I need some of your knowledgeable opinion...I am no expert in camera, but I love looking at beautiful pictures...planning to get a camera and learn from it to take good pictures. Sony nex-3 and panasonic lumix fz35/38 as well as lumix FZ40 (the latest) is in the same price range that I can afford...although both lumix are digital camera...the picture quality is SLR-like...so which one in y'all opinion should i buy? . thanks for the help in advance. .

but the sony a55 with kitlens,it'll cost abit more than ur budget..as u said u r pretty tight on ur budget,im suggesting the D3100 lor

D3100 is about rm1900 fullset and its got HD movies,11AF points,lots of new features oso..

good move..going straight to the mid range..so u dont have to go through entry level,then when bored,nid change mid-range..cost u more money

anyways,60D owns 50D..flip screen,HD video mode,larger pixel counts..but D7000 owns 60D..but i think the price of D7000 will be steep..

so i think u should wait for the D7000 to be release here in msia..or if u cant wait,go for the 60D

I'm new and know nothing about camera. But I want to buy DSLR for my wedding gift and want to start 'berjinak-jinak' in photography world. Would you sifu2 advise me between Nikon D3000 or D3100..???Maybe the pros and cons...considering I know nothing at all about DSLR..PLEASE

but to answer ur question,i think u shud go with the nikon D3100..why?bcuz its new-er than the D3000 and there's new features in it.

mostly the HD movie recording with the continuous AF when recording..and the price diff is rm400 oni..

nikon D3000 - rm1499, nikon D3100 - rm1900..so,if it was me,im going with the nikon D3100


honestly,i dont quite like about the 30% lost of light on the a55..not one bit.

but other than the 30% lost of light,i think the sony a55>nikon D3100 (just IMO)

i havent tested it yet (both),but by reading the specs and watching reviews on utube,i think the sony is better..10fps,tilt screen..but if u r really caught up in such situation,i mean u cant choose between these 2,just go to some shop and try it out..hold it in ur hands and stuff..which one fits u better...but if it was me,as i said earlier, other than the 30% lost of light,i think the sony a55>nikon D3100 (just IMO)..

30% loss of light means if u shoot at f3.2, the light that goes in will be at f3.5.

significant loss? i don't think so.

talking about continuous AF during video recording, you should check out the video recording in youtube
from what i've seen so far, a33/55 has the fastest autofocus ability

the a33/55 AF during video mode are rather amazing
