i dont know much about the NEX-5 bro. but i do know that it has got the same size sensor as a DSLR. the APS-C size sensor. wut sets it apart? well the 60D is a DSLR, and the NEX-5, im not sure where it stands. its not a 4/3 camera because the sensor's bigger, maybe its a small interchangeable lens camera. well, i think u should wait for zstan to reply. i think he knows better. smile.gif

i think u should look up the lx5. that's the competitor to the s95. both are high end compacts. lx5 may have some tricks up its sleeve like zooming while video recording. and there's a hot shoe port as well. to be honest, this argument (lx5 vs s95) has been going on everywhere. some say the s95 is better, some the the lx5 is. but. they have a big diff when it comes to size. the s95 is slimmer and more pocket-able. while the lx5 is abit beefier with its larger lens, the upper hot shoe, and it comes with a lens cap.i dont own any of these cameras but i've hold em. both are high end compacts which can produce great images IMO. the lx5 is bigger and not pocket-able unless ur wearing cargo pants or u're putting it in a bag. but the lx5 has got some features the s95 dont. like the continuous AF in movie mode, a hot shoe, higher burst rate *2.5fps vs 1.9fps* (really, does this matter?:D), longer battery life..but the s95, is slimmer, smaller, more compact camera. u can easily put it in ur pocket, turn it on, snap a pic. :) so if u dont need all the stuffs that the lx5 can offer, and u want a smaller n more compact camera, go for the s95. but if u dont mind about size, i think the lx5 can deliver u well. its all about the matter of size really :)

thanks a lot for your feedback!! :D I'm actually really tempted to get LX5 but the price range is off the budget i'm given ): I figured that I wouldn't miss the features on LX5 too much if i don't think about it. though mannn i am tempted! sighhh

but given the option of S95 against LX3 for the same price, which one so you think is better? or is LX3 really less superior to S95?

the lx3 maybe a bit old from the s95, and does size matter to u? btw aint ur budget rm1500?

habe a look at this site right here - http://forum.lowyat.net/index.php?showtopi...7&hl=lumix+lx-5

the lx-5 is only rm1529 there. u just need to add in another rm30 bro. smile.gif and if were to compare the lx3 and the s95, the specs are mostly similar but the s95 can take videos in 720p i think. here's a link to its comparison. smile.gif

yupp budget is around there, but since its a present from my sisters i figured i should help them save some money! LOL

thanks for the link! i readreadread and I'm stuck again... All of them have their own attraction! haha

S95 - cheapest (rm1259) and slim
LX3 - mid range (rm1350), in-btw size but i don't think its pocketable either. more battery life compared to S95?
LX5 - +++ features! haha the thing is i'm not sure how well i'll appreciate them! though seeing picture comparisons, lx5 has the best images... so tempting!

in the end i'm as undecided as ever! I think image quality wise i'll be happy with either of them!
Was leaning more towards LX3 as compared to S95 in the beginning as the specs seems to be a little better? is this true? i probably understand only 70% of that haha
S95 has better video, but I dont really take that many vids... but yeahhh its SLIM! as compared to LX3 n 5 which has the lense jutting out. I'm not too sure if size really matters... I've always been stuffing all my previous cameras in my bag. I think i really have to go to the shop and hold them in my hands!

If you had the option you would get LX5?? lol ;D

yeah, if i need to choose either 1, i'd go for the lumix lx-5. (but i love the compactness of the s95 too LOL). but yeah, if its me, n size is not a matter, i'd go with the lx-5. and also, like u said, i think either camera can deliver nice pics. so pick ur pick! biggrin.gif

I'm a LX5 user~
At 1st i was thinking canon IXUS300, then s95, but it arrived msia quite late then i switch to LX5~
y i prefer s95 in the 1st place : compact, miniature & fish eye mode, colour swap~
then y i end up with LX5 : spec slightly better, battery life, design (IMO), etc etc~

if u r thinking putting ur s95 in your pants or pocket, just make sure you're comfortable with it especially you're wearing jeans tongue.gif

Hi .... Actually I wanna take 60D out of the list and put 550D in it .

So now it's either Canon 550D or Sony A55

QUOTE(zstan @ Nov 25 2010, 12:01 AM)
what makes you think its not easy to get lens for sony? ok fine. sony doesn't have a dedicated tilt shift, or 50mm f1.2 or a 85mm f1.2. will u be using those lenses straight away?

and what makes you think canon is the cheapest among all?  rclxub.gif
*
Hey ,

Thanks for your feedback .
I have no idea yet but you know people keep saying stuffs about Sony being sucky cause of the lenses hard to find,Canon and Nikon dominates the DSLR World << This is absurd .

I have no problem with both models at all ( Sony A55 / Canon 550D )
I really like them both but since I haven't started playing with DSLR yet , I want to make the best choice for myself now .
Been debating on them both for a while now and I seriously need help ~.~

As for the lens , It's just my own opinion as I looked at all the other threads selling lenses and DSLR . I find Sony being the most expensive while Canon being the cheapest for example 50mm1.8F , The price tag for Sony's is RM450 while the one for Canon is roughly Rm300

Judging from that , I think it should be safe for me to say that other Sony lenses will be expensive too .
