Oh, if anyone needs me to get something, I can go to Akihabara again on Tueday, but that's also my last day in Japan. Please respond before Tuesday. Thanks.

On a personal level, I bought a lot of stuff back, but not game related. The Akihabara trip is not very fruitful, hard to find unique items. On one hand, I discovered new shops I didn't even go to last time. On the other hand, all that effort didn't bring any result.

It's the shop yang jual the loose Gameboy Light and the Virtual Boy. Nama kedai レトロげーむキャンプ (retro game camp). Along Chuo Street, x jauh from ドン キホ-テ (Don Quixote). フレンズ (Friends) tutup for some reason today, baru nak tengok.

Already back in Malaysia now. Very aggressive traveling over there, since I brought people first time to Japan. The first time is special to most people, so kena layan them before my own stuff.

u can read and write japanese?

Only hiragana and katakana, but not kanji, which are chinese characters. I am still learning kanji anytime I see a new character though. I can also speak and understand Japanese, but not good. Maybe just 4 out of 10. Still enough to get by la.

Ok, here's the Akihabara electric town map. Some parts a bit blur for some reason, can't get it to scan right. But you should still have a good idea of the overall map.

Ok, I uploaded a better looking map, plus the map index. You can see that the map has numbers on it. Refer to the index for the shop index number. I mostly go to Trader and Super Potato for retro stuff, and Yodobashi Camera for new stuff. Although be aware, Yodobashi is actually more expensive than most other places. But I like the staff at Yodobashi, they make me feel very welcome there, even when I pretend not to know Japanese lol.

No time to check out Gachapon. There are too many vending machines to check out. Yodobashi itself has a section dedicated to Gachapon.

Yaaaaaay my Saturn can read discs again! It stopped reading game discs entirely since 2011, and I bought another one for replacement. Today I decided to try the laser pot adjustment, and it worked! But I still need to be prepared for the day it will die completely... sad.gif

Also, I am now playing Virtual On the way it's meant to be played, with the Twin Stick. I smile silly when playing that game, as it reminds me of an era gone by. Thanks SEGA for the memories smile.gif

Sounds handy. I have 2 Japanese Saturns, one with region switch, and one without. But since I just play the Saturn mostly for Japanese games, I rarely switch regions though.

Very interesting. Amazingly, I already have like, 3 x 3rd party 1MB/4MB cartridges, and 2 x official Capcom 4MB cartridge, which I never opened. Those came with X-men VS Street Fighter, and Vampire Saviour. And I only have one backup cartridge. Even then, I don't use it much, since my Saturn is mostly used to play arcade titles. God, I miss 90's era Capcom...

Well, the era for fighting games is more or less over. Although we now have modern games like Street Fighter IV, Blazblue, Mortal Kombat etc, the fighting game craze is now long gone. Personally for me the interest died down with the death of arcades.

For better or worse, home systems now have better than arcade-quality video and sound. Compared to the 16-bit and 32-bit era, we played on home systems because we wanted a slice of the arcade experience without leaving home. Now, we have online play, so there is no further need to play in the arcades to look for challenge. Yes, EVO and similiar tournaments keep the FGC alive, but what about the arcades themselves?

I still fire up emulators to relive the glory arcade days. Oh how I miss those days. And I'm still trying to complete my Capcom CPS2 games collection haha. On Saturn. And CPS3 collection on Dreamcast.

Any Hard Off Osaka. Its a retro mecca. ;-) And this time, help pick up the PSX for me. Its a beast in size.
*
I just tried to Google Any Hard Off Osaka, Hard Off Osaka and Any Hard Osaka. I think you were referring to Hard Off? It's supposedly a chain of used goods store nationwide. Never came across it before though. Uhh you're looking for a Sony PSX? Like, the PSX with DVR and PS2 together? Not the PSX people keep calling the PS1?

I can't say I've seen a PSX while in Tokyo. Do you know the expected price?

Last checked, at Hard Off, its about USD100 or lower.

Pricing on secondhand electronic goods at Hard Off is lower than most electronic store IMHO.

Did you manage to find one at a Hard Off? Do you know which particular branch? I can take a look, but no guarantee finding it.

I am still looking for the char aznable 3ds. appreciate it if you can find it for me when you go to Osaka....

This one is something like a holy grail at this point. Gundam branding + the most popular handheld system. I'll try looking, but no guarantee again.

Give or take, it's about a month until I leave for Osaka. Anyone need me to look for stuff, let me know.
