just a little experience i want to share regarding apply cc with alliance. I was contacted by bank cc agent and i emailed all documents he requested. 2 weeks later, i called the bank and checked my application status. it was still pending. then i called the agent and he said the cc department said that 'i told' them my salary was paid by cash and requested my epf statement, while i have shown the agent my payment slip and bank statement, somemore i never received any call from bank, not saying I TOLD them. who the hell did they talk to?
and then my application is rejected....thats it....nothing more to say about alliance...
*
It is the agent's fault obviously - maybe too eager to fulfill application quota. Always remember that in most cases (and especially if you are a new card applicant without reference credit card), you have to submit all documents that the bank wants to get approval. Short cuts would not guarantee approval.

And cc agent are not necessarily the bank's staff as most banks outsource their credit card marketing. Never be too gullible with a cc agent.

Not to jump to conclusions ... the email that you were asked to send your application to ... what was the address after the @ sign ? Would it be the official bank's domain or some web mail address ?

Hey guys,

I just talked to HSBC and Citibank CC advisors. Both also told me that the service tax will only be imposed for those who applied/activate their CCs after Jan 1, 2010. Those CC users before 2010 will not be imposed of such charges. Also, if this service tax were to be implemented, BNM will have to give at least 12mths transition period prior to executing the act, thus on 2011 only.

I have a strong feeling this is true as both banks are sharing similar info. But yet to be convinced as nothing is published to public yet.

Those terminating their CCs might just wanna wait a little while longer though.
*
Bro ... banks will say anything to prevent further loss of cc customers. Both share a common interest but like you said, better wait and see for the confirmed news rather than listen to heresay. What is confirmed is that government expect to generate RM500 million from this tax and they want to use their money next year.

Think to cancel my hlb MC ASAP since only got 2 more weeks, yesterday CIMB sudddenly double up my credit limit, wonder why they do that? According to some of the cc cs, service tax only impose when reach expire date, is that true?
*
Don't believe whatever the banks say at this juncture. Cancel card and see how the service tax will be implemented. Later can reapply card and I'm sure banks will be crazy for your business after losing so many customers.

I don't understand why everyone trust what the banks say at this moment but no public announcement is made. All public announcement points to service tax will be charged. Budget motion with the income from cc service tax also has been approved - so why everyone like 'tak percaya'?

lol, thats human nature mah
wait until they see RM50 charged in their statement, then only they start calling the cs and scream at them
kesian the cs since they are just doing their work... sweat.gif
former bank cs here thats why know how is their situation
*
Yeah ... I don't blame CS coz often they are asked to answer based on what they are told. Myself whatever that is being told ... service tax will be charged on the 1st Jan or card anniversary, I don't care but cancel now. And I know can reapply later.

Well if you are unhappy about a certain bank cc product ... now's the chance ! Just cancel the card ... later when you reapply, they will welcome you back with open arms.

any maxis staff here to help me? not big amount, jus rm200 only.
*
If it is not your fault, you'll eventually get back your money. It will take some time for the investigation to complete ... around 1-3 months. It is really not big amount of money to you then I'm sure you can wait. Don't bother calling CS as this is done by another department of the bank.

..today, i'm glad that my wish has come true i.e. the billing of the service tax will be on the card anniversary, or at least this is true to AmIslamic card

i just received the bank 10th Dec statement and on it stated 'Billing of GST will be according to your card anniversary month.' Can also redeem bonus points to pay the tax- 10,000 for principal and 5,000 for supp

i will scan and upload the statement tomorrow.. i suppose this is the first black and white statement froma bank?
*
Yay! Congrats ! Finally the first documented proof from a bank which states when they want to charge the service tax.

so, which dept to call?
hmm, im lazy to report. but recommend to make a report? any police station wil do?
*
You can't get their number directly. Best is you ask CS to ask that dept to call you back. Like I said, they'll take time to investigate.
Yeah ... make a police report and forward it to the bank. It'll help in the investigations.

i borrow my friend my CC for emergence use, now i want to replace my CC number...
*
Actually you can't explain this to the bank (in fact all banks) as you are contravening the T&C of using the card in the first place. Best you just report the card as loss. I know UOB charges RM50 ... I think that's the maximum benchmark. BTW ... you need to wait a couple of days to 1 week before you get a replacement card.

after 10 minutes, SCB called to enquire about the transaction
take the chance to "praise" the cs, cannot go thru oso need to verify sweat.gif
he did admit that SCB is working on how to improve the card's functionality:thumbs:
*
I'm neutral on this statement coz I have heard SCB saying this for many months already but nothing happens. Still those who still holds the card will appreciate the card coz you can't apply for it anymore! I remember a few weeks after I got this card, the bank stop accepting applications for it.

don't forget that majority of their customers are government / GLC employees. Therefore, not much effect.

Not just that ... not everybody read this forum. The general public would be happy with the piece of plastic that they own therefore not likely to hop around credit card like the folks here. I can't blame MBB's CEO for saying what he did, I mean even EON Bank published something similar. If you are the employee of that bank, you can't be giving out bad impression of your bank right ?

when i enquire at my Maybank here, the officer said first 2 CC will be free from RM50. Third card onwards, you'll have to start paying RM50 each. This will be monitored by Bank Negara.

Don't know which news is true now. I only have 2 cards Amex and Visa Petronas now
*
If it is not published in B&W, you have absolutely all rights not to believe anything that is mentioned by anyone representing the bank. For me, I'll trim all cards to just what I definately need. I won't bother with cards that "I think I need" ... it is more cards that "I definately need".

I'm sure for JustOne holders in this thread, they will hang on this card. smile.gif

QUOTE(Gen-X @ Dec 18 2009, 06:04 PM)
Having said the above, I can understand why MBF did not increase your CL, you must understand that RM3K CL is very very low and yet you can't even make RM150 (5% of CL) on time and have bad record payment history. Yes, Citibank Card do have all kind of "special promotion" loan (like blank cheque) but before you utilize/use these kind of "benefit", better ask yourself if you can pay back as the interest will be high.
*
Agrred with Gen-X. It is not about whether you pay double or not but the fact remains that you failed to demonstrate good disipline in paying your monthly dues. It is easy to just rant about the bank but what if that person is your friend and you are the one giving him loans ? You dare to give your friend more access to debt ? shoduken ... IMHO I think you are @ fault when the bank refuses to give you CL upgrade. CL upgrade is a priviledge not a facility that you can just ask when you think you deserve it.
