Hi zenix,
Honda accord year 2006 to 2007 a good buy? Is it around 50k . Is it expensive to maintain n what to look up for when buying? Fuel consumption? Tq.
*
you're talking about THIS then its a good buy.
but i've never really seen anything in the market that would be about 50k, its still floating around 60k.
being honda its pretty reliable and fuel consumption is quite good the K20 engine is powerful enough, don't spend more for the k24.

QUOTE(kamikraze @ Nov 29 2012, 01:11 PM)
suddenly budget decrease to around 25-30k..considering the process might add up total cost for 2-3k more..
thanks for suggestion, but despite the rareness of the car..part surely be hard to get..
*
2006 Naza Citra - a good MPV for this price range, this car is pretty common on the roads so you don't need to be afraid that there isn't any spare parts or mechanics that know how to fix it. mileage is low too.

2003 SY Rexton - the good things about this one is that it has a merc diesel engine (okay i know it isn't the latest technology) but old tech is always simple and easy to repair, most merc specialist would be able to do it. secondly, it had capability to carry 7 people with the last foldable row of seats.

2004 SY Chairman - again another gem in the rough, under the hood is an older generation of merc engine, mostly no issues when you bring it to merc specialist. the good point is unlike merc of the same spec you can actually get a loan for this car, the same model merc would be almost 20 years old.

Hi, a newbie here^^

I am having a struggle between mirage and i10, guys can provide me with some advice?

Thanks much much!
*
i think the mirage is better.
5 years warranty and 3 years free maintenance sounds good too.

3) New/Used/Unreg. - Anything
4) Specs - Anything
5) Transmission - manual
6) NA preferred
7) Type - 2 seater
8) Remarks - Thought of owning a coupe car. Have look at celica, but was wondering if i could still take loan for it? If yes, how much downpayment do i usually have to fork out? And what might be the interest rate? Thanks alot!
*
Why not consider Honda CRZ?

QUOTE(ryderz @ Nov 30 2012, 09:40 AM)
1) Brand : vw
2) Budget : around RM120K
3) New/Used/Unreg. - new polo 1.2tsi or golf 1.4tsi
4) Specs - Anything
5) Transmission - auto
6) NA preferred
7) Type - hatchback
8) Remarks - considering buying a new vw polo or should i go for used vw golf. not sure about problem related to both cars, and is used golf what should look out for?
*
Polo would be just like a bigger Perodua Myvi with German technology & quality, its a B Segment car after all but then its probably the biggest of the B Segments.
Golf would be just like a Nissan Latio Hatch with German technology & quality, its a C Segment car after all but then its not the most spacious of the C Segments.

QUOTE(takashiyert @ Nov 30 2012, 09:56 AM)
helo bro .. which year of avanza 1.3a and 1.5A got less problem of gear box..????if d old one 1.5A gear box look like 1.3 one will hard to find a used  one ??

Why buy that crap Avanza?
Buy something better that can sit 7 people like Rexton/Citra, 2000cc engine is good for when you wanna go outstation.

QUOTE(phantom9955 @ Dec 1 2012, 07:56 PM)

3) New/Used/Unreg. - New

The City is the only car in that market segment which comes with stability control software (Honda VSA) other cars like Mazda 2, Vios, etc. don't have.

QUOTE(smwah @ Dec 2 2012, 04:06 PM)
Type: Sedan or mov
Brand: altis, civic or livina or sulphy (target high spec)
Budget: below 85k
Hear new car price will be slight drop next year? will it affect 2nd hand car?
*
All new Altis coming out next year most likely, you might want to wait if you want the latest look, though I personally believe Toyota will remain the same specs mechanically.
Civic just come out new model so no discounts, not a good buy at the moment.
Sylphy being Nissan won't have much discounts either and this model won't be superceeded anytime soon, a good long term investment, you'd probably see Nissan still selling this model after you finish your car loan, Livina is the same.

QUOTE(SpeechLess11 @ Dec 3 2012, 11:57 PM)

1. Brand : Myvi
2. Budget : 25k-35k

Hi, first time buying car. thinking to get a used myvi around year 07-08 which suit my budget. Normally how long i can loan for? and current interest rate for 2nd hand car is how much? and 07-08 car after 5years need lots of high maintenance like changing gear box, suspension and etc... ??????
*
Why not consider a new lower spec Myvi/Saga?

6) NA or FI : nevermind
7) Type - Any
8) Remarks - Well ... i need car for 1 year ... so car which will lose less when selling after 1 year

a cheap myvi 1.0cc with manual gearbox should be your target.

5) Transmission: Auto (paddle shifts if possible)
6) NA or FI: doesnt matter
7) Type: Sedan
8) Remarks: Has to have leather seats, not older than 2005, completely stock

2007 Honda City - just look for the lowest mileage and newest car possible, don't get an older car which is one year older but discount is only 1-2k not worth it.

Hi all, anyone got experience buying new car in year end? Is it have the best discount or should I wait for next year? Will they offer the same?
*
Usually got discounts during year end but Proton isn't like importer like VW or Mazda.
Importer usually alot higher discounts because they bring in X amount of cars a year (principle company force them to commit) if they unable to finish selling X amount within a year it will become 1 year old stock the next year, they usually clear it with big discounts before the year is over, because e.g. in 2012 you don't wanna buy a 2011 manufactured car eventhough new right?

Proton has a manufacturing plant here so they already know the trend and have already adjusted factory output so they don't face overstock issue.
Plus Proton is a high volume manufacturers here and the cars are in demand no need to really push for specific volume with big discounts.

QUOTE(ketiak_masyam @ Dec 14 2012, 02:45 PM)
skoda ok or not
*
2005 Skoda Octavia - its a bargain car for the price, they share most of their major components with their parent company VW, do check with your local VW specialist if they are able to support this car and generally how much does maintenance parts cost, if its cheap for your wallet then you got a very good car for not alot of money.

*
the most important part is going thru websites like motortrader/mudah to see cars within your budget range which you like.
then from there narrow down to the model/brand you like.
then see your neighborhood any specialist for that brand/model.
ask their recommendation for that model before purchase, ask about normal service items the price (affordability of things u need to change every few months).

Dear Zenix, Mazda 6 year 2006 selling at rm 52800, worth buy? This car got any problem, maintenance economic? tq.

that kinda price can get you camry/accord of the same generation.
which is a much better bet as a second hand car.
mazda is beautiful and powerful, yes.
though reliability is suspect.

Type-R no more new, but got unreg.

Either Japan version (Sedan) or Uk version (Hatch).
Either one also needs to use Ron97 though.
The hatch uses torsion beams for suspension though.
Japan version engine output higher.

K20 type-r very powerful already, you need more power put in the K24 parts brows.gif

My father plan to get a car to replace his very old Mercedes benz ( more than 17 years old car). His budget is around 90K however I would give him a hand for the rest. I am newbie in car however at this stage I am keeping my eye on Toyota Prius C, Honda Insight,Honda Jazz hybrid ( for low F/C car), and Ford focus, Mazda 2/ Mazda 3, Hyundai Elantra).
He mainly use the car for everyday use and average use 300km~400km per week. He got a bad habit which he doesn't like to sell off his car. So resell value wasn't a big issue.
What will you guys suggest for it? Thanks

6th gen abit too old for me.
unless you really hardcore civic lover, best to avoid and get something newer.
almost everything needs to be updated/replaced by this age.
but its the last of the generation of cars with rock solid engineering for engine and gearbox, overhauled it can last a long time.

Trying to get  an used car for a budget of ~rm40k. Choices probably are vios/city/sentra, older batch, should be 04/05/06. Heard that used city is kind of a pain compared to the other two. What about sentra? any input on this model?

My job requires me to travel to customer sites everyday, most of the driving will be on highway, I would say 70% highway and 30% city road. On average I drive about 400km a week. Once in a month or two, I will be driving down to kl from penang, roundtrip about 800km.

By the way, other than mudah, any other site that is good for used cars?

Thanks
*
2008 Proton Persona - this is my top pick because its a nice comfortable sedan, good for long journeys plus it has an NGV kit which helps you save fuel. Don't worry its bi-fuel so if you run out of NGV it auto switches to petrol, you won't get stranded in the middle of nowhere wink.gif

2011 P2 Myvi - the only merit for this car is that its almost new.

2006 Nissan Sentra - old tech, old looking but is a bigger comfortable car than saga/myvi, good for long journey. old tech is usually easier and cheaper to maintain in the long run.

2007 honda city - the fuel save king without needing to be a hybrid/ngv car, just make sure to use original CVT gearbox oil, don't use cheapo stuff and it will last a long time.

2002 BMW 325 - a good car you can still get loan for, though you need to be aware this car is going to be 10 years old soon so many perishable parts like rubber seals would need to be replaced soon.

2007 Subaru Impreza - if you okay with relatively expensive parts this is a monster of a car.

2006 Ford Focus - handsome car with good performance, though i think if you can find a TDCI around your budget then get that instead brows.gif

2004 Saab 9-3 - want powerful car thats good enough to be in the same field as VW's, BMW's. etc? get this car.....looks gentleman enough to be executive car yet powerful enough not to be bullied on the highway.

May i know in term of the FC...is there so much different between these two?? if not then i get more options to choose from.
appreciate some advice....thanks

optra is actually a very decent car quality wise.
road noise insulation is very good.
big and spacious.
some places it even has a V6 heart.
better get the 1.8, i think 1.6 is too weak.

hi zenix, why hybrid civic selling at lower price. 1.4 is it under power? any problem with battery since it is hybrid
*
battery is usually warranty for 5-7 years for hybrid, gotta check on that in the manual.
if a youngster drive it will definately feel under-powered, if aunty or uncle drive will feel powerful.
malaysian mentality hybrid cars no good that's why its priced lower, TBH you wanna buy higher price made-in-melaka or cheaper made-in-japan?
so what if after 7-9 years the battery kong still can use it as 1.5cc engine car or transplant type-r engine into it. brows.gif

take the mileage with a pinch of salt.
look at the condition of the car and also the year make.

<5 years = <100k good, >180k bad

don't worry the hybrid drive will last you quite sometime.
by the time it dies you can always swap in the 1.8 or 2.0 engines from the other civic models.

5. Transmission : Auto
6. NA or FI :  Any
7. Type : 4 seater.
8. Remarks : Have concern on the maintenance as the car year range between 2002-2003. Due to budget low should I go for Altis car year better?  cry.gif  cry.gif  cry.gif

2004 Camry - for that budget getting a Camry is abit pushing it, you really need to search high and low for a good car as nearing 10 years old car alot of people will wanna let go the car, knowing Toyota owners usually don't care much about maintenance you'll probably end up with a car that needs alot of items to be replaced, e.g. major aircond service including belts, bearings may be at the end of life cycle, rubber seals all getting perished, etc. all the usual stuff but mechanically its a solid car with engine and gearbox parts similar lineage to the current models so don't need to worry about replacements for those.

2005 Ford Focus 1.8 Sedan - when new its double the price, you can get it cheaper now, although the old idea of fords being high in depreciation is true but that is slowly changing now especially with the Fiesta being so common. this car is quite good even has rear aircond vents. servicing and maintenance shouldn't be an issue since Ford is owned by Sime Darby now the company won't go bust anytime soon.

2006 Citroen C4 - a great car for a bargain price, but don't touch rare conti's like this if you're not ready to be more hands on with this car. requires owners to know a little bit more on cars and send them to specialist workshops, or face skyhigh prices at service centers. right now Citroen prices are dropping like a rock since the authorize distributor Brookelands is no more.

2006 Skoda Superb 1.8 Turbo - this is my top pick for you, it is a huge car for a small budget. Skoda's are under the VW group so it shares alot of common parts with Volkswagen & Audi. This car is basically the same as the previous generation of VW Passats / Audi A5 without the Twincharger engines and DSG gearboxes, that isn't to say it isn't a good car its still a great car. IMHO one of the best kept secrets in the market.

*
I'm in the opinion the car isn't too bad but you've gotta think that since it is 2013 now the car is already 10 years old. Alot of major parts need to be replaced when the car comes to this age, that is if it is maintained properly if it isn't there are parts which are supposed to be changed but being needed to be changed as well.

I'm guessing you're looking to upgrade to a bigger family sedan from your BLM, I think there are other possibilities.

2004 Skoda Octavia 1.6 - it isn't a D segment car like the Cefiro but the space isn't that much smaller since it is a C segment car, the 1.6 MPI engine you might think its old and useless but its the same engine being used in the VW Polo Sedan and that cost RM90k new, this will only cost you RM18k, which is cheap enough you can still afford to keep your BLM! icon_idea.gif

Want to use the car for long term. My family owned all brand car above except Kia, so I don't really know about Kia maintenance and performance but I do like the Forte design and features. Still survey and thinking about it. Any suggestion or comment are most welcomed.
*
Personally, I've never tested or researched much about the Forte but seeing many people have positive feedback about this car it should be worth a look?
Usually the service center will know how much each service interval cost for all their models.

If you're looking for safety then the only choice within your price range and criteria of new car is the Honda Jazz Hybrid CBU (6 airbags + 5/5 stars), though I don't know if they still selling it since they were clearing stocks last month better rush out to look for it!

I'm guessing with that budget you're mostly looking at P1/P2 cars.
If thats the case its either going to be:

Saga BLM : medium spec
Myvi : medium spec
Persona : basic spec

Though if you have abit more budget do consider Mitsubishi Mirage ( RM 55k )

Added on January 3, 2013, 4:36 pmWas looking through some adverts today and thought I'd share some of the things that pop out at me.

Mitsubishi Lancer Turbo - kesian this car, nice 1.6GLX converted without taste into something that looks horrible.

2009 Pug 308 Turbo - a good car, cheap, not old and low mileage. usually there is a catch, maybe the car was in an accident, owner cannot afford to maintain, owner migrating, etc. Its best to see the car and have a test before deciding.

2011 Honda Insight - just one year and the car depreciated so much, thats a the bad thing about typical Malaysian mentality even the mighty Honda/Toyota hybrids don't have very good resale value at the moment. I'm sure that after a while everyone will get used to the idea of hybrids and the perception of their poor reliability being squashed. But until then its a good market for second hand buyers.

2005 BMW 318CI - a nice little sports car wannabe, its only fault is having an automatic gearbox which is a pro/con depending on the buyer. But for the poser in us that want a nice car, sports car look but the ease of driving around with an automatic its a good choice. When you really want a spirited drive sometimes its good for that the chassis is good, its a BMW afterall.

2004 MG Rover 75 Diesel - a luxury car below RM50k, very unbelievable? Yeap. But it is actually not unbelievable since this is a diesel car. Our local diesel quality is Euro 2 only while these cars were made for higher grade diesel like Euro 4/5, our neighbor Singapore has this standard of fuel so their diesel cars are frugal and clean. Ours will just blow our black smoke. If you can find a good workshop or specialist for this car I think its a good bargain. I think a better one would be the petrol version like this one.

2003 Mitsubishi VR4 - this is the legend! very rare to find this car in the market, especially the newer ones and without crazy modifications. Although its a 10 year old car the looks haven't dated much. Much better looking sports sedan to any Camry or Accord. The penalty would be parts issue, being rare means parts are not freely available for everything but should have alot of common parts which can be used from Mitsubishi Lancers and even some Proton models.

2009 Ford Focus - any focus is a bargain buy, its a very good car but depreciates like a rock, so if you're looking for a good C segment car which is powerful, well tuned chassis, and well equipped look no further. At RM60k its a steal. Once it depreciates to about RM40-50k it slows down so you won't lose alot of money buying it second hand.

2004 BMW 325i - this isn't the plain vanilla 3 series its the better 325i version and M-Sport too, but don't be confused with the M Power series, those are really expensive and owners won't sell them cheaply if you can find them on the market. The M-Sport variants of the 325 usually means some better accessories like nicer sports rim and multi-function steering. All-in-all still a good car for the price.

2005 MG Rover TF 120 - paddle shift: check, foldable roof: check, couple: check. has all the requirements to be a nice little sports car. Lets be honest conti sports cars like this aren't meant to be driven on the track of speeding around town with a loud sports exhaust, they're meant to be seen in. Driving smoothly to places like Clubbing spots at Jalan P.Ramlee, Pavillion Vallet parking, etc. with the roof down. For that function this car works very well has enough class to pull that off and not being too expensive to begin with BUT majorly need to find specialist workshops that can maintain it else its going to rot.

2005 BMW X3 - IMHO the ugliest of the X series, but its cheap entry point for someone whom wants a BMW SUV.

2004 Ssangyong Chairman - some will look at you differently when driving this, some think you're cheap for buying a cheap made in Korea old technology Mercedes knock-off, some will think you got yourself a bargain luxury car. Whichever the case we can't always please anyone but ourselves and more importantly is enjoying the car and have money in our pocket. This car is as luxurious as a Mercedes with the price of a Korean car, but maintenance parts of a Proton since old Merc parts are cheap...hooray for old tech merc! Best part is not too old so still can get loan.

2007 Merc A170 - realistically if you want a real Merc that won't burn your pocket this is a good entry point. Looks like a Myvi at first glance but in reality its size is much bigger and comfortable. Eventhough it is small it is still a Merc, it is not intended to be a cheap Merc. The target market for this was Merc customers that expect the same quality and refinement of Mercs but in a city car size.

Don't think with that budget can grab anything new with car prices of 2013.
Though don't fret there are many good guys in the used car market.

2010 Proton Iswara - if this is true then its a good deal which you should check out, but i think this type of Iswara no longer being sold in 2010 so maybe its a typo mistake when they did the advert.

Around this price range you'll find mostly are Kancil 660 and Iswara's. Find the one you like which is the youngest and least mileage then see the dealer.

Sounds like you need a family car with decent size, comfort and power.

2007 Nissan Sentra - Cars like this are quite ideal, they're not awfully expensive and quite young. Best of all being a common car like Nissan Sentra you can probably get it serviced at any workshop plus parts are readily available and quite cheap. If the look is boring you can always look for Nismo Edition.

2005 Mit Lancer - This is the generation before the current Lancer that shares the same look as Proton Inspira. A decent enough car and the best part is nobody is going to say you're driving a Proton, though they are some cross over components.

2005 Nissan Cefiro - This is the basic Cefiro 2.0 not the 3.0 V6, don't let the engine size fool you. It is still a big comfortable D segment car. Like the Sentra its a common car which makes for cheaper parts and workshop availability.

2004 Saab 9-3 Turbo - Alot of car for not alot of money. Powerful, comfortable, refined, everything you want. Though the catch is maintenance. You need to find specialist workshops that can support a conti car else you'll face alot of headaches and large fees. Yes, this brand is dead since the parent company went bust but there are enough spare parts in the market for the lifecycle of this car, even for the next 10-20 years.

Although end of the day if you want a new car the safe bet is getting either Myvi/Saga/Persona.

Thanks for the links and recommendation... very well thru guidelines...

I never thought that i can get Mit Lancer with this price, i always wonder about Mit car (not replicate tho).

The only concern, there is a lot of bad rumor about 2nd Car.
And this is my 1st car, so other than the Accident Free, Engine & Gearbox Check & Test Drive.
Anything else i need to check ?
*
Well firstly see the condition of the car inside and outside.
Look from the front/back see if it is straight or not, if got major accident won't be 100% straight.
Open up the door rubber see any non-oem welding joints.
Open up the boot carpet see any non-oem welding joints.
On the engine let it idle while you chat with the salesman notice any funny sound or a smooth engine, remember on the aircond.
Then take it for a drive to feel/gear the gearbox.

Better if you got a friend good with cars to go with you, doubt any mechanic of yours would be free to go with you.

Remember get the owners manual and car card to see.
Owners manual to see where its been serviced, no manual then be suspicious of the mileage if its too low to be true.
Car card if the car in a major accident then welded back together sure got amended here or any updates have a look.

Thank you so much zenix for your recommendation, I would certainly look out for next year end discount for mirage.
Just wondering about something about second hand car after i go through a lot of your suggestion from mudah such as the 07 City with about ~90k mileage and priced at ~40k, I feel that this is truly a great bargain and it is within my budget. So, if compared with a brand new Myvi, which is almost the same price range for the most basic line, is it better to take this 07 City than a brand new Myvi?
*
Yes! the car is very good and isn't that old yet.
However, do make sure that the CVT is well taken care off.
Look through service records if its been always serviced at Honda and test the CVT.
The engine is pretty though so no worries about it.
Its alot more safer than a myvi.
My current ride is also a 07 city vtec 95k mileage now, might put it on the market later this year laugh.gif

5. Transmission: Auto
6. NA or FI : City use.
7. Type: 4 seater
8. Remarks: Prefer sedan. Comfortable leg and head room, good FC. No proton cars and perodua. Hope you can help my dilemma
If I make it below 70k. Not older than 5yrs. Are there any?
*
2009 Hyundai Elantra X20 - taking away brand image this is actually a pretty decent car, its got 2000cc and it isn't very heavy so FC should be fine, comes with leather seats, mileage low, car isn't very old plus it comes with a nice bodykit. in malaysia cannot run away from brand issues, although its the cheapest in this round up its going to depreciate the fastest and spare parts price and availability an issue since this is considered a rare car on the road.

2010 Nissan Sentra - best thing about this car is its almost a new car with very low mileage and has the most updated facelift look and bodykit, while under the hood its still the ancient engine used in this model of sentra since it went on the market many years ago that doesn't mean its no good. if you're okay with the looks this car is good because its a frugal car both in terms of petrol consumption and maintenance.

2009 Pug 308 Turbo - okay this is not a sedan but its a hot car worth a second look. this is the one with the panoramic roof and turbo. its not a crazy fast turbo like the ones in an Evo but its not to say under powered, it will feel very powerful indeed, its a beautiful car which can still overtake other cars of similar class with ease. a major drawback of this car is maintenance, it needs that special TLC all conti's need.

2008 Nissan Sylphy - this should be something you're looking for a good c-segment car at an affordable price. new nissans all run on CVT which are better at FC. this particular car is very low mileage and is well equipped. not just for city use, this car is good enough to go outstation in with your family.

2008 Toyota Altis 1.8 - looking around the market an Altis 1.6 Gspec and Altis 1.8 espec are about the same price, well the spec usually means extra accessories that usually mean nothing, what matters is having a better engine and the 1.8 this advert has is a guarantee you're not going to suffer in an underpowered car. Althis like this are being traded in at lower price because these use the normal 4 speed automatic gearboxes while the newer ones all use CVT, well gearbox aside you still get a good c-segment car.

I'm quite interested with this car actually. I'm currently looking for a sedan car but having quite a hard time as my budget is quite limited, (which limits my choices only for P1 which I do not prefer). 2005 car, now already 2013. what can I expect about the maintenance? any major one that can costs up to thousands?
*
Mitsubishi cars relatively safe to buy, they share alot of commonality with Proton.
This particular model came around the time where Proton stop re-badging Mitsubishi cars and try to do their own cars which created the Waja, Gen2, Persona.
Campro engine is Proton's own but alot of the chassis and supporting technology came from Mitsubishi.
Yes, its sort of getting old since it is a 2005 car, why not consider something newer within your budget?

2007 Mitsubishi Lancer - younger, low mileage, limited edition, so faster call the seller rclxms.gif

went to a showroom n they suggest me a discounted car as of 2012 model
but kinda unhappy when in the paper they stated it as "less demo support"
does it mean tht the car is a demo set?
*
its quite common to sell showroom car (car sit in showroom no move), test drive car (car sit in showroom or used as test drive).
some of the smaller dealers don't have money to have cars just sit in the showroom it has to be also a test drive car.
some of the larger dealers or direct company register many cars for their roadshow or hitting target set by company principle then discount it for consumers, these cars relatively untouched and considered new.

2007 Honda Accord - its within your budget, however i think there is something wrong with this car. it is not the 2007 model and its too cheap to be true, however you can always ring them up to clarify.

2003 Toyota Altis 1.8 - this should be about right.very good car going for a very cheap price, the catch? its 10 years old. however you can still manage to buy it with a loan which helps ease your cash flow, don't need to opt for full loan with 0% downpayment not worth it, spread it to like 2-4 years loan of 25k should be good. maintained properly it can last you another 7-9 years before it really rots.

2005 Chevy Optra 5 its a hatch not sedan, its a korean built car with american brand not japanese, however, its something decent enough if you're looking for something younger but i think the altis above is a much better buy.

2007 Smart ForFour - if you can stretch your budget to 40 then consider this car, its german build quality since this brand is under Mercedes group of companies. 5 star safety and good fc. maintenance might be abit more than you can handle though since it is after all a german b-segment car can expect spares to be in the japanese c-segment pricing. do think it over.

b.) Road tax won't cause a bomb in my pocket.
Cheers.
*
2007 Toyota Celica - when buying this model of celica there are two major models the ones with VVT-i engines and the ones with VVTL-i engines. the ones with VVTL-i are more powerful and better, however more expensive and people won't sell until its really old. this advert is for the normal VVT-i model. its not going to win you many races but it does have decent looks and still a chic magnet. probably the easiest and cheapest to maintain of this round up.

2005 Smart Roadster - if you're looking for uniqueness and rareness this car will definitely be the one you're looking for. power-wise it has a good power to weight ratio but then again its not a hardcore sports car so don't expect to be fighting in the same league as Nissan Skylines and Silvia's. then again its a gentleman's car and you won't look bad going to the office, clubbing or going to track days with it, its an all round car. maintenance cost is another issue, you need to bring it to specialist and parts aren't cheap because of its low numbers.

2008 Mazda RX8 - this is a japan import mazdaspeed version, so that means no ron95 it requires a minimum of ron97, feed it vpower it will only be happy. It has the looks and performance, however its notorious for being a fuel guzzler and money pit when it comes to maintenance. its not an easy path for rotary heaven.

2008 Mini Cooper - this is a special monte carlo edition if you fancy that sort of thing, other than that its just another mini. good power to weight ratio, good looks and maintenance wise well expect the usual with any conti experience, parts aren't always cheap and servicing must be done by specialist.

2007 VW Bug - this isn't the latest model so it doesn't have a fancy turbo/twincharger engine and it doesn't have that new look, well looks is quite relative. if they don't know how to see the difference between the old and new you can always fool them since the look isn't really a whole lot different. however, you cannot cheat yourself would you want this model since the new one is out now and its such a hot thing?

now its 2013, as long as the car isn't older than 2003 you can get loan for it.
spectra pretty simple car the worry is that not many people import parts for this car which would make it expensive, at the moment its still very affordable.
and many such cars still on the road so don't worry.

5. Transmission : Auto/Manual
6. NA or FI :
7. Type : any

2007 Mitsubishi Lancer - younger, low mileage, limited edition, so faster call the seller rclxms.gif

2007 Smart ForFour - its german build quality since this brand is under Mercedes group of companies. 5 star safety and good fc. like with all conti's its not easy to find places to service it so do look out in the forums for specialist in your area before you commit to a certain brand of conti because specialist conti workshops are specialist they don't work on all conti brands.

2007 Nissan Sentra - oh yea this is an uncle car but it has that nismo body and sweet 1.8 engine so its got abit of performance in it. You should consider this if FC and cheap maintenance is important.

2006 Toyota Altis - nothing much to complain about cars like this 1800cc and full spec means you just need to add some bodykits so it doesn't look so uncle. You should consider this if FC and cheap maintenance is important.

2006 Honda Civic ES - this wasn't the most popular Civic then because it had alot to live up to after the Civic EK. If you had to pay full price of rm130k for this you'd expect alot but since its 2013 now and its a cheap used car you can lower your standards. Granted all its faults end of the day its still a good looking Honda Civic and as with all Honda its cheap on the wallet. If you need something more hardcore you should look at the Civic RS

2006 Volvo S40 - if you want it all you've gotta pay and the only part where this car will disappoint you is when you bring it for servicing every 10k kms. at specialist workshops prices are relatively cheap for usual maintenance and service items but bigger things like absorbers, mounting, aircond breaks down the bill is going to hurt but thats not going to happen everyday, what happens everyday is the grin on your face when you whack this 2.4 monster down the road the only cars you shouldn't try to bully on the road are sports cars like Evolutions, Skylines and Integra's brows.gif

2007 Ford Focus - in either hatch or sedan form this is a bargain car. good handling, good looks and decent FC make this a good choice, the best of the range is the Focus RS but its such a good car not many are being sold on the market.

2006 Honda Accord CF4 - this is the end of your search because this is the car that fits all your requirements, power, looks, and affordability. Its a rarely import only Honda but many workshops are able to support this car. Expect to pay for parts as an Accord owner, granted its cheap japanese parts but don't expect it to be as cheap as say a Vios.

Age: 2001 till now
CC: 2.4k
Price: RM38.8k
Is it wise to get conti car in malaysia? Spare parts wise and how much the maintenance cost for this car? Thanks in advance.

because the owner knows they can't sell it for higher price because generally malaysians are afraid to buy conti's because fear of maintenance, and also its a 2001 car so cannot do loan, cash buyer 38k also quite high. anyone can buy 38k cash would consider something better.

2007 Ford Mondeo - if you like big conti's you should consider this car, its not a dinosaur like a 2001 audi you can still even get a loan for it. its size is comparable to the A6. it has a better newer 2000cc engine than the older one in the audi, savings on roadtax. looks, it still gives you that executive look its rare so people don't really know if its new or old if you keep it nice and clean....best of all it isn't a merc/bmw/audi so car thief's and robbers won't target you.

Thanks for Master Zenix comment.

But Celica doesnt seems delicious to me.

What u think about cars below:

Those aren't exactly coupes which you mentioned earlier but lets discuss about them.

2005 Audi A4 1.8T - Thats the older B6 model for Audi A4. This is the newer 2006 Audi A4 B7 the current generation being sold by Audi is the B8. Whats the big difference between these two models? Well one is turbo and another isn't. Of course the potential power output for the 1.8T after tuning should be much more than the 2.0 na, however it isn't in the same league as the turbo's being used in the current range of VW and Audi. Infact if you want something like this but cheaper you can even look at 2005 Skoda Octavia 1.8T same tech but much cheaper.

2005 BMW 1-Series 118i - Its basically a BMW 318 hatchback, IMHO it kinda ugly and its RM88k! A better and cheaper option would be 2006 BMW 318ci it is a year younger but IMHO as with the 118 it isn't a powerhouse performer. For the real power hungry BMW fan the BMW 325ci this is the top of the line double vanos 6 cylinder magnesium engine which will put you in the same performance league as Nissan Skyline GTR, Honda Integra/Civic Type-R, etc. its a BMW its going to be safe as well its rated 5 stars for NCAP which I don't think the Japanese equivalents will offer.

2005 Land Rover Freelander 2.5 (A) - I really don't see the benefit of this car, people normally buy Rovers because of its size and prestige, this one is smaller and doesn't give the same prestige as a Discovery. A good priced luxury SUV should be something like 2007 Nissan Murano. It isn't the standard boring SUV like Toyota Rush, Nissan X-Trail, Ssangyong Rexton, Honda CRV, etc. The Murano is marketed as the Nissan equivalent to Lexus/Toyota Harrier so it has ample prestige. The Murano offers itself as something different and rare on the road and its alot newer and updated looking than ancient looking Freelander.

2006 Volvo S60 - The S60 is larger and targetted more for uncles I think what you should be looking for are the 2005 Volvo S40 Sport Edition, they come with all the hot bits already installed in the car, it doesn't have a turbo but then again the turbo in the S60 T5 isn't a performance turbo it isn't going to gun down even a lowly BMW 118. Something which provides luxury and performance can be had in the 2006 Impul Skyline, this is the Impul version of the Nissan car which means its the JDM version only having 2.5 engine while the export models are all 3.5 engine. Performance difference isn't alot since the 3.5 engine is intended for countries with very strict emission laws.

2009 Merc C200K - another luxury coupe. its purpose is enjoying refinement and cruising at highspeed, it won't have the low end grunt to do traffic light drag racing with other lighter Japanese coupes except for shampoo girl cars like Toyota Celica, Toyota Sera, etc.

2006 Nissan Skyline GTR - when it comes to power this car has it in spades, maintenance is relatively easy since its a Japanese car but you gotta be prepared to pay for performance car price for parts. The biggest downside to cars like this is that its very hot, robbers and thiefs will always target owners of cars like this. Another issue is this car was manufactured in 2000 and registered in 2005, not too sure you can still get a loan for this car - its old!

2006 Toyota MRS - a more serious sports car from Toyota, shares alot of commonality with the Celica of the same generation so can say alot of parts are cheap but this car is meant for some decent performance being lighter, it also looks a hell lot of better than the Celica.
