The reason why I did not get the port set to 4095 for the past one week while the second level people kept on saying that my port had been configured may times is very simple
They set the wrong port!!
And this was pointed out by the technician
because he found out the port number that I'm using does not tally with the port number provided in the service sheet
and he called to the respective department to reset my port with the actual port number
although it was not immediately upgraded
I logged on to the internet just now and found that it had been upgraded

I spoke with the technician why such a blunder could happen
he said maybe it was because the installer who came to check and activated my upgrade provided the wrong port number to TM

Hope my story can be shared to others that are facing the same problem like me
Insist on asking TM to send their own technician to your house to check
and ask them to check whether your port number tally with the one in the service sheet
it might be the same blunder done by the useless vendor
*
The same shoddy job that I experienced when I was in my previous house. The contractor was useless .. they charged you for installation fee but did a shoddy job. Crosstalk etc .. Then TM sent the real tech who came complete with the equipment .. and found out exactly as what you've experienced .. worst still, the tech guy need to go to two places to fix, the crosstalk problem was at the rocket thingy and the adsl problem was at the cabinet.. I guess the same case goes to my recent problem when the guy couldn't detect that my modem was on .. while I was happily surfing away.. I guess the stupid contractor gave them the wrong port number ..

i'm in TTDI, and the installer dude said my line only supports 2MB. I'm like WTF?

Ask him how he know, he shows me the UI on his Riger modem, and true enough, it says 2MB.

But before this dude came, my Aztech modem shows 4096/512 (but only getting max of 1.5MB download cuz I subscribed to the 1Mb package). I took the offer for the cheapo upgrade to 4MB. After the installer left (with me being disappointed that I don't get 4MB), I hook my modem back up and WTF? My line now says 2048/480?

So I have a feeling that I'm being shortchanged somewhere. How can the line suddenly show max speed of 2048 when before the dude came, it showed 4096.

Totally upset!

Call 100 .. and ask them to ask the installer to put you back on 4MB port and do the test again.

Yup, most latest modems will work just fine .. just that some could handle the line much better than the others .. I don't have any comparison info on this tho'.. just that the old Billion is working just fine for my 1Mbps line before and it works the same on the new one. I still have TMNet's riger in the box .. it worth nothing I guess .. have it as backup for now.

thx but the link you gave me was regards to SNR...unfortunately there's not much one can do about attenuation..

weirdly though, he said can't support 2MB either..but right now i'm getting 2MB speed.
*
SNR & attenuation come hand in hand.. raising a SNR will lower down the attenuation. Probably if they put yours into 2Mbps, it will be useless since the port speed is already at 2048 and you're already capped to 1.5Mbps for the 1Mbps. To get higher speed, they need to put your port to a higher speed than 2Mbps but since the test shown that your line is not capable of doing so .. nothing much you could do really..

im used to be capped at 5120 but sumhow its reset back to 4096.. how come its reset back? weird.. n the speedtest below are the best from a couple of test ive done.. i sometime managed to only get 0.9mb from LA but i placed here the highest among the test..
*
Probably some smart asses decided that they're smart enough and switch you to 4096 .. nothing much you could do other than to call them back again and asking that they put back the speed at 5120.

dude.. isnt the SNR are supposed to be above 15dB for a decent connection? urs are -0.1dB which is negative! .. Seems bad or either thats the output power ur saying which is possible to be negative.
*
Installer's modem might be broken .. using his or your modem should get almost the same SNR (san few dB off probably) .. If you think they're sending an incompetent installer .. ask them to send TM techie instead .. from my experience and from reading the rest .. most TM installers are pretty useless !!

BTW .. wondering what this 124 ip address until I realised mine is also on 124 and not 115 now. Did few speedtest run and some of the test gave me > 5Mbps .. and test to Jakarta, Singapore gave me > 4Mbps .. but a bit jumpy (the indicator stop a while after reaching 4Mbps and jumped to 6Mbps and stop there) .. don't care much as long as my work is not affected ..

Hey guys, i upgraded my Streamyx from 1MB(RM88) to 4MB under Blockbuster Deal, n the line was activated on 16/3/2010. My monthly subscription fee should be RM140 or RM160 ? At the moment, they still charged me RM160. Called 100, they also insisted it RM160 not RM140 for 4MB.

Check your form, sometime TMPoint reps are so slobbish and didn't register you to the correct package .. that happened to me.. but am waiting for another month or so before moving to unifi when it is available.. so be it ..

Thanks for the advise, will check when i get home later. But, is that means it should be RM140 if Im on Blockbuster Deal package ?
*
I guess it depends on when you registered yours and when TM introduce the lower RM140 package.. take a look at the form and see what rate did you sign up for.

Almost similar to my case, tho in my case, the new rate was introduced before I applied and TMPoint didn't bother to let me know.. I learned about the new rate a day after I applied .. and when I asked the call centre, they said that I'm on the new rate .. but when the bill came, it was on the old rate.. ohwell.. go to TMPoint and argue your case .. at least it save you RM240 for a year contract..
