Yes thats true...this light is my support light when riding only...i carry another more conservative light with me.
I use the dimmer light to get to the trail and switch to brighter light off road..usually the dimmer light gets the most workout the off road trail is not too long.. I need more power |

QUOTE(pseudoblue @ Jan 14 2010, 03:22 PM) You can try if 2x RCR has the same brightness with 3x RCR. If it is the same, then the regulator is working well to give a constant current to the LED at around its working voltage from 6v - 13v, so i dont think giving an exact 13v would improve the brightness, the driver will just buck it. Yes , i was thinking of the same thing, usually they have a tolerance value..slightly below 13v or above 13v, manufacturer usually round up numbers to be on the safe side and protect their product. I've pushed a flashlight driver before and it was brighter.no mater how much V put in the buck will hold back the extra V more or less like a choke..judging from the glow of the LED and heat generated i don't think the Led is doing much work..i think it can do more..i mean just a quick glimpse at the P7 while its on i can see the 4 sections of the led...i've seem P7's working before and it looks nothing like this...i think it can do more This post has been edited by metalmania: Jan 14 2010, 03:56 PM |

I did know of such bike light but a bike light is just a bike light can't be used for hand held...well i took this path might as well just ride it till the end.. Deviate a little this is my bike.. pseudoblue I think i solve the problem..its contact..but i will make sure tonight, a little tightening and greasing seem a lot brighter, will report after tonights ride.. Mean while at the evil Metalmania's Lab..... The Famous MgLumen... I knew something fishy with the bezel and lens size, point proven..even the reflector fits.. Maglite reflector - 52mm LF - 53mm cos its threded What else, LED heat sink can be made to fit, just slightly off, opening is 19mm, with a little drilling i should get the Maglite smooth reflector in, but i lost my step drill bit so that will have to wait. Hacked it now its also the same height...i want to try to do some throwing... Just want to ask you guys...is this seni oren or oren peel? this flash has a little bit to much flood...i will also confirm this tonight. Brand new light still want to mod..i say sometimes i do things even i cant explain why This post has been edited by metalmania: Jan 14 2010, 07:35 PM |

QUOTE(LightJunk @ Jan 14 2010, 07:33 PM) Nice head. Can't wait for beam shot tonight. What body are you using? Looks like it's going to give floody beam. The reflector looks more like MOP. Anyway nice find regarding that Maglite. Thanks LJ...just before leaving i took a few photos of the two lights i take riding..i have no idea the purpose of the bean shot i just took what ever makes sense, i guess its just for comparison...don't know if i did it properly..anyway have a lookPicture shot at 1 meter from wall 1 meter from the floor..i can't pull back any further coz the flood will be to big for the viewfinder about another meter above the LF flood is the ceiling. Remember this is nothing like what light would behave i the real world. Painted plaster wall is a good flat surface to bounce light. In the jungle or real world dust on leaves and layered background simple absorbers light..most natural things are matte and dull making it harder for light to bounce off. I will update more soon. Beam shot against real objects to give better sense of the scale of the flood and throw. Thats Ultrafire yaaa not Surefire This post has been edited by metalmania: Jan 14 2010, 08:47 PM |

QUOTE(strinq @ Jan 14 2010, 10:36 PM) Metalmania : May I know how much does the whole setup cost (the seraph P7). Ouch thats a bonus question...my advise is if you considering it you should start with SP-9, mine was a little bit more coz of extender..old_newspaper: The skyline two looks good. Look at the extreme knurling and 'fin-like' stuff. Nuts. But a roughly about the same as Eagletac M series. This time was a little heavy on the pocket coz i dont have batteries. I'm seriously considering more extreme or custom setup, seem like of the shelf is very conservative. The Lumens Factory was chosen specifically for riding after considering many things, i'm looking at maglight setup now, this was my original plan from the start. Lightjunk- help out the fellow..really unfortunate... This post has been edited by metalmania: Jan 14 2010, 10:50 PM |

Hi guys, finally had time to do some beam shots, though i'm not please with the result specially when the local enforcers gave a quick siren...seem like the locals are quite done looking a the sky today, with eclipse and all...
I did have time to ream the smooth Maglite reflector to fit the LF P7 , though i really wanted to take bean shot with those too...the Mag lens and reflector can only be held tightly by the Mag bezel because the reflector is thinner at the rim and the lens are thinner too.. ..and difference from Ori reflector ( Right )& Smooth Mag reflector ( Left )... Beam shots..no detail on ISO, shutter and aperture...quite a scare when my eyes where staring at the sky and jumped by cops.. I call this picture " I SHOT THE SHERIFF " Sorry guys i was set to take more..but, well you know why... This post has been edited by metalmania: Jan 16 2010, 01:08 AM |

QUOTE(LightJunk @ Jan 16 2010, 01:49 AM) I got the beam to focus, finally, the heatsink can be adjusted..backed it a few mm, result is a little less spill, i should gain better result on the Mag reflector..just for fun. Look at the picture..found a few pictures on lighthound, my heatsink sat too proudly forward..Right was how it came, Left is where it is now...its way better... This was my reference picture..
