QUOTE(julchin_09 @ Dec 5 2009, 08:29 PM) Welcome to the club bro Thanks thanks, hopefully can receive within 3 weeks Same specs as mine except I went for the Intel Core i7 820QM And 3 years complete Cover instead of 6GB ram. Bundled with TactX mouse. I guess I'll also have to wait 2-3 weeks Can you actually bargain for the upgrades lol? I asked the girl that I only need 4GB RAM but free upgrade for the warranty, she doesnt allow me to Core i7 820 is like 1389 to upgrade lol, how much rebate did u get when u upgrade the processor? I thought of upgrading the processor also, but comparing the price/performance ratio, guess I am not going for it lol. Added on December 5, 2009, 8:37 pm QUOTE(FindingScreemo @ Dec 5 2009, 08:32 PM) Wow. Here's my specs How much was the BD-rom lol? QUOTE(julchin_09 @ Dec 5 2009, 08:46 PM) I know, you are like one of the founding fathers of the M15x. Looks on the bright side, you have yours for a while now already while we have to endure a waiting period of longer than you... So how much did urs end up being with the 820QM?The problem is you can't bargain. The sales guy there by the name of Chuen let me in on a secret that the offer changes from day to day. Today something extra but minus this, tomorrow diff liao. The proc upgrade is not much discounted for me. Also bout 1k plus after I calculated but cheaper than the listed RM1.3K. But I didn't get mine at the fair. Just that payment and all received on Friday so they processed my order. I wanted the proc upgrade cos I read the game benchmarks online using 820QM and was satisfied with the results. Maybe future gaming will be better... I didn't need the 6GB Ram which I can change later when prices drop from the 4GB(2X2gb sLOTS) ... sO I didn't have to bargain all with the sales. I think today they would have higher volume of M15x sales. Yesterday 10+ , today might be more.... I didn't get BD Rom. But I got the Alienware tactX mouse for RM130.. Added on December 5, 2009, 8:59 pm QUOTE(FindingScreemo @ Dec 5 2009, 08:52 PM) @jul_chin Did my research on Core i7, 720QM apparently is the best bang for the buck since 820QM doesnt give much of an improvement performance wise compared to the 720QM.Founding father!?!? No, I'm not comparing prices bro, I'm just showing how much of a difference can a PC Fair make! Big difference in terms of performance between the 720 and 820, in games? As I know, you'll only need a better proc if you're into video encoding and heavy processing instead of games. A good GPU and 4gb of RAM is enough to improve performance in game, no? @amunriel I got my M15x for almost a month already bro. Direct from Dell, couldn't wait for the PC Fair. The BD-Rom was about RM 500 IIRC. But then again, they do mention that 720QM might not be enough for the current/future games where 820QM is just nice to be future-proof. QUOTE(FindingScreemo @ Dec 5 2009, 11:53 PM) Maybe she herself is not sure either. lol. can you imagine AW equipping us with a 500gb HDD at 5400rpm? fyi, only the 250gb HDD with the M15x is 5400rpm, anything higher is 7200rpm. So that means if you're getting the 500gb, its fixed, its 7200rpm. I think she was new to AW Added on December 5, 2009, 11:54 pm not all bro, the 250gb comes at 5400rpm. Man if she woulda told me that the hardisk itself is already 7200RPM earlier, I would have upgrade the proc to 820QM and ask for more discount ~.~ This post has been edited by amunriel: Dec 6 2009, 09:28 AM |

Speaking of the touchpad, is it multi-touch? I forgot to test it out tht day. QUOTE(pelvin @ Dec 8 2009, 03:51 PM) send to shop.. upgrade ourself!!(if there is such service) haha Well seeing from those people who has taken the m15x apart, it is possible for m15x to have SLI, but the casing wouldn't fit and the heat issue would be a big problem. However, it is possible for us to swap the GC since its MXM 2.1.i dont mind SLI my 260gtx tho.. are there possibilities the m15x can SLI? does the mobo support it anyway? *do it only after warranty is over |

personally I think hdmi port is just a gimmick unless you are doing many presentations
Nowadays there is a media player hub thing that allows you to plug in your hardisk to it and it will connect to your tv, which is a much easier way than moving our massive m15x around. |

QUOTE(kelvin1989 @ Dec 10 2009, 10:14 PM) Watching a blue-ray movie on a laptop screen is just too overkill mate, and I doubt games will use blu-ray discs in the close future, so yea dont think blue-ray is necessary for now in a laptop. However SSD is going to be necessary in the future for better performance. #PS: get a PS3 or external blue-ray player with your 40" Sony Bravia TV would do a better job lol. |

QUOTE(julchin_09 @ Dec 11 2009, 05:18 PM) What you mean by DFO Stock? How sure its a refurbished unit instead of pc-fair sales pricing. They might be selling it at attractive pricing to attract new customers to this NEWLY Marketed brand in Msia..... Doubt it will be a refurbished unit, otherwise I would have gotten the laptop straight away instead of having the need to wait for like freaking 3 weeks and they wouldnt allow customization on refurbished unit. |
