As far as many of us are concern, protein is a must. Looking at the amount of eggs we consume, Protein shake, beef, red meat ,lean meat, etc, it must be really alot.

Many of the site suggests that excessive protein made our urine foamy and bubly. It is also a sign of kidney failure

I myself has foamy and bubbly urine. I'm worried whether i have contracted kidney problem or not. I'll go get urine analysis, but i'd like to hear from u guys.

Coz i read it at menshealth magazine. although our body can process only 20g of protien each day, higher amount of protien doesn't hazardous to health. BTW you have to drink enough of water coz it essential in protien syntesis.

You sure? One scoop of ON whey has 24g of protein in it...a chicken breast has 30g of protein in it.

Just follow the 1-1.5g per pound of body weight rule and you should be safe.

You're one of those guys... Here, let's help you.

Repeat after me.

Just because MensHealth (aka ministry of advertised information/misinformation) says it, doesn't mean you must follow every bit and tit of it. MensHealth is like Louie Simmons. It works, to a certain extent. Not to the extent, they market it to work. GHR machine, works good. But not as amazing as he says it is.

omg. this chat is sooo like, arguing on little facts la.
1. The body can definitely absorb more than 20g per day. No doubt in the world. Not even close. Need prove? Try taking only 20g of protein a day for 2 weeks. Don't tell me u still feel good.
2. Protein-seekers aka bodybuilders pee more, of course. I'm a bodybuilder and I drink 7 to 8 litres of water per day. So if I pee 3 litres a day, I won't think there's anything wrong with me.
3. And men's health is very amateurish. I've read Flex, Muscle & Fitness, Planet Muscle, Muscular Development, Musclemag and really, Men's Health is like written by gym uncles and not experts in the sport.

a friend of mine who is now a final year medical student in UM, told me that when u work out, your muscles release creatine ( dont confuse this with the one u drink ) , which leads to bubbly urine.

One important question, if u have bubbly urine, and u feel tired all the time, fatigue etc, then there's some problem. If u have been working out and u're feeling healthy and energetic, dont care bout the bubbly urine

As for myself, i havent go do the urine test,. haha

bro,

from what i see yr urine color is thick yellow, hmm.gif it indicates that yr daily water intake is probably not sufficient.

i myself eat whey protein, NO, creatine (cycle), glutamin, multi-vits, fish oil daily for 3 years nw, with no bubbles prob... because i consumed 3-4 litres of water everyday. if you're a daily bodybuilder, flex.gif drinking lots of water is a MUST. even our blood and muscles are made of water..

our human body consists of 95% water, u can imagine wad hapen if u just drink only 1 cup of water daily, long-term wher all the penyakit comes (sembelit, scally-skin, rashes, headache, high blood pressure, dizzy, weak, hypertension, or even death... etc).

yr urine color must at least clear or slightly light yellow. Dark-colored yellow urine are indication of dehydration and therefore will cause major problems to your kidney in the future..

info on wiki: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Urine

+Colorless- indicates over-hydration, which is usually considered much healthier than dehydration. thumbup.gif

+Yellowing/light orange may be caused by removal of excess B vitamins from the bloodstream. Certain medications such as rifampin and pyridium can cause orange urine. nod.gif

+Dark yellow urine is usually indicative of dehydration. rclxub.gif

+Bloody urine is termed hematuria, potentially a sign of a bladder infection. Consumption of beets can cause urine to have a pinkish tint; the condition is harmless and temporary. wub.gif

+Dark orange to brown urine can be a symptom of jaundice, rhabdomyolysis, or Gilbert's syndrome. mad.gif

+Black or dark-colored urine is referred to as melanuria and may be caused by a melanoma. vmad.gif

+Reddish or brown urine may be caused by porphyria. Again, the consumption of beets can cause the urine to have a harmless, temporary pink or reddish tint. blush.gif

+Greenish color is usually a consequence of consuming asparagus. cool2.gif

+Fluorescent yellow / greenish urine may be caused by dietary supplemental vitamins, especially the B vitamins.

There are many factors that may implicate the matter.
If you pin it on protein intake, how much are you taking?

Do you keep your daily activity, diet - macros and micros and hydration level, constant?
Do you have a medical history within your family?

Of course nobody can diagnose you nor should you listen to anyone regarding your health but its too complicated to just say "its protein"

just to share my experience on end 2006, i had symptom nephrotic symdrome and went to Pantai Hospital to check what happen to me, if you have symptom of kidney failure, u will have this

1. oedema

2. fatigue

3. hypertension

4. swallow on your body

5. gastric

6. back pain

7. BUBBLY URINE and its yellowish

so what u must do when u have this symptom, go to hospital and do blood and urine test, and IF u have it are in proteineuria, mean that your kidney is on going to be failure, depend on what stages its, minimum change disease or top level,

so my advise to take protein for someone not active as body builder, take every 1 g equal to 1 kg of your weight, for instance if you are 60 kgs, take 60 grams protein a day, this what i paid when see the dietitian.

by the way, why is it when I consume protein powder, I tend to have smelly farts and when I'm in the toilet, my 'droppings' are usually watery, if I dont consumer protein powder then it will be normal. any reason why?

from ur link...

Why the test is performed:
Your doctor may order a kidney biopsy if you have an unexplained drop in kidney function, persistent blood in the urine, or protein in the urine. The test is sometimes used to evaluate a transplanted kidney.

i suggest u go easy on the protein intake...
