Pair it up Audio Note? Heard it's a combination.

Yes. Agree on that.
ProAc speakers need not only with good power but also with good control.
What amp that you are currently using?
Mind to share with us here? biggrin.gif

i was using the Classe Classe VA-200 power amp previously and i tried a pair of Pass lab Aleph 0 Monoblock ....didnt really sound nice with the Pass Lab....the best combo i have tried was with the Audio Research for Tube amp and also NVA AP80/P90 combo for transistor amp.....so far one of the best amp combo is still the AP80/p90....still keeping the system after i have changed my speaker to Hales system 2 signature...

Great systems there.
I have heard of Naim powering a pair of ProAc and it just doesn't sound right to my ears. Maybe it will suit someone else but not me. hahahaha... biggrin.gif

The Primare and ProAc combi also quite great.
Can be auditioned at CMY.

Oh ya.. when talked about ProAc, I still think of my friend's Audio Note OTO SE + ProAc Tablette 50 signature system.
Excellent sound at his place. rclxms.gif

Interesting... wouldn't have thought the power hungry ProAc would pair well with Audio Note.

Which reminds me to bring out my Oto SE Signature out of cold storage.

Audio Note amps are able to control the ProAc speakers, in my opinion. hmm.gif
ProAc speakers might be power hungry but on the other hand, they have friendly impedance and also high sensitivity (except the latest top model with carbon fibre drivers).
So, they are actually not extremely hard to drive.

Please dont leave your Audio Note in cold storage.
Take it out to do some exercises. biggrin.gif

Another speaker that i always find facinating is the Acoustic Energy AE 1, when it was launched back in the late 80's early 90's it created quite a stir among the hifi enthusiasts in the UK..there are some available in the second hand market any one got experience using them, interested to know..

And that's the only famous model from AE. tongue.gif
The rest are all in the not-so-famous category.
Where are they being made now? The so called far-east?? hmm.gif

Actually the timber housing for the AE1 is specially made in Malaysia info from ae web site. Lots of AV products and speakers are made in Malaysia..sometime wonders if anything happens to drop off from the lorry and find their way in to the local grey market..Yamaha in Tanjong Malim ? Mission in Sg. Petani ? Exposure in Selangor ? Onkyo in Kulim ? ...

Actually the ProAc can sound extremely nice even with the low power amp but the problem with low power amp is that you wont get the lower end from the speaker...it can sound very nice with vocal but it will lose a lot of details n punch when it comes to more complicated pieces...it really depends on the kind of music that you going for....if you r going for smooth fluid vocals then by all means u can use an Audio Note or even any 300B tube amp and you can still achieve the sound that you need but if you intend to push the speaker to its limit then u really need a very powerful amp with good Control....
