LYN TRIUMPHS IN SUPERB OFFSIDE TRAP DISPLAY

LYN produced a masterclass in deploying the offside trap in a much anticipated clash versus bitter rivals (only on our side) MyRawk. The makeshift backline comprising of Wong-Kang-Tong flanked either by Ben, Doggyjames, Naz, Waile or King hatched a brilliant plan to trap the speedy MyRawk attack. (P/s: Wong Kang Tong is not a Hong Kong themed restaurant in SS2)

Frustrated MyRawk traitor winger, Khai, could not exploit the yards of green in front of him as he was caught out eight times throughout the game. Righbacks Ben and the very lively Doggyjames had the nippy ex-LYN waterboy in their pockets all evening.

Howard gave a man-of-the-match performance in goal, with countless saves throughout. The agile goalkeeper was commanding and his handling was superb as the MyRawkers were reduced to attempting long range shots due to the brilliant offside plan. MyRawk was wrongfully awarded a penalty late in the 2nd period when Wk Wong made a brilliant tackle on the MyRawk striker's foot. Its not his fault that the striker was too fast. Nevertheless, Howard's reflexes and dazzling long, brown pants were enough to put off the penalty taker who hit the post.

Once again, John JTXCool was at the heart of the LYN midfield, holding up the ball and occasionally joining the attack. His workrate was also evident as he bailed out Wong-Kang-Tong in defence. With John playing almost the entire game, Ben was on standby to give mouth-to-mouth in case another pengsan episode re-occured.

Debutants Aldred and Freshie Foo also showed glimpses of potential with their energetic runs and hassling of the opponents. However, the day belonged to veteran experienced striker/winger/fullback/centrback/keeper, Waile. From his customary position on the right flank, the willy Waile attempted to cross the ball to Kah Wai spotted the MyRawk goalkeeper off the line and within a split second managed to calculate the bearing, angle, position of the sun and wind resistance before launching a world-class lob over the unfortunate MyRawk keeper.

It was a memorable day for LYN, as they successfully trapped the MyRawkers offside countless of times. Makeshift captain (due to having the loudest voice), Doggyjames remarked, "We have showed again today that its not whether you win or lose. Its how you play the offside traip".

The final score was LYN 15 MyRawk 3... in terms of offside.





















As for goals, MyRawk scored 3.

We played pretty well for a make-shift team... Many of us improvised without knowing their exact position when going into the field, and it turned out quite steady... We managed to suppressed their mid-field a couple of times and broke through their backline, though the conversion did not work out.

Kinda amazing that we've got the offside trap worked up pretty well in this game and killed off many of their high potential chances, kudos to the back 4.

We did okay in the first 2-halfs, except in 3rd half where some of us had their stamina bar turned red and for a while our back 4 were totally different, but it's still okay, it's only 3-1, better than Wigan vs Spurs... lol

Though we got defeated, but there were plenty of moments that actually cheer us up... like doggyjames suddenly lost his balance and fell to the ground when trying to mix into MyRawk's wall for a free kick (i think he tried asking the ref for a yellow card to be brandished over a MyRawk player for pushing him, but ref was not interested, haha ). Anyway, Good game guys!
