I have cycled in Kiara with just half-finger glove that cost me RM15 (replica Fox, still using).
Heck, I don't usually cycle with gloves cause it's hot.

My house of 12-years never got hit by lightning before.
However, if possible. I'll switch off all electronic appliances.
Just my 2 cents.
