P2P always unstable...... Depend seeder from where u connect.
*
Private tracker connection. No problems there.
It appears after my monitoring, that it takes about 10 minutes for the p2p to go high speed. Previously it was relatively quicker.

Download window in my house is 1am to 8am because internet is shared
The speed is pretty much smooth sailing after 10-15minutes

Torrentflux is good.
Thing is, either you find a US server, or the European servers need to change to normal IP, plus need to pay.

I used Tflux for close to 8 months, then decided to stop since i could easily reach full speed with utorrent+private tracker.

Guys,

Here's a very interesting situation.

I am on 4Mb combo, with line capped at 5Mb. Previously, when doing speedtest to local servers, I get 4.3Mb, but when downloading from international sites, I get a consistent and steady 3.6Mb.

That's okay - I won't complain, because 3.6Mb is still very good. It was like this for a few months already.

But yesterday I upgraded to Windows 7. Now, suddenly, I am downloading from internaitonal sites at the FULL 4.3Mb. No change to router, no change in settings.

I was shocked at first. So I opened my laptop, which is still on XP, and on the same router, both connected by cable, I compared side by side. Taking turns to download the SAME file, my XP machine was still at 3.6MB, but my W7 machine was running at 4.2Mb.

I got an extra 512k just by upgrading to W7! It's very strange I know, and I can't explain it. But it's the truth, so maybe others should try to see if it works!

Try to use a bw monitor and set to average speed
http://www.bwmonitor.com/

Theoretically speaking, it should average around 3.99Mbps.

Stupid TM installed my 2nd Homeline at the DSLAM 4.62KM from my house, cannot register for 4Mbps Unipack
1st homeline using 2Mbps.

I wish to ask, is the switching of DSLAM as easy as a few mouse clicks for them? Or it'll take xxxxxxxxxkm of red tape?

Your technician misunderstood you. He thinks you want a 4Mbps with a 5Mbps account cap.
I get this a lot when I talk to 1st level at '100', most of them know nuts, while trying to get my 2Mbps to be capped at 3Mbps, and I do not get to talk to 2nd level.
Try ask him to specifically call IPNOC regarding the cap thing so that your line can reach 4Mbps, or perhaps tell him that your 4Mbps cap cannot "go all the way"

Otherwise, you can just wait for the 14 days to pass and then you make a report with the Advance Troubleshotting Team a.k.a 2nd level support.
It seems they are quite knowledgeble. I made a call to them and they straightaway understood what I meant by a 5Mbps cap and I still need to wait till tomorrow because they said "system down" whatever that means.

Just be patient

The heavy downloader has stopped downloading. That's big news!!

Anyways, while applying for 4mbps today, i realized this

TM POINT - For application, Phone line issues ( I requested them to move my phone line to a nearer cabinet)
Cust Care email - Check port availiability, general complaints
'100' - Anything that can be done with a mouse click.

It seems that TM has so many 'frontline' people, but thing is, function of 100 and TM point doesn't overlap. What's the point when you give a call and they ask u to go TM Point to settle.
Cust Care email is alright, but they take at least 2 working days to reply.

can "100" check in which cabinet my phone lines routing to.. ??

When they say nearest exchange.. does that mean the cabinet? (the box which you see on the street..)

If yes then there is one just 2 roads a way.. how can that be too far or affect my SNR
*
'100' cannot check your line distance
The calculation that TM used is 13dB/km my guesstimate. Because the requirements are 40dB line attenuation && less than 3KM distance.
You can agak agak from your line attenuation values.

Gave the CSR at TM point a very hard time. Well they made me wait for 1.5 hours to begin with. Was lucky to get a rather knowledgeble CSR in the TM point. When I first applied, my line distance was 4+km, which is more than the max 3km for 4mbps. (took 1 week of waiting to find that out). Distance got reduce to 2.5km but failed testing. Called 100, talked to them for 30 minutes and was sent to TM point. Talked to a 'not so pro' CSR that had to walk in and out of her 'office' She wrote an email to get my distance reduce eventually.
*fingers crossed*

It seems that it is not so simple as going into TM point and telling them to change your box, they have to be 'convinced'.

@mx510 remember the download king T-shirt from P1? Maybe you should print it, with screenshot of your 'achievement'

The directive mentions 90% of maximum speed to the nearest BRAS. I guess in laymen terms, that means to the 1st TM router that you are connected to, maybe the nearest cabinet/exchange?
Any malaysian speedtest server wouldn't be the nearest BRAS

Go to TM point and try to reason with them, or SKMM

I'm currently facing a similar issue. Though mine is the long distance that results in low SNR.
Have requested them to move the line to a nearer DSLAM. They did this once already, since initially my line distance was too long to even allow me to apply for 4mbps.
They wrote an email to (I assume) northern region HQ - Penang, since I registered at Cyberjaya for Alor Setar homeline. No reply since 1 week ago, so I wrote SKMM a 'love letter'. Hopefully they update me soon.

^ Line Attenuation > 40dB, you can't even apply for 4Mbps, if you passed that, you'll fail technical testing, since the worksheet says line attenuation must be less than 40dB

I guess some guides ought to be made for this

Can we change to RM 140 plan ?
*
But I thought you migrated to Unipack 4Mbps?

It appears that we have to change plan to Blockbuster deal. But no DECT phone since it is a same speed migration.
Or downgrade and then upgrade to 4Mbps via super upgrade, but I don't know whether installation would be charged.

Otherwise, we should be quoting the press interview by the CEO on some dailies, complain to MCMC, and ask him to honour whatever he said. But still, our press likes to 'misquote' people. So they'll use the lame excuse and shoo us away. Fyi, i sent the press release + twitter by TMcorp to the Cust Care email, apparently, they don't care.

You mean you had to pay RM88 to migrate from 4Mbps streamyx combo to 4Mbps Blockbuster deal?
Thats daylight robbery

Can anyone tell me why my speed is slow even though upgrade to 4 MB? Download speed still in 1.5 MB range which is 120 - 140 KBPS.

Now download stuff also 2 - 10 KB. Can anyone tell me how to complain to TMNet since they just keep on spouting useless nonsense like you get 3.4 MB from TMNet Speedometer is fine liao or System down =_=
*
I'm gonna repeat what they say, if you have 3.4Mbps speed test, it means your 4Mbps is working.
Since you got such a slow speedtest, why not call 100 and tell them you got less than 3.4Mbps.

Torrent speed depends on Seed/Peer Ratio. 1000Seeds but 10000 peers and your speed will still be slow.
Try google on how to speed up your torrent, instead of ranting here about how slow your torrent is on your Streamyx.
Want better speeds, you go invest in Rapidshare/MU/HF etc.

Called 100 today they said that my application is still pending, then i asked y take so long, he said he dunno also and tell me to call TMpoint where i applied shakehead.gif . Do anybody encounter this problem?? Around 2weeks time already, Do I really have to wait so long for their call and help to upgrade my connection??

I went to TM point to change from Streamyx combo 4Mbps to BB deal 4Mbps. The CSR initially said there will be a charge since I am migrating from Wired Modem to Wireless Modem. Cannot choose whether i want the modem or not. If this is really the case, totally unfair practice by TM.

Made a call to '100', and was given a 'No charge...RM 0, free upgrade' reply.

This is madness.

However, will monitor the IP. Just migrated to Blockbuster deal. Hopefully TM don't do anything funny.

Your speedtest cannot reach full speed, or your MU/Rapid/HF etc or torrent not reaching full speed?
