Type of camera/lens/accesories : DSLR camera/EVIL
Budget : RM 3500 include kit lens
Your Location : Kedah
Preferable brand : Canon or Nikon or Sony
Type of photography u want to do : photography, normal usage , indoor photography
Any specific models in mind? : 60D + 18-55mm IS , 550D+ 18-55mm IS, Sony NEX-5 twin lens
Any specific features u want? : easy to carry(not bulky), future proof(as in availability of lens, accessories, etc)

Thanks. Currently considering 60D/NEX-5 but the extra bulk of 60D is kinda turn off, although more lens available and more functions

if u want a small and light camera, consider the sony a55/33,the canon 550D,and the nikon D3100. im not a big fan of the sony's EVF(electronic viewfinder),but the HD video it can offer is really good. also not to forget some in-camera-processing like the HDR thingy. well as the canon 550D and the nikon D3100, both are good in their own ways IMO. all these 3 cameras im suggesting are within ur budget, and yes, they take great pics. biggrin.gif

if u are really considering these 2 models, im leaning more towards the 550D. u can watch this intresting video smile.gif

but if u really want 1080p video recording, i would suggest the sony SLT a55. the video mode with continuous AF is incredible IMO. have a look at this AF video comparison.

and just to add, the 550D and the sony slt a55 does come with an external mic input for better sound when u're recording.

@Tony Shark..

But I tot 550D oso offers 1080p video recording??

BTW, how poor will be the Nikon D3100 when there is no mic input during video recording?

I am oso currently deciding between these 2 units. If D3100 does not have much difference comparing to 550D, I would get D3100 as it is very much cheaper than 550D.

yes, the 550D offers 1080p video recording as well. but the sony SLT a55 AF(autofocus) while video recording is greater/better than the 550D IMO.

and about the D3100 and 500D, have u watch the video?if there's no minx output while video recording, the quality of the sound will not be 'poor', maybe it'll be just nice and enough for ur needs. but adding an external mic can enhance the sound more. nicer sound lah biggrin.gif. so if u have narrow down to these 2 models, then it should be easy for u. if its me, i'd go with the 550D. but yeah, the nikon's D3100 is way cheaper. so pick ur pick! thumbup.gif

After visiting some stall/shop at low yatt and sg wang,
I had exclude tx7 out from my choice because it didnt provide significant different with tx9...
But i found that im dilemma among tx5 and tx9, their price gap is only around rm100+,
and both of them got their very own advangtages:=
TX5-shock,dust,temperature, water proof
TX9-Better video capture, 3d shooting mode....

Can some1 explain to me about what does 3d shooting mode do exactly??

Appreciate urs kindness....

i'd pick the TX-5..with this camera i really can bring it everywhere..including having a swim with friends at the pool or beach or go hiking without worrying that it will break during the trip.. biggrin.gif

3D shooting is just some marketing gimmick la..they claim that you can take videos in 3D mode but might need to rely on the glasses or stand away from the screen for a certain distance before you can see the effect. my 2 cents. blush.gif

in short,

advantages would be,

whatever settings you set on the camera, like changing the shutter speed or white balance, you can see it effects on the EVF. you also can get a very accurate depth of field with it.

disadvantages would be, it does not autogain. meaning, if your settings are not suitable for shooting in a dark room, your EVF might appear dark, unlike the conventional OVF.

i don't think i am making sense to a newbie like you. i'd suggest you read up some articles in google, and come back here to ask specific questions. biggrin.gif
