Lots of fans have already travelled out, or will be doing so today, on the promise of litre beers and Christmas markets... as well as the football. Some Reds I know are staying in nearby Hannover and Berlin. We're settling for Wolfsburg itself, not too far away from the Volkswagen Arena. I'm led to believe the big attraction in Wolfsburg is the Autostadt Theme Park. Volkswagen, the major employers in the city, own and run a huge motor museum. So I'll check that out at some point.

RYAN Giggs has told Paul Scholes he'll get used to his non-regular role for the Reds.

The 36-year-old and his 35-year-old sidekick masterminded United's thumping 4-0 away win at West Ham.

But Scholes went into the game having declared he was dismayed at his contribution and disappointed he'd only started 10 of United's 21 matches this term.

"We all want to play every game and Paul is no different," Giggs told MEN Sport.

"He wants to play every week but with the squad we have got that is impossible. It is difficult at times when you go two or three weeks without a game and internationals come along and you are not involved in those as well. It is difficult to get back into the rhythm of it.

"You have to adapt to not playing every week but I have probably been doing it for the past three or four years so I have got used to it. Scholesy isn't used to it the same. But I am more of a dynamic player than Scholesy so perhaps I need more breaks.

"He can still get forward or sit in front of the back four and control the game.

"I can also play a number of positions but he is just the centre of midfield so it is more difficult to play every week.

"So all this not playing regularly is new to him. But he'll adapt to it as he has been proving.

Scholes control

"Saturday was what Scholesy is all about - controlling the game. He never gives the ball away. His passing range is the best in the game whether it is five yards or 45 yards he is capable of doing both.

"Paul is showing over the last couple of weeks just what a great player he still is."

Nevertheless, Scholes has hinted he'll assess his future in the summer.

"It is totally up to Scholesy. It all depends on how you feel and it is the same with me," added Ryan.

"It is still fairly early in the season. It is the middle of the campaign and not at the end and I feel good at the moment. I am sure Scholesy feels the same.

"With the experience he has got and the quality he has got you want that around the place for as long as possible."

Reds' boss Sir Alex Ferguson added his tribute to the playmaker and goalscorer.

"Paul is an incredible player and he is conducting our play so well right now and he is making it look good for us," he said.

"Darron Gibson and Anderson are young boys and are going to be great players but in Paul, they have to accept there is a man who is the finished article who has been doing it at the very highest level for 15 years.

"It is a great example and it will rub off I am sure."
