Bon Odori Festival is a Japanese Buddhist observance honouring the spirits of ancestors, who return once a year to visit their families. Traditional dance is performed to entertain the spirits of the ancestors.

Penang I heard is so much fun than KL

not really to compare it face to face is a bit unfair...

lets just say that the Shah Alam's got more attendee's and moar japanese stuff sales versus penang's Hanabi

last year was sandy and dusty Bon odori... lol... hope this year wont be so dusty as last year...

and YES Penang Bon Odori is much more fun with ending Fireworks, but just dont get yourself stuck / squeeze in the lines to get yourself foods.

lazy. oversea, go thru traffic jam, parking, n freaking crowd, overprice food, yakisoba = chow mien.
though i wan to scoop gold fish, fish balloon, n enter the ghost house though.

Thought that H1N1 less people will be there, can't believe everyone is not afraid of H1N1

If you never been to Bon Odori, you will feel fun. If you been there for the past few yrs, you will find it boring.

will casual outfit suffice?

i been thr last year in kl for 1st time..all me n my fren (sum of em left..due to dusty and boring) juz.."hey..thr a babe thr..oii whr..fast go get hp num..i mean NOW!!" yes tat all..

The tudung one should stick with either casual cloth or kurung.If combine with kimono look so lolwut.

really? personally i think kimono/yukata look good with appropriate tudung, i felt like the design of kimono/yukata is like kurung/kebaya... you will look good either way you dress it...

but still it depend on the person who wear it and how they wear it... ultimately

my friend did that and she looked cute. unless if it's like wearing tudung with lolita costume, that's something totally different.

go as early as possible if u r driving to avoid long walk after the event

i went with KTM -> Bus .. convenience and more fun if you're with friends.. if car sure jam like hell.. balik that time more...

im either going by shuttle bus provided by HELP after their C2AGE at Tropicana, or tumpang fren's car

Bring a mineral water in your backpack will be the best because the stalls selling water is quite far away from the dancing stage. You might lost apart with your friends there. Its very crowded. Phone doesn't work too sometimes. No line.

Lol, I'm going too with my classmates haha. The girls will go with yukatas.

last time i went only able to park under the bridge in the roundbout, then gotta walk sommoar

Free shuttle from Shah Alam KTM station.

i think best is go park at KTM and go by shuttle.. less hassle to look for parking, unless someone tried this already and had the same result...

Hmm, always wanted to go Bon Odori in previous years but kept missing it.

The Shah Alam one ... seems you guys say got not much activity? Cos I was planning to go early like 5pm when the gates open, but if nothing to do there then like orang bodoh only wait til night ... so ... recommended for first timer go at 5-ish or at 7-ish?

Last year my friends (girls) all went with yukata in shuttle and KTM also what.
You won't be alone. Other than us there's a lot other girls wearing yukata too.

Its prefer to go early than late.

i want rent male yukata there =(

it ends at 9pm.. the shuttle bus will take you back to the KTM station, it's all planned so that you can go home by KTM without worries..
