Well that does it. By tonight I will make a report to SKMM about this. Its technically 12 days (minus Christmas day) since my last confirmation and no action.

I'll also be giving them a nice feedback along with SKMM report number just to say I'm not bluffing.

Well just now I got a call from Astro. This must be due to the awesome negative feedback I gave about their lack of service.

They told me they will check with the Astro office in my region and try to get back to me soon.

I'm not holding my breath.

I encourage you to make a report to SKMM (MCMC) and KPDN on Astro's poor service.

I'll be doing it later tonight. The more report we submit the better.

Well FINALLY I just got Byond installed at home. After ranting about sending complaints to SKMM/KPDN, I got a call from Astro installer saying they are coming. 4pm they did come and installed in less than an hour. Had no problem setting up the decoder. Picture was superb but the sound issue is there. Really need to fix it soon.

I saw 3 additional Byond sets in their van so it means in Sarawak already got stocks.

Any of you with Byond are using this dish?

I thought the new one was suppose to be slightly darker and larger than the old Astro dish. This one is connected to my Byond.

I come across an issue when I was about to return the old decoder. My original decoder went kaput some years ago and I got a replacement from someone else.

Apparently when I was about to return the decoder, the installer said they cannot take the current decoder due to serial number issue. I told them that the original decoder was faulty and he can take the one I have.

They almost delayed the installation due to this and I even offer to pay RM80 (the installer didn't know anything about this so I had to explain it to them).

In the end, they took the decoder even though the serial number is different.

So folks, make sure your old decoder is the original one that you got otherwise you could run into some problem.

Some of the movies in HBO HD aren't HD at all. I could recall movies like Naked Gun, Footloose.

Looks like there are 12 transponders from Measat 3 in my case, all are labelled as VL - vertical low, and 5 transponders from Measat 3A, labelled as VH - vertical high... That means polarisation is always vertical, I think you can also tell from the shape of the dish (old and Byond) which is actually elongated vertically. Here are my signal screens first one showing the Measat 3, actually from 1 to 12, I only took the first page showing 1 to 8 only, second pic is for the Measat 3A, from 13 onwards and also two user defined transponders to lock on...??!!

I just checked the back of the dish, it says 60 ! ! ! I got the wrong dish!

I think you have the right to call back your installer and demand the 65cm dish.

My signal is just only 201 during daytime, it fluctuates on 198, 201 and 206. But at night it's 206 fluctuating between 201, 206 and 209. I also note that the toot toot sound (for strong signal) will only come on at 206 onwards. I am using the first line (Measat 3) as the entry point, will go and try a Measat 3A entry point later.

Note that my cable length (cable not changed) should be quite long, I suspect about 18 metres.

Also, I have a friend (in Penang also) who had his cable changed and yet his signal is just 168 only even though the dish is the 65cm dish.

So long as the signal quality and bit error rate (BER) is perfect, you should be able to watch your shows without interference.

Rightly so. I will send them an email regarding this issue. Shows the installer themselves are incompetent. doh.gif
