First, you need to have the router's login password.

Just block the following ports for both of TCP & UDP.

64430
17788
1900 *
8400
3478 *
8800 *
7201 *

* you can choose not block this ports. As PPStream more depends on port 17788, 8400 & 64430

My router is Dlink Di-524, with an original firmware

PPS is buffering...

Block the PPS Servers' ports

Now try to watch another movie, makes it reconnects to the server

Now, PPS failed on connecting to its server!

Tested on 2 pcs, which installed of the latest of PPS and they failed to stream the movie now... whistling.gif
NOTE: If it works, your skunk housemate may opted an alternative... So, please share with me what you have found... nod.gif

And also for UDP 7202, but TCP port is dynamic

Only 64430 falls on dynamic range. UDP is usually for streaming media purpose, so in this case i believed that TCP is prior than UDP.
Therefore we need to block the initial connections from it's server, to make them cant connect with each other.

Does it really matter if the TCP port is dynamic ?

PPStream will connect to its server before itself connecting to p2p. So the ports of reaching to the server must be blocked and those ports are consistency, so no problem for here.

Erm, block inbound or outbound? Coz my modem is DSL 2640T, has the same function but has inbound and outbound options.

EDIT: I just blocked 7201 to 64430 port outbound, both TCP and UDP and now PPS doesn't work anymore! Woohoo!

Just block the site addy.... doing this blocking port nonsense will cause ur roommate to screw around with the modem n such. Block the site... n when he ask why cannot access u tell him must be tm prob cause u cant access too... either that or assign QOS to PPS.

if u got dd-wrt router is the best, i make the mac priority qos to limit the download limit 3000kbps and upload limit 256kbps and priority of http port 80 to the highest and it does not affect my net surfing while my mom stream pps smoohtly.. also my bro's fps online game juz increase ping from 80 to 100ms which is no obvious delay when my mom stream pps.. dd-wrt rocks XD

If PPS implement the option to change port number, then your ways won't work anymore.

Edit: Eh no. PPS already has this function.

Excuse me, I have recently bought a TP-Link W8960N modem router. It has the QoS feature, but how do i limit the bandwidth that my housemate is using? Because he's using pps for 24 hours, and i wish to just slow him down, no need to block everything. Please help. I can't find any solutions.

For those using Unifi with stock DIR-615 router, it is very easy to block off PPS using the router. Just go to "Advanced" - "Filter Rules". Then get the MAC address of the client whom u wanna block. Block port from 1900 to 64430. Save Setting and Reboot router. They can now surf normally, but PPS will be blocked!

Here's a screenshot:
Attached Image

The best thing is during low-peak hour when you allow PPS you can always uncheck the tick box, and re-check whenever you need the bandwidth again, and act like nothing happened ...... whistling.gif

Worked for me ...... thumbup.gif

so no point to block like this
i would suggest block port range if you really wan to block

Added on June 4, 2012, 1:15 pmi would advice to block port 1024~65535
and exceptionally allow port that u need to access to like 8443 or etc if you need those for other http services or like mysql on 3306 etc

Hi,

I would suggest that you look at OpenDNS.
Get a Free Home OpenDNS account and configure your network.
Block DNS port on the router for those IP. Enable DNS relay on the Router to 208.67.222.222 and 208.67.220.220.
A lot of School and Organization are using DNS to filter.

Hope this works.
