Man I have to agree with you guys, most of the dudes in SenQ and even some in Harvey norman just don't know their stuff. Brought my Star Wars Episode 3 to try and I'm quite disappointed that the LCDs refresh rate is quite bad. The first space battle scene just stutters and lags. Didn't happen to the plasmas and crts. Looked at the Samsung Slimfit, but somehow the display just wasn't that great. Dunno whether it was the settings or what. But seriously these fellas don't even know how to set their dvd players to progressive scan.

Which model is this Philips FullHD and how much was it in Denki? Was it the 42PFL9532 or 42PFL7422?

QUOTE(arj @ Sep 13 2007, 04:37 PM) Ah I see, this one is a bit suspect, if you look at the computer resolution it doesn't have 1920x1080. So kinda wondering why but the video resolution does show 1080p. Strange but good price if based on the Jusco price This post has been edited by CerebralRogue: Sep 13 2007, 04:46 PM

But if you look at the Philips Cineous range, it is actually one of the top rated LCDs together with the Panny. The problem with HDTVs is that almost every major manufacturer has at least 1 top rated screen and a large number of crappy ones.

Thinking of buying the Pana TH 42 PV70 (its UK brother the TH42PX70 just won the What HiFi 2007 Awards for best 42 inch screen. Any one here uses a this or a plasma? I guess for movies its good because of the blacker than black levels and good motion but how about games? Lag, refresh times...anyone care to comment?

Unfortunately must work within budget Are you connecting any next gen consoles to it? 360 or PS3? How's the performance?

QUOTE(welwitchia @ Jan 1 2008, 12:29 PM) Hey rx330, how much did u get u'r PV70 for? I saw the 50" Pioneer Kuro the other day showing Spiderman 3 and was absolutely floored by the colors and black levels. Its like watching a whole new movie..sorta made me a Plasma believer at that moment. I'm gonna be done with my car loan soon so i can definitely afford a brand new TV.. and this time I'm looking at 42 incher and I want a Plasma!!! Screw 1080p..lol, since at 42", I doubt i can tell a difference anyway. That's what I thought too, who needs 1080p at 42" Anyhow, Desa is selling it at 4488 I think but only 1 yr warranty...which makes it kinda risky. Rather get a 5 yr warranty.

QUOTE(welwitchia @ Jan 11 2008, 11:00 PM) Hey RX, did u consider the Hitachi P42A01A before getting u'r Panasonic? The Hitachi is RM 200 cheaper and i personally like the "looks/design" better.. Checked some reviews online on that as I was also suggested that model by a retailer and the main thing the reviews hated was the fact that 1 of the 2 HDMI ports is located in the front of the TV. Very unsightly. Also it has some weird 1080p resolution as it is not the typical 1900x1080 but something else, something to do with rectangular shaped pixels?

QUOTE(welwitchia @ Jan 12 2008, 02:37 AM) ^ I dunno.. I can't seem to find any reviews on it. Can u share those that u found? Wierd thing is that the panel has a 1024 * 1080 res.. I believe it can be had for less than 5K. BTW, have u bought the Panasonic yet or u're still looking? Do a search for Hitachi P42TP01, I think its the equivalent. Most likely getting the Panny end of the month after I move in to my new place. Money needs to go into fixtures and furniture now...so broke...

QUOTE(welwitchia @ Jan 12 2008, 07:32 PM) Hey Cerebral, I checked out the Hitachi today. The 2 HDMI ports are located behind..not in front. The thing is, the picture quality is not as vibrant and sharp as the Panasonic. The sales guy said its because the HDMI cable used for the Hitachi is longer than the one used for the Panasonic..thus a decrease in PQ. I find it hard to believe though. ORLY? Cool, I guess they fixed it for this market...hmm...well crappy cables do lose their signal quality over distance...might be safer to get the Panny. Sony also having some CNY promotion, lots of bundles with their HTIB solutions. Saw it in Midval. Added on January 13, 2008, 1:39 amAnyone here can recommend a HDMI switcher/splitter as well as a Toslink optical cable switcher? This post has been edited by CerebralRogue: Jan 13 2008, 01:40 AM

QUOTE(welwitchia @ Jan 13 2008, 03:01 PM) Hey Cerebral.. finally found a review on the Hitachi http://www.hometheatermag.com/plasmadisplays/807hit401/Don't think its as good as the Panasonic. Ah so! One thing I want to find out is whether the Panny accepts 1080p/24 , wonder if RX can answer that. I know it accepts 1080p and downscale, but dunno if its accepts the 24fps thing and display them without judder.

QUOTE(welwitchia @ Jan 14 2008, 12:06 AM) Don't think our retailers will drop the price any time soon since the new models are only gonna appear in mid-year. Actually Harvey is offering the PV70 for RM5499 with 5 years warranty. So how? U getting the PV70 or u gonna wait.. I thought u bought a LCD TV not long ago too right? What happened to it? Its still there, but its only 28", so will look tiny in the living area, so wanna get a new one. Will probably sell that one.

QUOTE(welwitchia @ Jan 19 2008, 10:45 PM) Cerebral, more news for u. HSL is having a road show at Midvalley Megamall. Panny PV70 going for RM4999 (5 Years Warranty).. Interested? Same with Denki, I think you can get it at 4900 if you don't go for the 0% payment.
