sharp twin famicom an-505bk, one of my fav. It has the cart, fds and built-in turbo stick function as well. Congratz !

the problem with fds is that the rubber band will need to be replaced within few years. Yours still working ?

Latest finding for this week smile.gif

However my famiclone gave way just now, not able to test the famicom carts sad.gif. Anyone know where I can get a famiclone like Micro Genius ? Don't want those NES on a chip famiclones.

*
Which Micro Genius u looking for ? any particular series ?

What is NES on a chip famiclones btw ?

Famiclone kaput before any chance to test the game sad.gif
Any cheap Micro Genius will do smile.gif The grey one tends to bring back memories.

NES on a chip is basically a NES in a chip smile.gif If you buy the current crop of famiclones in the market (Poly station, etc) and open it up, you will find a black glob in the middle of the PCB board handles all the NES functions. Compared this to a Micro Genius or a original NES or famicom, there are numerous IC inside the machine.

Micro Genius basically reverse engineered a famicom and uses the same/ similar IC smile.gif

You can see the difference between the colour generated by those NES on a chip which is much inferior.

O I see, that's the same with most of the pirate carts also rite ?

anyway here's my micro genius

i've got this crazy urge to buy a ps2 and get some ori ps2 games for collection

is it possible to get a ps2 slim and mod it to read ntsc-US games?

**skip the entire PS2 generation, was into PC gaming back then, regret now**
*
Wow, why suddenly that kind of urge ? anyway lots of PS2 games u can get for cheap now.

If your ps2 slim ntsc-jap/ pal u can always mod it to read ntsc-us games. In fact most of them here already modded rite ?

At certain time when I was into PC gaming, I had the same regret with PS1. Luckily I started to collect when PS2 came thumbup.gif

should i spend money to get a vga box to connect the ps2 to a lcd moniter?

is it THE most effective manner?
*
In what sense is it 'effective' ? if you're talking to get the best quality picture from PS2 with a LCD monitor, than VGA box is one of the solution. For the best product, you can refer to Gundamalpha for his advice on this.

But if u concern about your budget, you can still connect your PS2 with component cable to your LCD. Some games can support progressive scan (like Tekken 5, GOW, etc.)

The peak days of PC gaming. How I miss them. Between Origin Systems, Lucasarts and Sierra, these guys were cranking out classic after classic game. And id sofware, Bullfrog, Apogee had great games too. EA was cool too, back when they were still Electronic Arts. I loved the hell out of Space Hulk, probably the only guy to play it in my whole school. Did anyone else enjoy Road Rash back in the early 90s?
*
Nice list of video game makers u have there ...

-Origin Systems is very much famous of the most demanding games for any PC system back then .... Wing Commander, Strike Commander on like 30-40 installation disks (3.5 floppies) ? and for the speech add another extra 10 disks ? Just plain crazy ... sweat.gif

-Sierra is more of the adventure series game maker. Their tittles like mother goose, King's-Police-Space-quest series are famous, Quest for Glory is more RPG tinted, gabriel knight ? one of the most engaging story. They also have a great simulation like Aces of the pacific smile.gif

-Lucas arts sure have a lot of adventure series like monkey island, sam & max, full throtle and also all kind of star wars games (not so surprising huh)

-ID is FPS game creator like Wolfenstein 3d (actually not really 3d yet), DOOM series (now this is 3d) and Quake series.

-Bulfrog is famous for simulation games like theme park, theme hospital and strategy games like populous and syndicate.

-Apogee's got Comander keen, Rise of the triad (blood and gore everywhere) and the cool duke nukem of course cool2.gif

-EA is of course one the ultimate sport franchise games maker in the recent time, they're of course one of the biggest game producer ever (since they acquire most games companies hahaha)

U're still missing these great companies wink.gif

-Accolade. Anyone plays test drive series before ? it's quite revolutionary at that time. And also Star Control 2 is also one of the best sci-fi game ever ... icon_rolleyes.gif

-Also there's Broderbund which has a catalog of great games like karateka, lode runner, Stunts ! (great driving simulation, which u can build ur own impossible looking tracks), Prince of Persia, Myst ...

-There's also one of the greatest simulation and strategy game maker all time which is Microprose. They have all kind of flight simulation games, one of my favourite is Gunship 2000. Also the Sid Meier games like Sword of the Samurai, Civilization, colonization, rail road tycoon, pirates, etc. Even games like Master of Magic, Master of Orion and XCOM are simpy the best ... thumbup.gif

-Last one that I almost forget is Westwood studios. The great games like Dune, Dune 2 (the foundation of Command & Conquer), legend of kyrandia (hilarious laugh.gif ) , lands of lore (great rpg game) and of course the famous Command & Conquer series. It is however ends up like Accolade, Bullfrog and Origins Systems which are all bought by EA of course shakehead.gif

O gosh, how I love the old days of PC games ... sure miss it a lot nod.gif
