Hi angelatan, I don't agree with you that silverformalaysia and merlip doesn't drop price when silver price drop. Because I monitor them a few times a day over the period of 4 weeks especially when price drop. Both of them update very frequently. You can check it out time to time to verify what I say smile.gif Forgive me for that cause I'm a full time investor for commodity, shares and properties, so i will be all time tracking price to get the cheapest source smile.gif

In fact, the best day to do comparison is on Saturday and & Sunday when the spot market close. Let's do another comparison for today since the spot market has closed. So this would be the most accurate as of now smile.gif This time i'm going to add in few more suppliers to compare investment bullion coin and bar.

23-7-2011

merlip.lot.my
Not too sure what happen this two days, his store doesn't show any products and price. Maybe can compare again next Sat
1cheapsilver.com
american eagle = RM 163.40 (without cover)
                      = RM 165.20 (with cover)
tube price (20 piece) = RM 3268 (no need cover as they will provide tube)

1oz Sunshine Minting Bars = RM 143.10
20 * 1oz Sunshine Minting Bars = RM 2862
GoldChan Ebay store
20 * 1oz Sunshine Minting Bars = RM 2790 (significant difference for bulk)
silverformalaysia.com
american eagle = RM 165 (with cover) ** I'm not sure if they can go without cover
tube price (20 piece) = RM 3220 (significant difference for tube)
clickgold2u.com
american eagle = RM 170 (with cover)

** Price doesn't go according to spot price. But if spot price goes up another USD2-3 and if they remain with this price, then this could be a good source for loose ounce smile.gif
** You also can find american eagle in different years like 1986, 1999 here as well smile.gif
silveray.lot.my
american eagle = RM 169 (with cover)

** Price doesn't go according to spot price. But if spot price goes up another USD2-3 and if they remain with this price, then this could be a good source for loose ounce smile.gif
I do not factor in the postage for all the above sellers cause some can have COD and some don't. Some give free delivery for tubes and some don't. You can check it out with them if you want to know more.

Please share more if you come across other local suppliers so that we can always source for the cheapest silver in town !!

Hi Beginner2011, And ALL silver and gold buyer/seller

Great post!! Should have seen this and save me hours of finding local site for selling gold and silver. I'm also a beginner here and would like to start. But I guess I'm a long term investor, not collector.

How about besides sharing where to buy and what to buy, is there a site here we can team up and start offering to each other authentic gold or silver? I read some of you have hard time selling off kilobars of silver for example. I am looking to buy 1. Or some may be having a hard time selling some of their collection but it takes lots of time to browse thru all the postings.

Is there such a site for people like us to trade with one another without using the spread? For example Silver selling at RM 140 per Oz and buying at 120 per Oz, we can deal at RM 130 per Oz and we both walk off a winner!!

Do PM me if this site exist here or anywhere, if not, can we start it somewhere? a thread just for us helping each other to buy and sell without going thru middle man? But all receipt or packaging must be authentic.

Just a suggestion from a newbie.

Hi all,

Anyone bought any 1kg silver bar from 1stopgold lately? Do they have stock in hand at the moment or are they currently collecting monies with a deal of a later delivery date. If so, when is the next shipment due?
*
They still have a few pcs left, but heard there's a new shipment coming in later this month, so no worry about stocks issue. I think I will buy 1 kilo when it reach RM 4,100 or something, it's almost there.

Yup, they really are the cheapest in the market. Do you know anyone selling canadian maples silver cheapest in singapore and malaysia? why aren't the maples price highest? since their purity is 9999, I would have thought they command higher premiums.

Sorry, still new to this, but bought quite a few bars from goldchan and some pamp suise silver, now I will complete my investment/collection with 1 pc of kilo bar and some coins.

Added on August 9, 2011, 11:03 pmHey guys!!

Can anyone tell me where is the best place to buy canadian maples or koala in singapore or malaysia? so far I found the lowest price is RM 145 each with 25 x 1oz purchase. Cheaper with purchase of more than 500 pcs, but no money to buy so many lah.

Let us know o.k?

O.k. guys, it's in singapore and we have to make payment as per usual, within 24 hours, and self collection. We have to act fast in case the price jumped, how should we proceed?

By the way, as long as anyone of you are malaysian and NOT working in singapore or PR, we all get another 7% off!! so imagine RM 145 plus another RM 10 off.

So let's see if we can get a few of you, gather enough money to buy 500 pcs (I'm buying 25 maples and 25 koalas, the rest is out of stock) all meet up in singapore this few days (if you can't come, get some one to come lah, unless you trust us with the money) make the purchase and payment within 24 hours, collect the goods the next day, fly or drive out from singapore, get back the GST you paid (that's where the 7% off comes from) and we're done!!

Sorry I don't have so much money to pay for 500 pcs on your behalf, but I will drive you guys around. If you need low cost accomodation ( about SGD 90 a day) I can arrange. maybe you guys can take this opportunity to tour in singapore too and visit the universal studio! smile.gif

The price of RM 145 is base on spot price of USD 38.35. it keeps moving and are the price. I have to keep refreshing the page to get the latest total amount. I'm 1 click away to purchase, here's a quick reference :

Spot price : 38.35 (BID) 38.45 (ASK)
Canadian maple x 25pcs 1oz - SGD 58.67 each ( RM 144.33)
- total price : RM 3608.25
Koalas x 25pcs 1 oz - SGD 59.45 each ( RM 146.25)
- total price : RM 3656.25

using exchange rate of SGD 1 to RM 2.46

Total cost : SGD 2,953 (RM 7,264.38)
Minus GST tax : RM 6,755.87

We'll claim tax refund from singapore (you guys have to help me get my GST back too), it's up to you if you want to declare tax at malaysia custom, I'm not asking you to escape tax smile.gif

too much hassle and the exposure of risk is great. i'll have to pass this offer.

you can buy locally at around RM154/oz (minimum per tube) or less (at the current spot price) which i think is reasonable. and you can have it send straight to your home or COD.

well i'm just saying.....  cool2.gif
*
Actually true, although I drive in and out weekly, so it's not much hassle for me. Alternatively, I can just buy them and sell to you guys minus the hassle, start my own trading business! smile.gif not really into trading now.

That's why I'm also looking for alternative cheaper source if any in malaysia or singapore.

It may not be easy to sell to someone now, but I can imagine it will be easier once it becomes popular, as long as everyone here starts promoting silver and get more people to buy silver.

I started 2 weeks back and I can't seemed to find someone who is selling silver even at spot rate in malaysia, most of them are still selling a premium above spot (of course since everyone wants to make money)

In singapore, there are already many shops and collector buying at spot and above depending on the type of silver (like PAMP) so I'm sure it's a matter of time.

How about this, I would like to offer spot rate to anyone here who wants to sell their 1 KILO bar. either JM, PAMP or PERTH (anything else I may consider). I'm serious and anyone with one please PM me or put it out on this forum. As long as it is 999 pure silver, I'll take it as that is my final piece to complete my collection, I will sealed the vault and leave it for a few years before popping it open to see if it's still there. smile.gif

o.k o.k. guys... enough patting ourselves on our back, we are all optimistic about silver, how about some negative views? I'm sure there are some.

For example, maybe no one wants to use silver as currency, but only gold. Imagine, 1 kilo gold now cost RM 178k, can buy you a camry or estima. What if it goes up and up till RM 500k per kilo, you can buy a bungalow. But silver remains at RM 4.3k per kilo. Could this happen? I mean EVERYONE wants gold, but not silver.

I'm sure I'm alone on this view, since everyone who are in this thread WANTS to invest in silver as alternative to gold, so most of us think silver will go up, even me. But we are speculating that people will turn to silver when gold is too expensive, (and how expensive is too expensive? it may reach RM 1 million per kilo before silver starts to move)

Next, do we even have enough silver to be happy enough to "let paper currency tumble, we have enough silver to last us a life time" Even if I have 100oz or 100 kilo of silver, if money becomes useless, what do you think 1 oz of silver can buy us? 100 kilo of rice? how about water and meat? fish?

So when do we start panic buying of silver? how much silver to keep while it's still cheap now? Thinking of these makes my head spin.

Anyway, I've converted some of my savings to silver, now I'm looking at gold and chinese RMB and SGD. It's the most value to money currency to keep now as it is also under value and easily exchangeable back to RM.

Just my thoughts, as a newbie..

If Fiat currency ends, I doubt anyone of us would survive to enjoy those gold and silver we bought.

I don't mean cause its a long way to go but I meant war will break out everywhere.
*
Yup, and the war will be able oil and food. land and water.

Let's not look too far, I suspect first thing that will happen is, chinese RMB will replace USD, as they are the one with all the resources and product, so their money is worth quite a lot. Anyone who have spare cash go buy RMB now, it's lower than a few years back. The US dollar is loosing their value because they don't produce anything anymore.

RM is loosing it's value too, I've seen it falling with USD and it's very upsetting. and with the GE coming, people will pull funds out to see what happen next. so the RM will not recover anytime soon.

So in conclusion, buy gold, buy silver, buy other currency. But only with you spare cash. smile.gif

Gold and silver buyers should buy with the intention of keeping the value of your current money or hedging against inflation, and not to buy to "invest" to make money. Having incorrect psychology may cause a lot of disappointment to investors. For example:  2kg of gold worth RM350K today, can buy a medium cost condo in KL. By the time 2kg gold value doubles to RM700K, the same condo would also be worth RM700K.

Just look how long it took gold to double to today's value of $1800/oz. When it first hit $900/oz in early 2008, the same condo of RM350K today was worth about RM180-RM200K in early 2008. Similarly, a plate of RM6 mixed rice today would cost about RM3.50-RM4.00 then. Of course, not all items inflated in equal rate, but overall, except fiat currency and salary (also paid in fiat currency), almost everything else moved up in tendam.

So, do not expect the gold that can buy you a car today can buy you a house in 5 years time. But if it does happen that way, we wouldn't mind bcoz we all would have got a big bonus then.

Cheers  smile.gif

Well, I think that's why this thread is about "how to invest silver in malaysia" not how to start a collection.

But I'm just saying my thought, no intention to upset anyone... smile.gif

So personally, my intention to buy gold is not because I collect them, then I'll just buy 1 of each type of coins and bars and monitor every year when new series come out. I intend to sell them off when I need the fiat money to buy things like property or maybe other forms of investment. I'm not rich enough to buy gold now, so silver is my choice.

Anyway, it's just my own view. I'm keeping my silver hoard for a few years until I need paper currency.

But I did over purchase a few extra maples and koalas, anyone interested to buy from me? I'm going KL next tuesday and wednesday, if you are interested, I'll sell them to you guys *low yat forum people only" at RM 1 below the lowest price you can find on any malaysia website. (unless you own the website, then it don't count) smile.gif

Don't flame me please, I'm just offering. PM me please with :
1) The website you see the price
2) the price you are offering to buy
3) the number of coins you want
4) the type of coins you want (koala or maple)

Limited qty only. I reserved the right not to sell if I sold out or for whatever reason. o.k? Thanks guys!!

it's the canadian maple. and I think you are right, didn't want to open up and check if it's foam, but really looks like rubber.

Thanks lustman, let us know if you come across any.

Any of you guys seen a nicer way to display the silver? putting in tube, or air tites or PVC clear plastic doesn't do them any justice. anyway, please share the photos. Thanks..

Here's one I saw, but dunno where to get the case.

Nope,

Maybank TT charges is RM 25, you will need to TT additional USD 20 to the other side, else the amount reaching the supplier will be USD 20 lesser, Custom may cause unforseen problems when they see large amount of money on invoice, and many seller will not declare lower value for you, so you may have to pay "something extra" to clear your goods.

Looking at all these odds, I think it's better off buying locally.

From my research so far, I realised that

Bars is cheaper in malaysia
Rounds/coins is cheaper in singapore

So far this is true for now, but upon purchase, if you bring the goods to the other country (malaysia to singapore you pay 7% GST, or singapore to malaysia you pay 15% sales tax) there goes your good price.

Hi,
I think the usual way I did was cash over counters, so it's more expensive. But if you are going to buy from singapore, they are quite safe, it's a crime to sell fake silver and these being big company with millions turnover every year, they will not sell fakes. And anyway, as long as they are listed here by the borhters who have years of experience, then these company are authentic, don't worry.

Some of them allow you to pay cash on delivery, so no need to waste money on TT unless it's not singapore, but you must collect within days.

anyone know where to buy 5oz or 10oz silver bar in singapore which is not very far from spot price?  a friend is coming back from there soon, he can bring some over for me.....thanks in advance

Hi,

I was just sharing my thoughts that bars in malaysia is cheaper and rounds is cheaper in singapore. So if you are buying bars, you should consider buying in malaysia.

Anyway, what bars are you looking for? I'm also planning to buy 1 more 10oz bar, the scotts prey bar looks nice from photos, but not sure the real thing how it looks. PM me so we may buy together if you want.

I think if you have heard of the seller on this forum and people are vouching for them, then don't worry lah, should be quite safe. except extreme condition where :

1) silver market jumped to 500/oz
2) the seller went bankkrupt due to other vice
3) seller kena accident then coma
( etc, don't flame me, these are EXTREME condition smile.gif

But these seller has a reputation to keep, so they will keep their end of their bargain to get more customer.

Anyway, I'm sure if ANYONE of us get CON, please put it up like I saw the previous post, CON MAN as our signature to remind us who to not deal with.

Yup, news from kitcosilver.com saying gold price stall and silver catching up.

Another source saying JP morgan is keeping silver price low, meaning it is man made price so far, once the full market force comes into play, I doubt they can keep silver price in check at current level.

BUT please, don't go buying with your every single dime of saving, use only your EXTRA savings as I still doubt we can liquidate the silver easily when you needed the money urgently.

GOOD LUCK SILVER!! And US ALL!!

Gold already broke i t's reisstant of 184x, so it's shooting upwards to new high.

Silver? resistant as 42, so it's still a long way to go. if it doesn't break this barrier this time round, then we'll have to wait even more.

Well, it's never a good idea to chase the trend, so don't buy stocks or silver or gold when it's already climbing quickly. You may end up buying at it's peak.

That's why I was suppose to buy 20g gold bar at RM 3,200 few weeks back, now it's RM 3,700 plus, could have made a tidy sum but well, I'm not greedy. Now gold is breaking new grounds, I'll wait for my next opportunity.

I suggest that before it break the resistant, just buy in small qty like 1 or 10 oz little by little, when it start to chase after gold quickly, stop buying and for those who want to make a quick buck, sell when you think the price is right.

Good luck guys, I'll sell some but keep the rest for years later.

Silver is now pass USD 41.25, so it really is hitting the ceiling and will test USD 42. exciting moment, history in the making. smile.gif
