Always wanted a Derby Stallion Saturn. The semi clear black one. But nowadays who knows how to mod a saturn?

Derby Stallion Saturn is the transparent blue version.

If the transparent black (or smoke colour as the Japanese call it), it's the "this is cool" saturn.

both are still costly to buy even as used consoles, i regularly see it going for USD100 ++ on ebay.

Why mod when you can play imports with AR cart readily available from play-asia? icon_rolleyes.gif

Don't you think running the CD on PC Emulator gives better result over the original? I mean faster loading time, better graphic tweaks, easier to save files. You can still hook it onto the TV the only difference is you won't be using Saturn gamepads but can also grab a converter.

Never liked emulation, just my personal preference to play games the way it was supposed to be. Graphics wise i'm using RGB so emulation lose in most cases

Managed to find a US Gamecube (machine only). Now I am able to play the game I always wanted to play (that is I find the time to play it smile.gif ) ... Zelda Majora mask (from the special collectors zelda disc) ~ ahem version sweat.gif

Damn hard to find the collectors disc for GC or to hunt down the original n64 cart with 4 MB gamepack (RAM booster). Don't flame me as I ahem only the disc which was not sold in the market to begin with tongue.gif

Using AR to boot GCOS over a gecko SD extension. This trick only works on US gamecube apparently.

On another note, I was checking some of my GC disc and found some with crack top layer of the disc (crack on the label). Still can boot and play but damn sakit hati cry.gif .Anyone encounter this and how to prevent more disc suffering the same fate. My games are stored in the original cover in a cupboard with no direct sunlight.

sacrilege!

saturn games are meant to play on saturn on TVs!

nothing beats playing it like it was intended to be.

loading times are for grabbing a quick drink or go to toilet....

saves are on the internal memory, with occasional backups using the backup memory cartridge when the cr2032 battery dies (this happened a lotto me....)

Regarding emulation, i don't know much about saturn emulator but with PSX emulator i was able to boost the resolution on the PC, comparing PS3 emulation on PSOne games vs PC emulation on the same game, PS3 emulation just look like the pixellette PSOne while PC made everthing looks much smoother.

Of course for original feel playing it on the original console is the best, but can't deny the power of PC emulation utilizing modern hardware.

Finished Amakusa's story rclxm9.gif

The game is a little too easy, so I'll start with Genjiro on Mizuki's chapter as he'll only have 1 companion throughout the game instead of 3 if you choose other characters flex.gif

My NGC MGS:Twin Snakes also got crack on the top layer printing, bought the game 2nd hand, at this moment only this particular game has crack on top.

================================================================================

For the emulation part, i don't mind playing old games on PC Emulator as long as it truly upscaled the graphics and it looks good on modern lcd monitor, one good example is the pcsx emulator for ps2 games, look at this Shadow of the Colossus running on PC , the original game on the ps2 was great but the frame rate was terrible, this emulator not only improved the graphics but also able to run the game at super smooth FPS compare to the original, i doubt the PS3 HD release are able to achieve this kinda quality.

Shadow of the Colossus rendered @ 2560 x 1792 and cpatured in 1080p HD.

I wonder how mature is ps2 emulation today. I though to emulate PS2 require very powerful hardware.

Thank you, thank you,....

That GBC was snapped up quickly, even now people still ask me if it is still available....

BTW shop is just a way to get rid of excess things and also impulse buys....

space constraints in the house....

wow, we share same birthdate? no wonder we both like old skool games....

Hmmm, so far none of my games have cracked or peeled labels. but then again i missed out on Gamecube....

or is this situation unique to GC discs as they are proprietory mini dvds?

or becase it's made in a US factory?

I also have the same problem with my MGS TS, the coating on the surface of the disc is cracking very bad but then again, it was originally pre-owned.

I will have to check my PN03 later tonight though I'm sure REmake doesn't display such problem as I finished playing it recently. I think it depends on the type of "coating" on the surface as REmake one is slightly different from PN3/TS.

^

well I just got the Wii edition a while back so I played the GC version as well to do a comparisons with the Wii. hehe

the Wii edition does not "sound" better to me (apparently GC has compressed audio) and the stretched "widescreen" image on GC looks better on LCD compared with Wii edition's preserved 4:3.

this coating problem is certainly very intriguing though, i'll have to look at my other GC games now tonight.

My PN03 seems to be the worst of the lot. Wario world is starting to crack a bit, RE remake is showing some signs as well ... sweat.gif

On another note, currently playing Zelda Majora Mask on GC ( Zelda collection disc) and giving the GC another lease of life. Anyone has a spare component cable to sell for GC ?

Surprisingly GC seems to scale much better that expected on 16:9 using composite cables. smile.gif. Previously was using my GC with a 4:3 Wega TV. Haven't touch GC for almost a couple of years now.
