Type of camera/lens/accessories :
Point & Shoot, Ultra Compact Digital Camera Budget: $1500 ~ $1600 Your Location: KL Preferable model: Canon or Panasonic or some other good reliable brand (you suggest, and I'll look into it...) Type of photography u want to do : 1. Mostly family photos, groups of four or five in a pic whether in a house or picnicking in a hot Malaysia sun or rain, whatever... 2. Pictures of my stuff not MY stuff just stuff like my PC, joystick whole desktop with full POV kinda view 3. Simple but sharp looking panoramic pictures that can used as a desktop (1920x1080) 4. Can easily snap a picture of yourself while doing something… Any specific models in mind? : S90 or LX3 or others... like I say before, you suggest and I'll look into it Any specific features u want? : Love to tinkering with stuffs so give me something that’s freaking complicated and at the same time easy to use (point and shoot) especially for my missus, don't really wanna hear something like “bang, nak tekan apa ni..?” or “macam mana nak keluar flash ni bang..?” while you’re grinning & striking a pose on the other side of the lens… |

For the syiok sendiri pics... unless u fancy some gimmicky dual lcd cams.. anything will do. QUOTE Love to tinkering with stuffs so give me something that’s freaking complicated and at the same time easy to use (point and shoot) S90 or LX3 lor... lots of manual control for the tinkering addict. QUOTE Any specific models in mind? : S90 or LX3 or others... like I say before, you suggest and I'll look into it There ya go I know next to nothing on cameras so from a noobie perspective... LX3 - nicer closeup - better ergonomics...better to hold etc. - More accessories to buy - It's cargo pants friendly but relatively thick so it's not 501 friendly. - Limited reach... wussy zoom. - Lense cap... there's always 3rd party options but still.... S90 - Crappy ergonomics.... slippery..... that wheel thingy but ya know that from the reviews - Zero accessories.... unless u wanna go the custom grip and 37mm adaptor route - Better but still a bit lacking reach.... my previous cam is a superzoom. - 501 friendly... double the thickness but smaller than my Touch HD phone. - Crappy battery life I went the S90 route as I wanted something I can bring everywhere.... and better than average low light performance. |

Guys,
Need some help Before you guys flame and stuff, I've read alot regarding 550D and D90. I'm new to dSLR but did alot of readings with terms and what they mean. http://www.digitalreview.ca/content/Canon-...Nikon-D90.shtml Seems to show that D90 is better is there anyone that can advice on my purchase? I would mostly take pictures of food.. will definitely be using for family outings and indoor environments. Which one would be more ideal ? any D90 or Canon 550D users? Also, please, don't be bias with the brand just tell me your experiences if any? Advice greatly appreciated! |

QUOTE(metalfreak @ Apr 6 2010, 03:09 PM) Guys, D90 is better than 550D. it's "another level up", same with the 50D .but the recent price drop makes it a very attractive choice. the 550D should be compared with the nikon D5000. anyway, if u like to take pictures of food, people, n indoor i recommend u get the D90 with Nikkor 50mm f1.8D. it's a great lens for those purposes n only around rm400 Need some help Before you guys flame and stuff, I've read alot regarding 550D and D90. I m not a pro yet, just using camera to cari "makan". Existing, I m using sony alpha 100, for simple shooting for customer office, factory and products.
Now I got new project, and plan to test out on video. So was thinking to get an upgrade. But too bad sony did not come out with any video for the DSLR. So, end up looking into Nikon and Canon. First, I plan to go for Nikon D90, which i think its good enough and price very good some more, due to recent price drop. But last week, went out model shooting with my friend, a canon supporter. He lend me and to test out canon 7D and 5D. Walau eh! The result were fantastic. Try out some video.. damn nice. For sure 5D its out of my budget, some more I m not that pro also. But was considering 7D. So far, in the review, I read alot and tons of positive feedback on canon 7D, but for serious, any negative feedback on this body? Pls help, I need to decide on this week, as next week will goto customer place. :-) |
