yup uncle. Adapter is the same one. The only thing changed is my Mobo and GPU. Both new. And new A02 Bios. Everything is working great at the moment but Im constantly running test to monitor the temp and if anything goes and behaves fishy. Temp during its hottest reached 80+celcius and i got myself a Cooler Master Notepal Infinity today. I wanna see if the improved air-flow beneath the M15x reduces the operating temp of my GPU by a significant degree or not?

QUOTE(zad78 @ Jan 12 2010, 10:56 PM) Does the cooler fits the laptop nicely?...thinking of getting this or zalman nc2000. The price and the suitability of the cooler with the laptop are the deciding factor though... Yup... the notebook cooler fits just nicely on the M15x. Maybe on the M17x it will be concealed as it is not as wide.... Has one large fan with 3 fan speeds (1000/1500/2000RPM) and is a USB Hub with 4 extra ports (USB 2.0) ... The extra ports come in handy....

QUOTE(lchen39 @ Jan 13 2010, 10:09 AM) bro julchin, i think i have similar problem with yours. i on the notebook only see all the light but no display and cannot see the alien logo. finally need the take out the battery and put back again then it works. already encounter 2 times, will continue monitor, if happen again then will call Dell. but the problem don't happen all the time, affraid when they reach here everything working fine. My advice is to monitor the issue and repeat the same steps that led you to the black screen issue to see if it occurs again. If it DOES, check if you have updated to the new A02 Bios? Next, try repeating the taking out battery, putting in power, then running on batt and plugging in adapter. Basically make your lappie work a bit to see if you can KO it again? If not, then its prolly one of those 1 off issues and it happened at random. However, if it DOES happen again, call DELL and tell them the history of the problem from the first incident. They'll prolly send someone to change your Mobo.

The Notepal Infite tilts the M15x nicely.... 1 larger fan with 3 variable speeds up to 2000rpm located in the middle while the surrounding areas are grill. The imported coolers you guys are talking about uses 2 or 3 fans right?

for the time being im sticking to the CM Notepal Infinite. I can feel the air flow even at the sides and i always leave it at 2000rpm. It might not be as effective as the others, but its functional...

QUOTE(pelvin @ Jan 14 2010, 01:24 AM) » Click to show Spoiler - click again to hide... « Alienware understands that the world of computer hardware is constantly changing, and that a component bought today can be soon outdated. A solid upgrade policy is essential with any high-performance computer purchase, which is why Alienware customers are entitled to purchase upgrades at specially reduced prices. You can choose to install the hardware yourself or you can send your system to Alienware. Not only will Alienware install the new hardware for you, but your machine will be completely reintegrated from the ground up, keeping your warranty active.
Alienware systems are very flexible and present you with many options to upgrade, and upgrading on your own is an option; however, please keep in mind there are many factors to consider, and not everyone may find the same solution. Before considering the purchase of any component, be it third party or Alienware, we recommend calling Alienware first. Does the Alienware upgrade policy apply to malaysia users? I wanna enquire about this. But then there are more options for the M17x owners compared to us M15x users. But an upgrade to a GTX 300 Series in the future would be great!!!!! QUOTE(FindingScreemo @ Jan 14 2010, 01:24 AM) i never updated my BIOS since day 1. lol. just like docter, its stable for me. oh well, I updated with version A02 and its been stable ever since....

QUOTE(kelvin1989 @ Jan 14 2010, 01:01 PM) meaning that dell will release some high end hardware at a fair price for alienware owner to upgrade their system? Well from a legal point of view, they can't just advertise and not keep their word. So if they can state such a thing in their site about allowing users to upgrade without stating any clause in there that excludes certain parties or certain conditions, we can expect them to allow future upgrades like memory or GPUs with less than retail price at most......

Morning peeps... As for reliability issues, I think its just me with the serious issue and one more person. The rest seems to be having superb running systems and none reported from the M17x. So I agree that its just few of us with issues and the majority are fine which mirrors what other brands perform when it comes to reliability....

I just need to know how long does it take from the the day i order til ill get it from dell ? or does anyone here know where i can get a better price other then pc fair ? or any shops in kl that sell it ? I got mine in less than 2 weeks. PC-Fair might offer bundled price with more RAM and free gifts... QUOTE(ldragon @ Jan 15 2010, 06:49 PM) Alienware ,about 2 to 3 weeks time. I got it within 2 weeks. The Dell Vostro v13 are delayed bcoz of the parts shortage, new delivery date is end of this month. Both are ordered on 31st Dec 2009 I heard about this too. Luckily I didn't have to wait too long. So which model are you using?

QUOTE(FindingScreemo @ Jan 16 2010, 02:33 AM) Ouh, means the problem is with the rom itself. hmmmm I think call DELL and get a NEW ONe...... Then try again with the same 'Jack Sparrow' disc..... @BrokenOne. If you're travelling overseas, you can still get from DELL the same way u get it here and have it delivered to your doorstep wherever you are...

Oh...So the BD Player is branded a SONY? The last time I recalled them having serious hardware issues was when they had faulty notebook batteries that exploded upon prolonged usage. They recalled back few batches of their batteries. If SONY's BD Player is a similar problem, they'd better replace it for free for u guys. I'd accept if a pirated disc was rejected, but an Original one just shows the BD Player is not working properly and up to expectations....

QUOTE(putrawanz @ Jan 16 2010, 02:51 PM) actually it still same problem change a new one... i change already. when loading a dvd or bluray original sometime will stuck inside then must restart to eject it.. u read my previous thread now if want to install jack sparrow disc must using a external dvd-rom for install only use a original disc only So this happens using BlueRay only or both BD and DVD? Sounds redundant then that Drive. Its such a hassle to use it.... This warrants another complaint to DELL regarding the use of these SONY players.... but your case and Screemo's is different... Hmmmmm....?
