Happy 20th B'day SFC bday.gif

20 years and my SFC + SNES x2 still alive and kicking, unlike anything that comes out after that except the Saturn dry.gif

Happy birthday to my old SFC thumbup.gif

SFC is definitely one of the most durable console (especially since it's using cart).

I would put Saturn as the most durable optic based console. Too bad DC is a step backward on this tongue.gif

WTF an eBay seller accepted my ridiculous offers for these 2 games:

1. SS Dragon Force 2 $10 (normally $20~$30)
2. SS Linda 3 $20 (normally $80~$120)

Great deals I must say but at the wrong time cry.gif

Yup, only 50/60Hz CRT can use, monitor also can nod.gif

Too bad we cannot lower the refresh rate of LCD, or can we ?

Lower also no use, can't detect.
*
So it has to be a CRT and refresh rate between 50/60hz only right ?

Move to CRT monitor better. You won't be using anything else for DC after that
*
No wonder they still manifacture CRT ... but this one is a bit expensive for 14 inch, around $200 shocking.gif

Sharing is caring smile.gif

By the way, I just got in my hand a Micro Genius and Sega Game Gear but without power adapter and was wondering any sifu here have some advice.

On the Micro Genius it is written the input to be 10V 850mA, but I am using a Mega Drive power adapter (10V, 1.2A) which works but afraid if I use it for longer stretches it will burn the machine. cry.gif  Any one has any experience in power consumption of  electronics?

As for the game gear, I don't have 6 AA to spare to test the machine. The machine state it uses a 9V 3W adapter, anyone has a spare or tested using a similar adapter for the game gear ?

Many thanks in advance.
*
Hi bro, if not mistaken all can use the same adapter as Mega Drive 2. As long as the polarity (+ center -), DC output, voltage more or less the same and the ampere actually doesn't really matter that much (within range 850mA-1200mA) so should be fine.

For Game Gear u can try Mega Drive 1, as the voltage is more closer to 9V (pls check whether all the above condiiton are met). But I can confirm that JAP region game gear has worked before with MD2 power adapter (even rated at 10V) biggrin.gif

Note that for other region, may require different plug size otherwise it will not fit in (eg. US game gear cannot plug with MD2 power adapter as the tip will not fit, this could be due to different requirement of polarity).

And one more thing... try at ur own risk icon_rolleyes.gif

In Ipoh flea market. Comes with Sonic 2 cart smile.gif. But I am not sure how to distinguish between ori and fake game gear carts, still a newbie in game gear, any game gear collectors here ? Haven't seen wonderswan as it was not very popular here. I did saw FF collection last time in Jusco Cheras long long long time ago.
ooooo, that's scary smile.gif. Need to find 6AA now ... heard those game gears suck battery real fast .... .

For me both my MD1 and MD2 uses the same adapter (10V). Didn't know MD1 uses 9V adapter. For the Micro Genius, it state 850mA is the MAX, which is cause of my worry, just open it to test a game or two to verify the Micro Genius is alive !!!
*
How to differentiate the ori and fake game gear carts is quite simple.

First just see on the label, the difference is quite obvious as the non-ori normally don't have a logo of developer (like SEGA, etc.) and usually comes in multi-in-one games.

Also u can check the back of the cart, for original there's a special screw which is not common.

U can only open it with a special tool like gamebit if not mistaken. The fake one only use a normal star screw, which u can open easily or sometimes no screw at all.

Yes, if you're not sure better don't try hahaha ... later u may fried yours tongue.gif

Using battery, it does really suck the juice out of it quite fast. I think your 6 AA can only last around 3-4 hours of continuous play, u've been warned as well biggrin.gif

Maybe it's a better idea using a rechargable battery, but normally they only charge 4 batteries at once. This is why Gameboy has an advantage in this area laugh.gif

Yes MD1 uses 9V adapter, I've tried to use a MD2 10V adapter before on MD1 console and also worked. But there's a bit of high pitch noise noticeable on the speaker.

So I won't really recommend to use on long term if the voltage is different (although a bit like 1V different may not really harmful).

I think for the ampere it won't really make a different as long between 850mA - 1200mA.

why get one those multi plug adapters ? the ones where you can adjust the voltage from 9v etc then alot of plug heads one ?
*
As long the polarity is adjusted correctly it shouldn't be a problem.
