind that just wants bass, u might not appreciate it, but those who are meticulous will know what I mean. |

QUOTE(klimal @ Apr 4 2010, 10:31 PM) Max Honestly, if u are into movies, there is no such thing as too much bass. The bigger the better. Better yet, get a pair. And get a SVS AS-EQ1 to equalize them! Thanks for the hospitality. I was surprised by the sheer size of the PB Ultra13. It needs a dedicated HT room for it to shine methinks. The bass was so well controlled and tactile. My PC12-NSD sounds anemic in comparison. I was pleasantly surprised at how well it integrated with music. I think the positioning plays a big part. Mine is corner loaded due to space constraints and I guess it overwhelms the music. Tweaking is in the works now. I was thinking a another PC12-NSD for the other corner, but after listening to this monster, I am torn at maybe getting just one of this 13Ultra to replace the PC12. Any comments? For serious music, thats another thing altogether. |

QUOTE(htkaki @ Apr 7 2010, 09:26 AM) It had sailed out. Waiting for principal to reply on the eta port date. Normally, takes abt 5-8 working days to get it in. 2.8K is a very good price range for those looking to start into the AV. Thats where most of the competition is.I am hoping the SB10-NSD would be a 'killer' when it's being launched. Probably around RM2.8K range or lower. |

QUOTE(mpyw @ Apr 13 2010, 03:47 PM) Amazon US is selling the Velodyne SMS-1 (Room correction/bass management like SVS EQ-1) for only $399..... I believe the SMS-1 only does one position and 8 band PEQ whereas the AS-EQ1 does 32 positions and has much more resolution that a 8 band PEQ. Also the main benefit of the AS-EQ1 is the ability to treat each sub individually and apply filters whereas the SMS-1 would sum it up. |

QUOTE(mikapoh @ Apr 14 2010, 06:30 PM) You wanna your whole system to be certified by SVS? I doubt. Getting these 2 guys to start getting into HD was difficult enuf..Later you need power amp to produce the sufficient juice to drive the 6ohms speakers Added on April 14, 2010, 6:33 pm Ask them to jump straight into SVS entry sub to save $$. Sure later they will upgrade! |

QUOTE(mikapoh @ May 10 2010, 08:32 PM) Why everybody seems to let go ported subs & go for SB series?? I thought sealed sub does not produce much slam in movies compare to ported sub? Maybe you all start to listen to music or watch concerts more nowadays I think its the natural progression of subwoofer....start with the big bang, then move on to accuracy...while it might not have the air build up feeling, it does deliver in terms of SPL (especially the higher end ones) and its quick. |

QUOTE(htkaki @ May 31 2010, 10:45 AM) This unit is one of the few 'prototype' and good enough to see production in near future. B&O gave some inputs on the improvement on it and tweaks have been done on this unit. More photos will be updated tomorrow on this BFS-1000TA 150W x 7 ICE power amp. You guys can sample this unit even on this weekend. mpyw, maybe I can 'loan' it to you for a few days after the press interview next week What is the expected retail price of this? |

QUOTE(htkaki @ Jun 7 2010, 09:02 AM) A friend of the uncle showed me the photo of a setup of another audiophiles. Wilson Grand Slam, a fleet of Goldmunds, Revel Ultima Salon 2, and tonnes of elite gears Great review! Will drop by within the next few weeks for a quick listen.I told him that my peasant shop will not up to his standard liao. Added on June 7, 2010, 12:21 pmHere's the review on SVS BFS-1000TA (150w X 7) Vs Emotiva XPA-5 (200w X 5). 1. Movie (Both connected to 5 channels only) Test materials : Terminator Salvation, DF & Friends, TDK SVS shines in HF. It exhibits clearer details. In TS' 7-11 scene, as Kyle walks into it, you can hear the finer details of the shoes grinding the earth. This is also noticable in DF as there is much HF details now. TDK also sounds crispier now. The vocal sounds as much the same. SVS seemingly a tad wider. The mid-bass punch is greater in SVS than Emo. It is tighter. This is only marginally better. On power, both also as similar with no distinct difference. Note that it is on power-hungry MTS-01 system. I thought that the 50W difference would yield a difference. I did not calibrate the channel level when switch to SVS. On Pure Direct : (Both being connected to 2 inputs only) Test materials : Planet Drum, Jennifer Warnes - The Hunter, Aaron Neville - Warm Your Heart, and Michael Buble - It's time. WOW! It sounds a whole lot louder than Emo. That's strange The SVS sounds larger than life. It is very forward sounding with the vocal being in front. The music pieces sounds large as well. Its bass attack is tight and fast. Sort of like Krell 300Xi's signature. A bit brutal. In Planet Drum, it excels as it is able to reproduce the bass with enough power. Jennifer Warnes' Somewhere Somebody is being reproduced in a wide soundstage and it never lacks the dynamic. It kind of make you to crank louder. The HF shines again for music. Emo has a tad better refinement in vocal. It is slightly more focus but it lacks the dynamic of SVS. It's kind of a bit laid back. Since this SVS is a prototype unit and some refinement will be done on the mass production unit, I am looking forward to have the final unit Not a bad start in power amp segment. Kudos to B&O and SVS |

QUOTE(htkaki @ Jun 27 2010, 11:12 PM) You mentioned it and I didn't I hv only heard one sub that I think can match the PB13U. I wish I can test one out for music. Both of them, having auditioned the said sealed sub came to the same conclusion. Now, I knew why the 3rd elite uncle set his eyes on the PB13-Ultra to do the LFE for his music. We tested songs after songs with the PB13-Ultra in 'sealed' configuration. Volume range from -12dB right up to -5dB. I guess they want to know whether distortion is an issue when being driven loud. It holds well and balanced. Next, I shall take the SVS sub over to their hi-fi room to test out. By then, the poison has gone one step further We did test out the sub in 'sealed' setting for concerts esp DF & Friends. They like it very much. One of them commented that the vocals are very clear and that the sound is very well calibrated. I am flattered lah Maybe I shd just take the plunge..... |

QUOTE(jchong @ Jun 28 2010, 07:45 AM) Submersive. It can match in output but the tactile feel might be different.PB13U setup correctly, IMHO running in sealed mode shd get u close to the Submersive. The oppposing driver design reduces distortion even more so in my opinion and reduces the need for further isolation. But then as mpwy said, its a different price range. I really also agree that at the PB13 price, its really difficult to beat. I wonder if running 2 in sealed mode would be even better. |

QUOTE(htkaki @ Jul 2 2010, 09:46 AM) Will try 4 subs setup. Each at a corner. Let me see..... 2x 13-Ultra in front and 2x 12-Plus at the back. Enough subs to do that htkaki,If I do set it up, I'll ring up ronaldjoe to come and test Try with 3 subs for now. Try putting the 3rd one halfway in the room. If I come around, we can check with REW. |

QUOTE(htkaki @ Jul 20 2010, 02:30 PM) Updates : Post ur impressions of the SB13 as well.» Click to show Spoiler - click again to hide... « Will test out the SB10-NSD and SB12-NSD later. The all new PC12-Plus and PC13-Ultra will have to wait til on the eve of KLIAV. I wonder what will be the improvements for the 800W PC12-Plus and 'steriod-pumped' 1000W on the PC13-Ultra. |

QUOTE(squall_12 @ Jul 24 2010, 12:34 AM) Bro, ur Canton how?Good choice. I had the chance to listen to the new SB13, SB12 and the tiny SB10. I'm impressed with the series. The sealed subs definately show the mettle during the concerts with good output and low overhang. I also like the new amps. However, the SB13 and SB12 are currently in production as per what Ron told us, the SB10 maybe later in the year. |
