Oooo dats good to hear. Now, any M17x users have flashed your bios to A03? I scared le hehe.

Well for M15x owners this is a much needed upgrade since it really fix the infamous ENTER issue we've been encountering. Now my only concern is whether it fix the throttling issues when playing some games.

At first i didn't expect it will effect my lappy since the test that have been done when they discovered the throttling issue is basically strictly to benchmarking...thought that when we are in normal gaming mood this should not happen since its under 'normal' situation. But then in one session of Mass Effect it happened, suddenly the frame rate dropped to half and its barely playable. Have look at all the setting, disable the stealth mode and powermizer, but still the framerate is like shit.

Shutdown my lappy...leave it for about a minute then on it back. Luckily it disappear and i'm back to my smooth framerate....so that is why I decided to update my bios by hook or by crook...luckily all went well...it is stated that the guy who originally got the .iso file said he got it from Dell itself after complaining straight to the management site. I had doubt at first but seeing all who update it had no problem so far, i gave it a try....

Hi, i have this prob be4, few games cant be played, games such as street fighter IV and Dawn of War II, even with the lowest setting the frame is unbareable,
but i found out a solution on one of the forums, open ur search menu and type service, look for Alienware Fusion, put the startup to manual, and restart,
the throttling issue has gone, it works charms for me until now. from what i found out, alienware fusion didnt work well with win7,
let win7 manage the power management.
hope this will help u as well.

cheers

You might be right with this since it has been reported that this alienfusion is a resource hog in windows 7. Will try to set it to manual at 'services' after this and monitor the throttling issues.

Added on February 6, 2010, 1:27 pmAn excerpt from Dell's community forum:

Alien Fusion doesn't properly support Windows 7 yet.
Just use the Windows Power Options instead and disable the Alien Fusion Service. It's a resource hog anyway.

I found that turning off the Fusion process and setting it to manual start gives you a nice jump in your benchmark scores. You don't need it, everything it does can be managed through the standard Windows power management applets, and it does have a detrimental effect on performance. My advice would be to drop it.

To turn off alien fusion do the following,
Hit the windows button and type in "Services". Select "Services" from the list of applications that appears. Find the Fusion service in the listing and set it's startup value to be "Manual", and then right click it and make sure the service is currently stopped.

Tim Suddaby

Updates...

After playing mass effect for 3 hours..it is safe to say that the bios update are doing well...no throttling issues (might be from the disabling of alienfusion service)...so far so good

Mayb , but dell had giv my 2 other frens problems also =/ and everytime we call up dell technical support , is more like we are lecturing them on how to do their work -.-
Imagine if u told them ur screen is facing snowing artifact issues and their reply u with "Sir , did u put ur screen saver as snowing ? "  If tat was my laptop , id already ask him to look for another  job .

Well perhaps their telephone tech support needs improving...but the moment i insist on on-site service and the engineers came and change my gpu, mobo and ac adapter right infront of my eyes...IN MY OFFICE....thats what sold me into making a statement that dell's service is excellent...
