Hi all,

Does anyone know any clinic (klang valley) that offer low cost for this treatment? instead of government clinic. Have searched through google the range is RM400 - rm1k.

Any recommended clinic?

Thanks

Yes.

But I think you'll still be charged the full amount when you are abroad...

So why not just finish the treatment in Malaysia?

2. too bad until might as well just extract

Believe it or not... root canal treatment in India, specifically in MS Ramaiah Memorial Hospital Bangalore,
Cost Rs1500, equivalent to Rm80.... My wife just had it done this morning here in Bangalore...

Dentists are overcharging in Malaysia...

I think it will be cheaper to go to India to do a whole bunch of dental treatment at one go than doing them in malaysia

haha, really? if you know any Indian dental forums do pay a visit. and if you're from the dental line then you'll know how many useless dentists they have there. most of the bad apples are privately funded. they know nothing about dentistry, and just pass because of ahem ahem.

the cheap treatments you're getting there, probably are from dentists/graduates who has never done any RCT in their life. if you're want to pay a cheap fee to be a lab mice, go ahead.

however, there are also many good ones there. so you'll have to check if they're from a private, or government university (see their stamp). and judge from the age. stay away from the young ones.

i believe an experienced dentist there will not charge just as cheap. because you'll also be paying for treatment which you don't need. especially to the most clueless patients, they'll talk them into a treatment and they'll just accept those treatments. what more if your dentist is from the malayalee tribe.

lol how do i know all these? whistling.gif

Edge85 - you like to underestimate Indian Dentists now do you? Have you stayed in India to experience Indian private Dental service yourself?

Though I'm not doing dentistry, I have been staying in India for almost 5 years to know that Indian private dental treatment are Waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay cheaper with on-par technology than the overcharing-Malaysian-Private-Dentists~

Not only private dental treatment - but private medical/surgical treatment are also waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay cheaper than Malaysia.

The institution I mentioned in my posts above (MS Ramaiah Memorial Hospital) is infact - the THIRD BEST private hospital in all of Bangalore, and the one that did root canal on my wife is an assistant professor in MS Ramaiah Dental College with a Masters in Dental Surgery (MDS).

Here are the list of the Dentists/Dental professors available there:

http://www.msrmh.com/fd.php?docid=53

http://www.msrdc.ac.in/

In Malaysia, I would have been charged RM80-100 just for tooth filling, here in India I'm charged only Rs350-500 which is equivalent to RM20-30 for the EXACT same treatment.

I take another example, laparoscopic cholecystectomy (gall bladder removal) done in private hospitals in Malaysia would have easily have cost at least RM5000, here in India it cost only Rs35,000 which is equivalent to RM2000~

I am aware that there are unscrupulous Dentists that will try to cheat patients with dental treatments that they don't really need - guess what? Its not only happening in India, some Malaysian private dentists does the same too~

Please don't butt-hurt if I'm telling/promoting to other Malaysians that they can get the same high quality if not better private Dental/Medical/Surgical treatments in India compared to Malaysia, because it is A FACT and THE TRUTH~

This information will definitely be useful to the average Malaysians wanting high quality and cheap private treatments that the private Malaysian dental services couldn't care less to provide~

Here are the references for you on the charges for Dental treatments in Bangalore:

Again with the belittling? Do you have an MDS?

Don't butt-hurt when its a fact that dental treatment is cheaper in India and it is a good deal to go there for a bunch of dental treatments at once.

I guess my promoting India as for medical (or dental) tourism isn't helping your future private practice eh Edge85? laugh.gif

Any person with common-sense will question RM450 vs RM80 for root canal treatment~

no I don't have an MDS. in fact I do plan to go there, or Sri Lanka for my MDS. I have high regard for their senior dental team, but not the ones of my generation.

let's put quality of treatment aside. maybe they'll have excellent ones, maybe they have poor ones. bad apples are everywhere, and so happens the ones i come across turns out to be bad.

have you dealt with any suppliers in Malaysia? unlike India who produces some of their own dental chairs, here we either have to buy sub standard ones from China/Taiwan/Korea, or buy expensive ones from Europe.

and minimum price of treatment are set by the MDC. so yeah, rant to them about pricing if you want. RCT for a bukan warganegara in government is at RM60 per canal (for molars, that would be RM180).

Then again, you are comparing private (India) vs government (Malaysia) when I was actually talking about private (India) vs private (Malaysia)...~

If MDC wants to set minimum price for dental treatments instead of maximum allowed price, they are digging their own graves and patients will tend to go for cheaper alternatives~

The main focus of my discussion here is that I'm providing Malaysians some info that there are cheaper alternatives for the costly-Malaysian private dental treatments abroad - specifically India~

This info is for them to consider~ wink.gif

This Mahsa college has a dental clinic in Wilayah Complex, Campbell Road, or
what you call Jln Dang Wangi now.

The clinic was closed when I happened to be there at lunchtime, but the guard at
the reception told me that it was staffed by students under supervision by a dentist,
and charged just $10 for simple procedures like filling or extraction.

Not sure how much for scaling or root canal.

I was quoted for 950 for root canal (molar tooth).
If 600 should be reasonable.

Government root canal treatment - RM5 per visit/treatment. An average of 3 visits the total amount is RM15.

For those who complain or cannot afford high fees of private dental root canal treatment.

my root canal was rm950. crowning will be another rm900-rm1k+.

i think that's the norm charges here in sel/kl area.

but since the procedures are time-consuming (root canal approx. 4-5hrs and crowning 2 separate visits for moulding & fitting) and require a lot of skills, i think it's it fair.

I would recommend Dr Ng Wan Fook liao.
He is the best dentist I'd experienced so far plus his military background I am impressed.

His clinic is in PJ is exactly at opposite Kelana Jaya Station.
