TS, i can only advise you to do some research first. See the list of games available for each consoles. Which one you like more? Go for the one you like more. To me, what important are the games. Last time, PS3 don't have much games that interest me, which is why i choose X360. Now, PS3 got lots of nice games already so naturally, i just move to PS3.

As for Slim or Fat PS3, i would say take Slim. Check the specs of each and you can see Slim is better in power management, power distribution although it lacks linux (not going to affect those that just want to play games only)

Anyways to TS, you have to consider the games that is available for the console such as Left 4 Dead 2 only for Xbox 360 and Final Fantasy Versus 13 is only for PS3, find the console which have most game suit you best. Furthermore, online experience is totally different between the two console. In my opinion, I prefer Xbox Live to be better and considered to pay the services very-very reasonable. Also TS has to consider the functions of the consoles such that Playstation 3 is an entertainment console for Blu Ray Movies , Web Browsing & Gaming while Xbox 360 is mostly made for gaming. DVD & Blu Ray Disc is also another topic to discuss about their pro & cons.

First u mentioned extreme graphics, no compromise, blah...then u said ur limited by budget...can't upgrade PC blah...

Well, i got story for you consoles will ALWAYS be inferior to PC because hello...$$$ talks. You can't have BOTH cake and eat it to..u know.

And if you hate problems. generally, PC is the most stable...spare parts are cheap and u can fix it yourself.

Most importantly, it's about games...you're a PC gamers and most console games probably won't interest u much. And you'll feel bad when u play inferior version of PC ports on ur console...even a cheap RM3xx ATI 4850 coupled with a decent quadcore can outdo any PS3 and XBOX.

Btw, i don't see why u need to upgrade every 6 months...a good GPU can easily last 2 or 3 years....my ATI 4850 still rocks and runs DMC4 and SF4 way better than the PS3 version.,,,and i only use a duo-core, not even quad core...

My advice: forget about console and get a good mid range GPU...easily last you a couple of years...and still probably looks better than the console version.

PS:I'm not dissing console. I love console games more than PC games...but now has retired from console gaming and mostly play a little on the PC....(and a loads of nice CAPCOM console games is now on PC with better performance.. )

I do agree with some of ur points. But what i meant by $$$ is that, a PC which u buy now say approx RM4K worth of hdware, in 2 years time is like "CHEAP LIKE HELL" and u know that price falls like crazy, for the past 10years of my exp, its just changes so fast, of course its a good thing, tech stuff needs BOOM! all the time. consoles are the other side, u get 1 and it guarantees ur gaming like 'Years' as long as the dev produces the games, ie: PS2, its been so long n yet they still have games runin n lots of it, (of course new ones no more) but we can see the major diff in the dev peak.

PC the other end, keeps getin faster n better + game dev is pushing the GPU to the limit for better games. I stil remember when GTA IV pops out, many mid end PC's suffers low graphics performance capability, so as a gamer for years, i have also own more than 3 PC's and each one is not like CAN UPGRADE foreeeeveeeer... so it needs change. So if u don f $$$ prob, then its ok.

Lets cap back 3 years, when u can have P4 3.X GHz HT, with 2GB RAM n some ATi X series GPU. Does it allows u to play games like crysis n so on? Its a NO. So PC gaming grows damn fast than consoles, so console is pretty much stable for gamers. (In My Opinion even though i didnt own any consoles before as i was PC freak, which now im kinda seeing the other side)

When you using pc to play games..have you ever buy original games ? If one original games cost you rm 150 .. 10 games already cost you rm 1500..

If that is your consideration for original games then you just might as well upgrade your pc...

2) no such thing...only if you are lucky then your console will last long... I have purchased ps2(fat) back in 2001 and still can be used until today without any problem...and my brother buy ps2(slim) in year 2006, after 2 years its broken already...

well these days, famous action/adventure/3PS/FPS are released on consoles first, if not simultaneously on both consoles and PC. DMC4, GTA4, RE5, Dirt2, AC2, you name it, all of those were released on consoles first. So regardless whether the delay was justified for more time to make better graphics, a delay is still a delay. The genres that makes PC special are nothing but MMORPG, RTS, simulation and some FPS.

Well, FYI, a decent machine doesn't really need 4K. A 2K plus machine still can play all the games today...hey, even my C2DE4500 + 4850 can run Crysis decently...(not that i care about Crysis or any FPS that is..i hate FPS). GTA is a very bad example for comparison...because Rockstar games has a history of bad PC ports...and their engines are simply crap compared to other games of the same era.

And my E4500 i believe is > 2 years old...still can play all my games..in fact, just starting to play Dragon's Age Origin now...max reso (1680 x1050 (my monitor can only go this high), 4X AA, High details yadda...butter smooth). Other not too old games....Wolverine, LFD, DMC4, SF4IV, NFSS,RE5 runs just fine on my PC.

IMO. FPS games are the most demanding...if you're not into FPS like me, most games can run very smooth (even RE5 runs fine on my machine max settings). If you're into FPS, then, you'll get degraded performance and quality on a console.

So as i said it..no two ways...if you want max performance, then it's PC. But a decent PC still can play all the games if you're willing to tone down the graphics a bit...(and it'll still probably looks a bit nicer than consoles). If I'm going to buy a console, i'll look at the games and what's exclusive rather than hardware power...the PS3 is after all, an ancient NVIDIA 7800XT inside...

Also, remember other subsystem plays an important part as well...i find the loading on SFIV PS3 version is so slow compared to the PC. I believe PC will always have faster loading no matter what, coz all the data are on the hard disk while on console, most likely only part of the files are on disk in order to save precious(and expensive) console hard disk space.

And yeah consoles tends to break down very easily....from PS1, PS2( I own 3 of this!!) to XBOX360 famous RROD. Older catridges based consoles are more stable, but once Optical drive and hard disk are introduced, things tends to go bad very fast...coupled with high heat of modern GPU in cramped casing...it's a recipe for disaster.

Anyway, this is just some consideration for you. Another suggestion...maybe u should wait for Project Natal (next year, me thinks) and see what MS has up their sleeve b4 any commitment.

As far as i know Ps3 had the most advanced ram over the xbox.Unfortunately they had failed to fully utlize it.
The fat ps3 still triumphs over the slim version due to the reduce cost on hardware spend on the slim one. The 1st gen fat ps3 had almost the top notch materials spent on it. But due to the age of the console it might be a bit risky to buy refurbish units from someone u don't know. The slim version ps3 definitely is a better choice if u cant find any option since it comes with warranty. For xb0x i cant really comment it since i've heard their graphic is more smoother then ps3 which i believe is true. However if you really opt for purely hd rpgs and interactives, i believe ps3 could be a better choice.

By the way i believe is that if you done enough homework on the web, no matter it's xbox or ps3. If you did maintain it propely, the chances of it breaking down is near to none. Peeps who tends to complain alot on their consoles breakin down is mainly because, they were mislead by next gen consoles as some super entertainment machines. 24/7 on pc can also get your graphic card or any component busted not to mention consoles.

Actually, the PS3 is not a good choice for RPGs. It's only advantage is Final Fantasy and even now that is being ported to XBOX if i'm correct. And XBOX has BIOWare games, which PS3 doesn't......and XBOX has much more Japanese RPG support now. IMO, XBOX360 is the better RPG machine this generation...best of east and west.

Umm, Dragon Age IS MADE BY BIOWARE, and it is available for PS3.

Frankly speaking, either it is me or the RPGs on X360 did not really entice me. Last Remant, Lost Odyssey, Tales of Vesperia etc, i can't get into any of it. I still find myself going back to FFVII, FFVIII and FFIX on emulators to relive the old days only. I am just hoping that FFXIII will give me the same feelings.
