Thanks guys No la, the phone made it possible. I love to push mobile phone imaging to the limit but that needs good hardware to be made possible and X10 is just the tool for it to be made possible. Actually I even find X10 details better than N8 (cam phone king?) during night shots with less noise summore. That's bloody fantastic I would say, will post comparison photos here once I have the time.

2 general things to have good quality photos with X10, 1) have a steady hand during low light situations 2) wipe your lens every single time you whip the phone out to shoot something. Other smaller stuff comes with experience and experimenting like setting appropriate EV, using the proper white balance for different environments and setting the scenes for situations (eg, use beach and snow scene for low light photos to reduce noise if your hands are not steady enough to use night scene) etc which you'll come to know when you've spend enough time with the cam

Thanks. Just be aware that the flash on this phone is really crappy, only suitable for macro shots in low light. But aside from clubbing/partying in low light photos it takes great evening shots and even better daylight images

If I were you I'd back up my data and start on the tedious journey of re-flashing the phone and setting everything up again as I strongly feel this is a corrupted firmware issue as no one I know has reported such problem. Good luck bro

It's pretty late at Q2, but since it's impossible to have gingerbread on X10 due to RAM limitation, I say better late than never
