Graphics - depends on the games. Each consoles can dish out very beautiful games, it is up to the game developers to optimize the graphics for each consoles. But due to the laziness of some developers, you might see some difference between consoles. But really, the case of this happening are not frequent.

Lasting - I only have my PS3 Slim for 3 months, so can't say how long it can last. X360 however is still prone to RROD esepcially if you are gaming for more than 5 hrs wan. Need to make sure your area are well ventilated. I buy 2 X360 in less than 2 yrs due to RROD beyond repair on one of the consoles.

Each console have almost every variety of games. BUT X360 seems to have more FPS games, while PS3 have more adventure type games? Hard to describe this. Again, this will depend on which type of games you like.

Good to hear ur thoughts, I love playing games like Crysis, COD, GTA, NFS, and more on those racing + action. But im afraid of getting consoles. So far on my search throughout the net, i heard many complaints on the YROD for PS3 and RROD in X360. Im afraid of buyin it and ending up waste as it fails. Im extreme gamer n i do play like more than 6 hours straight. So, should i get the console? My home has no AC, n kinda Hot here. Even my lappy gets overheated sometimes.

possibility to get YLOD again is high, cost to repair is around RM400, even some sellers here give 1 month warranty, I doubt that it can last long within a month..which give some signs before end up YLOD again, fan goes hyperdrive mode, sudden switch off, always freezing

I would say PS3 is more well-designed in term of giving the machine a ventilation.

Also, another reason to choose PS3 is :

- free online
- no fear of getting banned online. X360 users who modded their consoles will have to live in fear of facing ban by Micro$oft. And Micro$oft like to ban people especially during Oct- nov time frame so that people have to shell out money for another console. If you are hardcore online gamer, i would say PS3 is a safer bet.

The PS3 got 2 version rite, the FAT one and the SLIM one. I heard now all is SLIM, so, is the SLIM better or FAT better? SLIM seems like can OVERHEAT. Any comments on that?

TS, i can only advise you to do some research first. See the list of games available for each consoles. Which one you like more? Go for the one you like more. To me, what important are the games. Last time, PS3 don't have much games that interest me, which is why i choose X360. Now, PS3 got lots of nice games already so naturally, i just move to PS3.

As for Slim or Fat PS3, i would say take Slim. Check the specs of each and you can see Slim is better in power management, power distribution although it lacks linux (not going to affect those that just want to play games only)

You're really looking for trouble I won't entertain this post.

Anyways to TS, you have to consider the games that is available for the console such as Left 4 Dead 2 only for Xbox 360 and Final Fantasy Versus 13 is only for PS3, find the console which have most game suit you best. Furthermore, online experience is totally different between the two console. In my opinion, I prefer Xbox Live to be better and considered to pay the services very-very reasonable. Also TS has to consider the functions of the consoles such that Playstation 3 is an entertainment console for Blu Ray Movies , Web Browsing & Gaming while Xbox 360 is mostly made for gaming. DVD & Blu Ray Disc is also another topic to discuss about their pro & cons.

Well, i got story for you consoles will ALWAYS be inferior to PC because hello...$$$ talks. You can't have BOTH cake and eat it to..u know.

And if you hate problems. generally, PC is the most stable...spare parts are cheap and u can fix it yourself.

Most importantly, it's about games...you're a PC gamers and most console games probably won't interest u much. And you'll feel bad when u play inferior version of PC ports on ur console...even a cheap RM3xx ATI 4850 coupled with a decent quadcore can outdo any PS3 and XBOX.

Btw, i don't see why u need to upgrade every 6 months...a good GPU can easily last 2 or 3 years....my ATI 4850 still rocks and runs DMC4 and SF4 way better than the PS3 version.,,,and i only use a duo-core, not even quad core...

My advice: forget about console and get a good mid range GPU...easily last you a couple of years...and still probably looks better than the console version.

PS:I'm not dissing console. I love console games more than PC games...but now has retired from console gaming and mostly play a little on the PC....(and a loads of nice CAPCOM console games is now on PC with better performance.. )

I do agree with some of ur points. But what i meant by $$$ is that, a PC which u buy now say approx RM4K worth of hdware, in 2 years time is like "CHEAP LIKE HELL" and u know that price falls like crazy, for the past 10years of my exp, its just changes so fast, of course its a good thing, tech stuff needs BOOM! all the time. consoles are the other side, u get 1 and it guarantees ur gaming like 'Years' as long as the dev produces the games, ie: PS2, its been so long n yet they still have games runin n lots of it, (of course new ones no more) but we can see the major diff in the dev peak.

PC the other end, keeps getin faster n better + game dev is pushing the GPU to the limit for better games. I stil remember when GTA IV pops out, many mid end PC's suffers low graphics performance capability, so as a gamer for years, i have also own more than 3 PC's and each one is not like CAN UPGRADE foreeeeveeeer... so it needs change. So if u don f $$$ prob, then its ok.

Lets cap back 3 years, when u can have P4 3.X GHz HT, with 2GB RAM n some ATi X series GPU. Does it allows u to play games like crysis n so on? Its a NO. So PC gaming grows damn fast than consoles, so console is pretty much stable for gamers. (In My Opinion even though i didnt own any consoles before as i was PC freak, which now im kinda seeing the other side)

When you using pc to play games..have you ever buy original games ? If one original games cost you rm 150 .. 10 games already cost you rm 1500..

If that is your consideration for original games then you just might as well upgrade your pc...

well these days, famous action/adventure/3PS/FPS are released on consoles first, if not simultaneously on both consoles and PC. DMC4, GTA4, RE5, Dirt2, AC2, you name it, all of those were released on consoles first. So regardless whether the delay was justified for more time to make better graphics, a delay is still a delay. The genres that makes PC special are nothing but MMORPG, RTS, simulation and some FPS.

Well, FYI, a decent machine doesn't really need 4K. A 2K plus machine still can play all the games today...hey, even my C2DE4500 + 4850 can run Crysis decently...(not that i care about Crysis or any FPS that is..i hate FPS). GTA is a very bad example for comparison...because Rockstar games has a history of bad PC ports...and their engines are simply crap compared to other games of the same era.

And my E4500 i believe is > 2 years old...still can play all my games..in fact, just starting to play Dragon's Age Origin now...max reso (1680 x1050 (my monitor can only go this high), 4X AA, High details yadda...butter smooth). Other not too old games....Wolverine, LFD, DMC4, SF4IV, NFSS,RE5 runs just fine on my PC.

IMO. FPS games are the most demanding...if you're not into FPS like me, most games can run very smooth (even RE5 runs fine on my machine max settings). If you're into FPS, then, you'll get degraded performance and quality on a console.

So as i said it..no two ways...if you want max performance, then it's PC. But a decent PC still can play all the games if you're willing to tone down the graphics a bit...(and it'll still probably looks a bit nicer than consoles). If I'm going to buy a console, i'll look at the games and what's exclusive rather than hardware power...the PS3 is after all, an ancient NVIDIA 7800XT inside...

Also, remember other subsystem plays an important part as well...i find the loading on SFIV PS3 version is so slow compared to the PC. I believe PC will always have faster loading no matter what, coz all the data are on the hard disk while on console, most likely only part of the files are on disk in order to save precious(and expensive) console hard disk space.

And yeah consoles tends to break down very easily....from PS1, PS2( I own 3 of this!!) to XBOX360 famous RROD. Older catridges based consoles are more stable, but once Optical drive and hard disk are introduced, things tends to go bad very fast...coupled with high heat of modern GPU in cramped casing...it's a recipe for disaster.

Anyway, this is just some consideration for you. Another suggestion...maybe u should wait for Project Natal (next year, me thinks) and see what MS has up their sleeve b4 any commitment.

As far as i know Ps3 had the most advanced ram over the xbox.Unfortunately they had failed to fully utlize it.
The fat ps3 still triumphs over the slim version due to the reduce cost on hardware spend on the slim one. The 1st gen fat ps3 had almost the top notch materials spent on it. But due to the age of the console it might be a bit risky to buy refurbish units from someone u don't know. The slim version ps3 definitely is a better choice if u cant find any option since it comes with warranty. For xb0x i cant really comment it since i've heard their graphic is more smoother then ps3 which i believe is true. However if you really opt for purely hd rpgs and interactives, i believe ps3 could be a better choice.

By the way i believe is that if you done enough homework on the web, no matter it's xbox or ps3. If you did maintain it propely, the chances of it breaking down is near to none. Peeps who tends to complain alot on their consoles breakin down is mainly because, they were mislead by next gen consoles as some super entertainment machines. 24/7 on pc can also get your graphic card or any component busted not to mention consoles.

Actually, the PS3 is not a good choice for RPGs. It's only advantage is Final Fantasy and even now that is being ported to XBOX if i'm correct. And XBOX has BIOWare games, which PS3 doesn't......and XBOX has much more Japanese RPG support now. IMO, XBOX360 is the better RPG machine this generation...best of east and west.

Umm, Dragon Age IS MADE BY BIOWARE, and it is available for PS3.

Frankly speaking, either it is me or the RPGs on X360 did not really entice me. Last Remant, Lost Odyssey, Tales of Vesperia etc, i can't get into any of it. I still find myself going back to FFVII, FFVIII and FFIX on emulators to relive the old days only. I am just hoping that FFXIII will give me the same feelings.

There is every reason.

1. Graphic not so good. Sure, some games are simply not cater for graphic whore, but once you see the HD-graphic, you can't turn back to SD.

2. Wii is more on gimmick gameplay. Waggle this stick, waggle your body la. This is not something that will stick to
hardcore gamers.

3. Hardcore gamers started with a nintendo system. there is no reason for them to avoid the Wii. Yes, we all start from
Nintendo. But look at the games that Nintendo gives last time. they have everything that a gamer wants. look at wii now. games are watered down, waggle added in just simply becos it has it. Not well implemented. etc etc.

problem is.. hardcore gamer have no choice but to buy Wii because of that few good games.

Good info there, I am more like on all games, coz i love FPS, those racing type NFS as i played all their series n Shift also completed, then i oso play those RA3, DMC4 and my all time fav GTA! So, seeing both PS3 n X360 games, its good for it is rite now.

PS3 - Uncharted 2, Demon Souls, Little Big Planet...

Wii - Resident Evil: Darkside Chronicles, Tales of Graces, New Super Mario Bros Wii, Monster Hunter 3

Actually all 3 have pretty good library to select from, but my preference is 360 > Wii > PS3

i'm saying like that because 5-10 ps3 (depending on the age of the game) is about the price of 1 console.and u obviously dont have such money.

Both almost the same lah..
PS3 games are expensive (rm 160-RM220)but no need to pay for online experience
XBOX360 games are cheaper(Rm140-Rm180) but need to pay online experience

so at the end of the day they are the same..

isn't that the numbers of exclusive Xbox 360 is getting lesser and duller since the last few months. Basically Xbox 360 exclusives can be found on PC too. So if you just judge by the list of games, PS3 have an upperhand in terms of exclusives it has got.

Xbox 360 games just a tad cheaper, but it is harder to find, and much lower resale value, from what I observe in garage sales.

Consoles almost all the same unless you are the type that goes for pirated ones only.

Beware of peep in here who tries to entice u to buy any console. Do your own research and homework accordingly to what type u want.

Due to the heavy competition between 3 consoles, u wont see much promising games with some spontaneous features. It's more on FPS , Interactive , smulation with heavy HD elements focused these days. All 3 consoles have it and none of them lacks any of the above mentioned flavours.

The few interesting game which caught my attention is idolmaster and the DOA beach game which ps3 nv had. That's the only 2 fancy game i find it interesting for xbox360. Yea till these days , sony still on their own track without listening to what most gamers demands.

Wii is never HD to begin with. You don't see heavy games like RE5, AC2, Dirt 2 available on Wii, coz the graphic in Wii is as good as PS2/Xbox 1 only

Both gives only 1 YEAR, i wonder what happened to the 3 YEARs RUMOURS... Anybody?

X360 - Can get AHEM2 games
PS3 - All ORI only

Types of Games:
I found my most fav games are from X360, Some on PS3... Not interested in Wii curently...

once u mod ur xbox, official warranty becomes invalid

unfortunately not much does care over these despite the result they gonna get.

I had a few friends who explain that ps3 too expensive and xbox play offline enough no need online. They just want to spend 1k plus to buy 1/2 the feeling of it rather then experiencing fully what xbox had lol.
