nope, its the design of it,
you can consider inspiron 13z, similar spec with ul30a but comes with dvd drive.

although you can consider external dvd burner, should be around rm 200++

well, if you can stretch a little more money, there's dell inspiron 14 at rm 1499, as well superb warranty from dell biggrin.gif
else for netbook, just choose the design you like, though I doubt you can find 100% keyboard size.

you can consider asus k40ab (amd rm-75) or acer 4740g (i5 430m + g310m)

well, 5740g has better cpu and better gpu, which is one level above than 4740g.
well, the more value one is benq s42 and benq s57 provided if you can locate them.
they will give better gaming performance than those acer.
but if can't find them, with 3k, consider either dell studio 15, acer 5740g, toshiba L510-S4318B
though between those, 5740g offer more in term of cpu, those three have similar gpu performance.

if budget allow, please do so.
extending warranty after you bought it or out of warranty is much much more expensive.

well, if you can take good care of it, I don't think warranty would be needed in first place.

vaio SR, if can wait, the new upcoming vaio S

if 1.3ghz processor is alright, consider Asus UL30VT, its weight at 1.7kg and have around 8 hours battery life, under rm 3k

just make sure the seal on the box is still sealed when you buy it, then make sure the accessories is there like the cd, battery, adaptor, mouse (iinm).
and also make sure the spec is the same with the one you are going to buy.
then don't forget to register the warranty online.

router would do.

should be sufficient, just need patient on the photo editing...
thought with that price point, can consider acer 1810T as well, it got faster cpu though less powerful gpu, which in your case not much different.

ram nowadays is still expensive, around rm 150 for 2gb a piece... eithe ddr2 or ddr3
2gb is sufficient usually

do note that hp mini 311 got 1gb ram soldered on mobo and one free slot ram, hence, max at 3gb ram.

nope, 9300m gs not that good,
nvidia 9300m gs has been renamed to nvidia g105m
to fight with ati hd4570 on k50ab, you need at least nvidia g210m
well, if you need more power on cpu, can consider lenovo g450, t6600 with g210m, though gpu wise, k50ab > g450, not much though
but you can gain more battery life with g450.
both at rm 1999,
