Is there any android version upgrade ?
*
Update to Android 2.1 (Eclair) coming up anytime now (Q3 2010) which will unleash its underclocked specs due to the limitations of Android 1.6. Some improvements ----> 1. HD video recording 2. 16million colour screen (imagine the clarity since it is clear as crystal as it is) 3. Full utilisation of 1gHz processor (the phone will be much faster than what it is) 4. Full utilisation of 384mb RAM (better multitasking) 5. Other disabled features will be unlocked such as Flash support and Bluetooth tethering for internet access through PC, TV/Out and so on. It will be AWESOME. Some might say why not upgrade to 2.2 (Froyo) but this is just a minor upgrade, maybe SE is aiming for a more significant version nod.gif

Android 1.6 still haven fully utilise of 1GHz ?
*
Nope, that's one of the reasons why SE won't implement HD video recording just yet (aside from killing Vivaz market) and why it seems a bit slow using Timescape and Mediascape. It should be just as fast as the rest of the current android 2.x devices after the upgrade this month smile.gif Hopefefuly the battery life will also improve.

Check the date on your device, some apps have problems with dates before or after its life cycle. If it's ok then try factory reset and if that doesn't work use SEUS to reinstall your firmware. If that still doesn't work, maybe you should get settings from your network provider or contact them as this is not normal.

@cicadasx
Yes, HD recording, 16m colours, lightning speed, more effective
RAM and processor
utilisation, better battery life and the list goes on

Well, AFAIK South East Asia area has R2BA020 as the latest, but in other regions ie. Europe they get R2BA026 which apparently get the faster Timescape and Mediascape response. Wonder why that kind of support is not given here cry.gif

Got my x10...Midland set 2 weeks ago. Everything works fine, except I could not utilise the applications (Facebook, all the Google and Moxier app, Market). All I get is the following message:

Can't establish a reliable data connection to the server. This could be a temporary problem or your Sim card may not be provisioned for data services.

But I have no problems when logging in to facebook using the browser. I'm using Digi prepaid btw. When i tried to download the free getjar apps from Digi website through the phone, it does not download at all. No progress. All I see is 'Downloading' and then 'Waiting for data connection'...back and forth. Why is it waiting for a data connection when i'm downloading it from a site. All these obstacles/problems seem to point to data connection. But why am I able to surf the net using the browser?

2 days ago I've update the phone to R2BA020, problems still persists. Today I 'attempted' to restore phone to factory settings. But when i checked...it still shows my build number as R2BA020 instead of the one I had when I first bought it. Plus from a batt life of 90%, it dropped to 3% after the reset. Was the reset succesfully done?

Heck, i'm begining to feel frustrated with this phone.
*
Digi is the problem, I know a few people with the same problem with X10 using Digi. I've never had this problem on Maxis. Alternatively though, can you connect if you use wifi? Btw R2BA020 is the latest for our region and once you've updated, resetting won't downgrade the firmware version which is the best at the moment so no concerns there. Your reset should be successful if your data and customized settings aren't there anymore wink.gif

Tested and it work like a charm on X10

It says in the instruction that we store in the storage card.

Copy NaviSEA folder, paste it inside your storage card, root directory

Is that supported for 1.6?

may I know how's the performance of X10's camera? Anyone can describe the performance position, ie between what phone to what phone. Thanks.

Better than C905 overall but photolight is absolute crap, poor flash implementation for such an excellent cam module doh.gif You can see some of my samples in the Android Camera gallery thread or the Camera Gallery thread as well

Go to 'settings'---->'wireless controls'---->'mobile networks'----> then uncheck the 'MMS & Data' to turn connection off. But why get a high end android with no data plan? It's like owning a BMW but never switch on aircond to save petrol doh.gif

Apparently trusted sources in Europe have confirmed that SE won't be developing X10 for FroYo 2.2 meaning we're stuck with 2.1. Not sure if it's been posted before but I'm number 13,967 who signed the petition demanding FroYo to be included in the X10 android map. If you haven't performed this collective obligation, you can do so here http://www.petitiononline.com/froyo/ I've had the experience of petitioning for an update for P990 after SE announced the end of its firmware update support and in the end SE gave in and gave the users one last update, so this might just work. Let's raise enough signatures people!

Hi, i just bought my x10 few days ago
is anyone here having this problem?
the bottom part of the screen seems like screwed up. found some dark spots (no really, seems like grey cloud) displayed. getting more obvious with white background
*
Sounds like a faulty set. Very rare as i've never heard of such a problem for X10. You should get it replaced

That's right, according to the SE android map it'll be implemented in Android 2.1x which is the minor update after we get Eclair doh.gif

should i wait the release of 2.1 then only get the phone or get it now?
*
Actually eventhough we're at 1.6, SE has backported quite a number of crucial 2.x features like usb tethering, 32gb sd support, extensive bluetooth connectivity, etc. And with Eclair 2.1 X10 will have some FroYo 2.2 features and the most major would be video streaming/web gaming (using HTML5 support instead of Flash). In fact the only annoying thing for me about the delay of 2.1 is jeers from other OEMs for using the prehistoric android version but it actually functions quite flawlessly

Trust me, if they say 4th quarter it'll be 31st December, just like it would've been 30th September had they stuck with the 3rd quarter plan.

Thanks Atsutane! Aikss... it does not have T9! what a waste... To me , it is an important feature. As I can't do well with the touchscreen Qwerty.
*
LOL. Of course it has T9, and a much better T9 interface than what you're used to doh.gif

Yes there won't be any Flash support for 2.1 BUT it is still possible to stream videos and play online games if HTML5 is implemented in the SE Eclair internet browser which they are developing for 2.1. HTML5 means we don't have to install 3rd party apps like Adobe Flash to stream or for gaming because these function will be native to the browser wink.gif This is one of the features from 2.2 backported to 2.1 by SE, not in the form of flash support but HTML5 support. This is, of course if SE delivers what they promise doh.gif

No prob with maxis. IMO digi is the likely culprit. Most have such problems as well as not being able to watch m.youtube etc on other phones as well
