Guys,
It would be great if we can join the social league. But a few things to note tho:-
How many can commit themselves every other Sunday? To sustain in a league, you need consistency and if our attendance in Saturday's futsal is an indication, there's no way we're gonna compete as every week we have different players coming in and out.
Are you guys committed to playing? I mean if we're gonna join a league, we're not there just to play play or test water. If we were to go in and get thrashed 5-0 every other week, save the money and go have a cuppa coffee after work instead. In saying that, are you guys ready for training? It would be pointless to go for matches but not turn up for training.
The way i see it, if you guys wanna join the league, we have to set some ground rules la. Each player deposit a refundable amount of money, say RM200. At the end of the league season, this money will be returned fully to the player ONLY IF he makes it to all the matches and training. Maybe we can enforce a small fine of RM10 per game missed or RM5 per training missed, if the the player has missed more than 5 sessions or something.
Its a good idea to explore actually, joining the social league but first we need to gauge who are the serious and committed ones, else its just all talk and no action.
well said eric, commitment is always an issue.. although from the past few games we seem to have around 14-16 players who've consistently managed to show up each time. But to join the league, we need a pool of at least 18 players (incl 2 gk's).. with a minimum of 15 playing every weekend. At least there is a buffer for 3 players to come in/ go out in case they can;t make it.. some sort of rule might have to govern how this works tho..
About the training & possibility of getting thrashed.. well i don;t think we suck thaaat bad (Rmbr the recent futsal tourney?). We've got pretty decent players.. plus we play together every week (futsal that is).. so its just a matter of getting the team to gel. If ur talking abt fitness.. then thats a whole new issue there. I've played in similar competitions before & its not like ur up against top athletes week in week out.
interesting idea regarding the deposit thingy, but i don't think making them pay a fine for not showing up is gonna go down well. if its gonna happen then myself & heikal are seriously innit..
