if get polo tgi, I would have to go for 9 years loan for same range of month installment payment and top-up few thousand to meet 10% downpayment.

So, even if I sale off the car after 5 years, among these 3 cars (i10, Elantra, and Polo), Polo TGI might give me the highest money back value....

need to sell my car off to make way for possibly a crz or the new 2012 civic. but then my city still got some balance with the bank. the sales advisor i am booking either crz or civic found a car dealer for trade in purpose

we agreed on the price and now we are going to other steps. i read and research quite a lot about this and found out there are cases of which people got serious problems after trading in their cars ( got balance with bank ). one famous case is the one dealer took his bmw and default payments. it turned out the car was sold to someone else! how could a car with some balance of loan be traded without settling the balance?

so if i may, i want to know what kind of steps to be undertaken so that the trade in goes without problem? i am thinking about insisting of settlement payment statement from the bank before i hand the car to the dealer. is this possible? please advise. tq.

tq but i am looking at steps at protecting myself during the trade in process. i mean dealers not many can do full loan settlement within few months after trade in let alone weeks. many do continue payment till got buyer for the car only then they settle the balance with bank

some horror things going on, apart from the BMW story, are dealer gone cannot contact anymore and monthly payment for the car which is supposely paid by the dealer, not clear up until the last moment before REPO. then got dealer not clear the full settlement although the car no longer at the dealers place. i dont know how but continue payment could be the reason. however this continue payment thing is illegal by any means of the law but in the end the initial owner of the car suffers. bank keeps calling got loans still unclear etc etc.

i dont want got anything to do with the car or the loan anymore after i do the trade in. that means the car change ownership (which is okay, no problem with the procedure n very low risk to me) and LOAN settlement (the biggest risk) done

the used car dealer as suggested by my SA came and checked on the car already and we agreed on the price. however i am skeptical and at the same time afraid about their ability to clear my loan balance with the bank in the shortest time possible i.e weeks or 1-2 months top. he and my SA assured me they will clear my load in full before the due date of my monthly payment which is in the middle of the next month. talk is cheap and i am still at highest risk. the only way i can think of to protect myself is to insist the full receipt of the loan settlement BEFORE signing the indemnity letter and hand over the car. i did asked around and many said this is not possible. because no one wants to carry the risk of paying for something of which they not get it. but at the same time i dont want myself to be exposed to uncertainties after trade in.

the difference between my loan balance and the price agreed is going to be the down payment for the new car

Honda E - a good choice, though depends on your driving style and lifestyle choice. i wouldn't say this is the most frugal of the range but definately 1.6 class performance.
Vios G - don't waste money on TRD or G spec, the E spec will do just fine, plus when you sell later on there isn't much difference maybe rm1000-3000 only but the purchase price difference is huge.what do you mean by that?
Mazda 2 - imho i think its ugly but the sedan/hatch are the cheapest
Fiesta - again don't waste your money for the highest spec model, its all just cosmetics.[COLOR=red]i think the resale value is not that good la
Insight/prius c - gotta stretch your budget for these but definately getting the best technology for the price you're paying for.

Hyundai's Elantra is out of the budget
well, initially our rough budget was at 100k @ 7 or more year loan (For Honda Insight - environmental friendly )..then as we slowly cut and trim down, a car between 75,000-80,000 would suit us best   
we did look into proton,albeit a quick glance through - LoL If I remember correctly, the Inspira is around 85K? exceed budget already..didn't pay much attention to the 'hype' of Preve tho - around 65K right?

Remarks : Just went to the showroom around Selayang area and manage to find one unit that I am quite interested with. White in Color and comes with simple minor scratches and dents. Problems that I've managed to spot them during inspection :

1. Mirror Wind Down pedal is missing
2. Central Lock not functioning
3. Aircond gas is running out - pretty warm inside

Other than that, everything within the interior body seems to be OK. As for the engine part, got no idea much - was cleaned up earlier by the sales person and he insisted that everything is in the Original Form without any modification / accident free.

Sales person offered to fix all the problems that I mentioned earlier with inspection on the engine compartment before handling over the car to me.

He requested for at least RM1K down payment in order to improve the possibility of getting the car loan approved. Major banks will be PBB / AMBANK and HLB with the rates in between 3.5% - 4.0%

Does this deal seems to be promising ?

Though i think Preve is one of the best around my budget but I have too many protons at home. its time to change.
