How can you be certain that 'the others' have the same perspectives?
We might have some the same perspective in certain issues, but the usage of stupidity does not limit to that certain issues or common sense.

For example, an experienced guitar player made a mistake in something that ONLY him on the stage really knows about.
He thinks that the mistake is stupid and next time he promises himself not to do the mistake again.

The others, the non guitar players couldn't detect the stupid mistake he made. They think that the guitar player has performed very well.

What is Stupidity??

1) Is that based of our own judgement that adopt since we r child ( affected by family, culture or surround environment that make us in diference common sense & behavior).
2) A person that cannot match our POV, or our expectation or our Limitation. (base on majority consciousness)
3) u r not in my group or types??

What does Stupidity can achieve???
1) Stupid men??
2) Great person??

Consciousness: Human behavior base on, morality, religion, mind set, logical, imaginative, analysis...etc
Uncousciousness: animal behavior live inside human, base on: lust, desire, strong, behavior, environment surrounding, actions, fizikal body limitation, curiosity, sense...etc

This depand on what (either cons or uncons gain upper hand) ocasion (environment) the person face. Or,
Depand on what do the person want to achieve, to prove, to seek....

Each person have diference of strength & weakness in term of fizikal & mental abilities. But majority judge a person first based on his/her own common sense (experiences).

Like the saying goes, ' dumb can be cured but stupidity are forever'

Maybe you borrowed that saying from Aristophanes quote. I'm wondering how did you casually / seriously characterize that at the PhD level, though it maybe true for your experience if you are forever on that belief. Perhaps there is common ground we can find from different cultural backgrounds. Can you ascertain further than that belief by relating to some quantitative & qualitative findings, so others could share those values?
