hi all, im facing problem regarding overriding fan speed via USB power.
The problem is the cord which attached to the +5V supply loose frequently eventhough i had put some celotape to secure the position of the cord.
any other idea to attach the cord correctly ? T_T
im also curious on how najmods attached his cord...it seems that the cord is forced into, touching the small metal plate and stuck inside so that it wont loose easily ?
i've opened up my backpanel for more than 4times in a day....HELP ! najmods
*
I just put the cable only just touching the USB slot inside, and I wedge the wires in between the two 100uF capacitor near there without any tape. The cable I use is pretty sturdy and won't go out of shape after I shaped it that way. Just don't force it too far inside the USB slot or it might short with other pins and might create problem when you plug something into it

First of all, Athlon QL65 is not the latest processor for k40/50ab
Turion RM-75 is da one.. with 2.2Ghz

Well.. performance on both lappys are the same.. it just depends on the size u want, the numpad? portability?

There's a slight guide in the first few posts comparing both k40 and k50.

I feel very heavy using Photoshop & Illustrator CS4. But the cpu usage is just about 40% and memory about 60%. (2GB overall).

Playing Modern Warfare 2 feel smoother than using Creative Suite 4.  sweat.gif

Need i7 power I think.  shakehead.gif

Yeah some programs really needs more CPU headroom, I get the feeling that I wanted to buy Turion Ultra ZM-84 (2.3GHz 2MB L2 cache) at eBay but I don't know whether it is worth it or not unsure.gif What do you think?

Hmm.. not much difference in performance right based on benchmark data. How if you just wait for K42/52. That might be the upgrade you're looking for.

But if you got some extra cash to spend, why not buy the cpu and mod it to unlock its full potential?

Hmm.. the CPU I gonna buy is Engineering Sample, which means its an unlocked CPU and probably I could overclocked it simply with k10stat. But there are few thins I worried; one is its from eBay, 2nd is I don't know the CPU support, it say it does support ZM-84 but ASUS representative refused to provide any info on CPU support, most of all, I don't think AMD mobile CPU have much headroom in overclocking since the highest barely reach 2.5GHz sweat.gif

I have some other plans to increase its responsiveness (change to 7200rpm disks and low latency DDR2 memory) but I think its not worth it. Sigh, I like this laptop but there are not much headroom for upgrading.

SSD if bloody expensive. The low end one is not that good with random read/write. Until SSD price is reasonable enough with reasonable capacity, I would never consider SSD as my next harddrive upgrade. I rather cut my left leg, beat myself to death with it before I bought SSD.

Hi, I'm back with some personal gaming review ^^

DiRT 2 - Awesome (1280x768 Med-High) - FRAPS : 30-50 FPS (seriously this is a nice game lol)

Battlefield 2: Bad Company - Ouch (1280x768 Low) - FRAPS : 17-25 FPS[during busy time with explosions, FPS might drop as low as to 5, yes, FIVE] (very very unhealthy for our machine, totally different from COD4 MW2)

Heroes of Newerth - Awesome (1280x768 High) - FRAPS : 30-60 FPS

*again, reminder for new users in this thread, this is on a virgin K40AB, unmodded unclocked smile.gif

-----

That aside, my LCD is starting to give me problems already, can anyone rectify this? it blinks at random time, greyish color..sometimes it appears as grey/white color blank on the screen where my only solution is to close the LCD lid and open it back up, then it goes back to normal. At times it occurs multiple times like disco light...

and i wanna give the 10.3 a try, thanks for the dude who posted the dl link..hopefully it fixes something smile.gif

ok thank you!

been using for 4 months now, never heating issues occured, in fact, the laptop is so cold to me -.-...all the heats go out through the backside vent...unlike my previous laptop, u can feel hot at the mousepad area, palm rest area, sometimes on the keyboard, but my k40ab, never hot even a lil bit...jz like the sticker pasted on the palm rest (25% cooler than body temperature) lol, i tot it was a hoax, but its true actually =x
