Its not the DNS. Its the throttling of video download.

It means they have given you a 512 port. You should have at least a 1024 port for the 1Mb package. Not sure how you were getting 80KB. Maybe it was initially a 1024 port and they replaced it? They have to fix this at the exchange.

The 80KB is the initial set up which correct port given.

Thats mean if the technician come to  my house also no use lor?
Can i just call them and say they given a wrong port to me?
Because it'll take more time if waiting the technician come and do the report.
*
Call and ask them to check what is the port you have. If 1024 then maybe your Streamyx account is capped wrongly at 512. If the port is 512 then ask them how you can get 1024 as you subscribed to if the port is only 512?

Again, I wish the forum admins can set up a similar test so that we can all test from different locations, IPs, packages and times.

TM capped back my internet speed to 1mps from 1.5mps. The download speed dropped from 150 to 80. Call technician and he said can't do anything.
But he ask me to wait because HSBB going to have in Klang.

I mentioned this in another thread. This is what I was told, that once in a while, probably during auditing or upgrading, the user accounts will be reset back to their are subscribed packages.

It seems to me that there is problem within the TM network, either congestion or bad routing. This seems to have happened 2-3 days ago and I wonder if it is after they started doing their network maintenance .

Some connections to US especially west coast is very slow. Direct download gives 5-10KB/s. Some other US locations seems to be nornal.

The IP 58.27.106.210 is in TM local network. It is one of the hops before going on the international links. Can someone check and confirm this?

At this time for me, ping 58.27.106.210 gives around 250ms. This is 5 times higher than what it should be for a local hop and is slowing down the connection.

Spoke to a couple of people in TM that I know personally, you can expect interruptions now and then until end of March, maybe extending to April in some areas.

Can't go into the details of it now, apparently it's sort of confidential, but from what I know, people at Menara TM are working overtime everyday (without OT pay) go get things done a.s.a.p. So some tolerance required 'til then.
*
There should be nothing confidential about this. If there are problems etc, the users should be notified properly with sufficient info. We are paying for a service. You cannot just take our money and then keep quiet about problems or maintenance etc and not be responsible to the users. This only shows that they do not care much for their users.

Most users had problems almost all of 2009 either due to international links down or their maintenance of upgrading to NGN. I think a better part of last year was mostly slow connection problems. Now early this year they have already started saying maintenance and some users are again having slow connections. And on top of that who knows what and how they are throttling speeds etc.

Telekom Malaysia Berhad ™ wishes to announce that there has been a disruption of its Internet services due to circuit faults on the Asian American Gateway (AAG) submarine cable network at Lantau in China and at the domestic international link at Genting Sempah, Pahang, linking Malaysia to the United States (US) and Hong Kong.
*
I thought the AAG link was at Mersing? Anyone know how Genting Sempah, Mersing and the AAG link is connected?

so is there a solution to it? i mean, on the surface, it seems pretty unfair?

You can try to complain and request your port and account be capped at a higher speed of.

huh!? hmm.gif
can really do that?
i really think tm will just ignore that request just as they ignored all the complaints...

There is no harm trying. If you are lucky you will get it. Just like some RM88 users tried and got their price reduced to RM71 due to the Super Upgrade offers.

afaik they just stated best effort basis.. i don't think they will dare to set a minimum % of speed guaranteed to users..
*
They used to say 70% some time back. Now they mostly say 80%. I think it was mentioned by someone on this forum that MCMC says 90%.

Anyway, see the TM FAQ as below.

QUOTE
5. What is "best effort"?
"Best effort" describes a service that is provided without any service level assurance. Streamyx subscribers should receive at least 80% of the subscribed speed within TM domain & subject to certain factors (Please refer to FAQ No. 36). If the speed falls below 80%, TM will investigate it as a fault and restore the connection accordingly. Subscribers who need a 1:1 service and exclusive access to their bandwidth should go for Internet via leased line.
I have said before about the meaning of "unlimited" mentioned by TM and how I have not seen any reference to it being about data transfer. I asked at least a couple of times whether anyone has seen reference to unlimited data transfer. Finally, now I see this question which I don't think I've seen before. Looks like it can be open to TM to cap data transfer if they want. Maybe HSBB new packages will have it stated from the start.

QUOTE
41. Why TM is offering unlimited packages & at the same time limits the amount of traffic?
Unlimited means that there is no time capping for user to access to the Internet and it does not mean that user can download/upload an unlimited volume of data.

But it didn't stated how many GB we can download/upload..how can I know that?  rclxub.gif

No it didn't state that. But it states it is not unlimited like most people assume. It gives them the right to cap at some figure if they want to. They are making clear what unlimited means. I think this is a new description they have put in as I haven't seen it before. Has anyone?
