@fongzai - ur tank inside the shell...wont it be very hot??no ventilation wor..how is the temp a?

28 degree.. Same with 1ft.. I got use fan.

im looking at it.. how does HOB and my top filter now differ in terms of co2 loss?
both goes in one side and flows out gently the other side..no water disturbance/bubbles..

im wondering in which part of the filter that this co2 loss happens

canisters no doubt would be the best! =D
btw anyone diy a canister before?

top filter, water drops from the top regardless of water level...
HOB, especially with long "lips" touching the water surface, water slide down with less wave/bubble...

for my shrimp tank i dun care about co2 loss... i'm planting low tech plants... my main concern is my shrimps getting sufficient o2 or not...

Simple, surface area. the water surface area which is moving gives off more c02.. hence c02 loss.. HOBs have smaller suface areas vs top filters though... Canister still being the best haha.

yes if the water go below then it wont suck up water..i have to not top up water for a month la for the tank water level to go that low...
the bubbles when the water flows down? i've eliminated the "bubble" already by using some very complicated method i sumbat up there lol! now zero bubbles

I read and watch b4 people DIY canister but nid water tight container. doesn't look good anyway go buy better... wa ur gf work at midvalley? ooo... can go EA Studio... I bubble proof my top filter by putting the output right on top of the support glass bar n the water level right below the bar... zero bubbles too

@chuppy - everyone here agrees wif u that HOB n canisters r by far d best methods for filtration.

Ooo.... my female guppy gave birth after I seperate her last night... Just now counted around 10... Still got to come she is still a little fat... Now I dunno want to remove the hood of my 3 footer when I turn it into planted tank.... No space put canister filter so I'm thinking HOB I like the looks of them but if remove hood then nid to buy lighting which should be expensive... AquaZonic looks cool but expensive... That day EA Studio sell the system without fluorescent tube for 2 or 3 feet is RM218!!! Lol planting a lot of glosso in a small tank is hard... Plant one then the runner beside it will float up... Then my cory dig some more... Then now my DIY co2 crawling wif semut....

i dont know why but i hatE HOB! the filter area is so small... one piece of wool a few bio rings and thats about it.. i dont trust it eventho alot of people are using emm!absolute hate it lol

Mic.. very reason why all my filters are canisters... Except for my shrimp tanks.. those are sump.

ooo... thinking of starting iwagumi... Unker Drew put stem plants behind rocks of iwagumi is that ok? I nid to perfect my aquascaping skill which is very bad now lol
