Some photos I took recently after my newly bought 5800XM:
Left is edited while right is original.

1. Color

Sometimes I feel that default saturation is not punchy enough and the overall color would be a little dull for me. Increase abit saturation using software improve the color alot.

2. Limited dynamic range

Sometimes shooting a subject with bright background will make the subject turned dark totally, try adjust the exposure to +1-1.5 until you seen the subject. As from this picture was recovered from shadow to show leaves but not highlights. Exposure was set to +1- 1.5(can't remember).


Too much noise when trying to recover the shadow details. Somehow weird noise pattern and I could see some square boxes noise pattern down there.

3. Good sharpness and details in sufficient light

Sharpness is good for me but highlights are still clipped.

5800 can take good pictures but make sure the light is enough and try to avoid medium-high ISO as the noise is just too much. Sometimes the camera tends to underexpose the photos in bright condition which I don't know why but overexpose them 0.5stops would be better. Flare control is quite good and I love the Zeiss branded lens

aiya, im still waiting for the ncc to call me to pick up my tube. btw, im a little bit confused bout my warranty. as far as i remember i bought my tube on 11 jan last year, but how come the warranty end 2 feb 2010? hurm..

I was impress too.

Damn cool the transmitter i can play my N97 songs on the car audio system. Quite clear but dont expect it to be CD quality

Anyway I know its not relevant to this thread but anyway what I wanna highlight is that I asked the Nokia R&D guy who knows abt the 5800 firmware update. He seems very reluctant to tell me whether or not the KS and Homescreen will come to the tube but from his response I got a feeling the update is abandoned already. I am not speculating anything but yeah.. things look pretty grim abt the next update. But who knows it might still come.. oh well

I was invited to the event but i dont have time go

Abt the KS and WGT homescreen of N5800XM .. I've read somewhere on the psychomania's article, that they're struggling on some bugs for KS enabled N5800XM is possible but faces some other hardware clashes such as camera issue after flashed KS into N5800XM .

Hope Nokia wont lets whole customers down, as I'm in Nokia forums as well, there's alots of dissatisfactions brought up.

Look like it's not as compatible, hopefully they can fix the bug. Oh well, still love my Tube, ks or no ks.

Kastor UI's effects? Then should be the same process I've mentioned before.

I can't say the same N900 is tempting for me but I will buy this one with my own money this time, so I'm saving.

I have heard abt this too actually.. I don't know where it is going but i think some of you know about the new Symbian 2 and Nokia's plans to rework the whole outlook of s60v5 right? We'll still have to see what there is to come..

anyone try the 8 shortcut and omnia homescreen? I tried all but all also doesn't work....zzz....

AFAIK I'm afraid that Nokia already announced that they will skip Symbian^2 and will go straight to Symbian^3 on their future phones. But some of the works in Symbian^2 already being backported to Symbian^1 or better known as S60v5 that is the Kinetic Scrolling and also the Widgets on Nokia N97
