is the car rate still so cheap?
i heard jpj is catching those without license or permit~ so the rental increase.

When JPJ stops you and check, say you borrowed from a friend. Remember the hirer's name and ALWAYS, remember your car registration no. At times, they are caught because they don't even know the no.plates of the car they are driving.

The JPJ officers tend to intimidate you. Don't get scared because it is not an offense and there is no receipt issued, so they cannot prove that the car is rented unless you say so.

just came back from langkawi,
just for those who is going there soon,
cable car is closing on 19 - 20th for preventive maintenance..
other than that, i wonder should we include that the cable car will be opened from 12pm till 6pm only on Wednesday?

for car rental, i got a persona (A) for RM160.
I guess this is expensive as i went there from 12th morning (1st flight) till 14th evening, they said they count 24hrs as 1 days so mine is 2 and a half day. cant bargain much more as what's shown in the 1st page.
not sure is it because mine is first flight so they don't afraid, cause they will be more tourists arriving afterward. But the car is ok, without problem, & air cond is cold as well. will update more info here soon.

as for me,i rent a saga and it cost me rm 250 for 4 days..(12pm 3jan-2pm 6jan)
it's a 1st come 1st serve basis,
for once i got a better deal,200 for 4 days but i decided to walk around and ask other people for better deal.
then i saw the car from the 1st man been driven away by other tourist... vmad.gif
i think i rent a car without a permit one, because when i fill in the form, they told me that if i been caught in a road block by the police or the jpj, they told me to told them that i borrow the car from my friend and never show the police the receipt that they gave to you.
and all the car with permit were expensive whoooo...
i ask a kancil how much, they qoute me 90 per day...crazyyyy....it is not on a peek season..

Hi there...

My friends and I are from PJ, plan a budget trip to langkawi after CNY holidays. maybe around 17 - 20 Feb 2010. We would like to stay in chalets ( with connecting room) in front of beach and very convinient to foods and a little shoping. Can anybody guide / suggest us since none of us never went to langkawi before regarding:

1- Bus fares from KL - Kuala Kedah? What bus company offer the route?

2- Ferry fare from kuala kedah - langkawi?

3- Which chalet is the best which have a beach front view and has connecting room?

TQ

If I'm taking AA flight, can I hand carry 1bottle of liquor along when I'm back after two days stay in Langkawi? Or the liquor must be check-in instead of hand carry? Anyone who just back from Langkawi can help me by providing me some info? Thanks alot.

instead i stayed at langkasuka just last week..
I booked a king deluxe but get a king size bed with another single bed (FOC, cause that is the only room available for me to check in early)
the room is ok, very spacious.
my only complaint is that the hot water is not hot enough for me,
and the air cond is not cold at all..(even after I on it over night)
the bathtub little bit dirty with little bit stain but I clean it with tissue papper..
overall langkasuka is ok for me with nice price as well.

one more thing to mention is that langkasuka swimming pool is not as "green" as shown in the photo!
and not like full of algae.. it's ok de when see on the spot..
just to clarify for those who might misunderstand (like me) tongue.gif

u can hand carry the liquor along.
or else u need to pack your liquor nicely with super anti-shock resistant >.<
my gal put chocolate in the luggage and checked in and all the chocolate box are broken and some chocolate with liquor are leaking..maybe it's because she din cover them with clothes..
I guess they are really rude when dealing with checked in luggage..
maybe u can try cover the bottle with lot of clothes..

Hi all,

I'm heading to Langkawi 12-15 March (3 nights).

Has anyone stayed at Sunset Beach Resort (Pantai Tengah)? It seems like a very cosy place, but the only room available during that period is Sunset III for RM190/night.

What do you guys think?

Thanks!

Nice theme resort. A lot of European stay there. I would say good choice.

Putraskyline,

Thanks. I just went ahead and confirmed my booking a few minutes ago, and your comment surely made me feel like I made a good (value for money) choice.

:-)
