Hmm, that is a good way of finding bottleneck in a system. I assume you use RivaTuner to monitor GPU load? I'll test on the game I play and see whether its GPU or CPU limited. If its CPU limited I might as well buy Turion Ultra, as this is not an ordinary Turion Ultra...

No i monitor GPU load with GPU-Z 0.3.8 and CPU load with the provided windows tool.

Note that it will depend on the game you're playing. I think you should be CPU limited in game like Colin Mcrae Dirt, Assassin's Creed or GTA IV because i am and i have a turion RM-74 (2,2ghz) which is normally a little bit faster than your CPU.




But is the game playable with 35-50 FPS???

I mean if you don't have 60 fps ( or 50 if it's pal version ), the game won't be as fast as the original game.

For temperature 85-90 is ok for graphic card (you can reach 100°C) but start to be a little bit high for your CPU.


PS : I'm wondering, what's the difference between RM-74 and RM-75?

Hummm i wasn't thinking that the graphic card could limit the fps during emulation...

1. Cool laptop does not depend on its brand.. it depends on whats inside a laptop.. ASUS has good ventilation design and design that does not make u feel hot with ur palm on the palm rest.. it does not mean its not hot.. its just that u wont feel it.. other laptop brands has a design that u would feel hot on the palm rest area..

2. that asus's system.. not for us to know.. hahaa.. but for k40/50ab.. the heat is dissipated at the rear end of laptop.. which u wont be touching it..

3. which brand cooler?? lolz.. u shud ask.. what specs of lappy is cooler.. well.. ASUS just does make u feel hot.

i just installed windows 7 32bit on my K50AB, but i am now facing little problems with my Fn key.

most of the Fn keys work (volume & lcd brightness), except for the wireless (Fn + F2) and camera (Fn + V).

i have tried to reinstall the ATK, camera and also the wireless drivers from AsusTek website but still cannot make them work.

can anyone lend a hand??

u need to install the virtual camera,wireless console,camera driver...get it from asus website

so slow when open multiples tabs in firefox.

I dont face such problems, sometimes up to 20-30 tabs at once. I just install 3 extension, tab mix plus, adblock plus, and downloadhelper

Maybe he complain about screamyx slow.

Anyway I read that CCC 10.01 will support mobility cards if the laptop manufacturers allows it. (I guess that's a no from Asus).
Guess we will know in few days when its official.

Mobility modder is there if it doesn't. I still use the ASUS driver since I run PowerXpress mode. I could get 2 hours 30 minutes of surfing time if I set it to minimum brightness.

I plan to buy new laptop for more battery life, maybe with Intel SU ULV series CPU. The UL30XX looks good, so does Alienware M11x but its boils down to either bigger display or much faster graphics card

My sister will be using my k40 after this, so I revert everything to stock except for fanmods. Even with back closed it runs at cool 50C in idle There is an intake hole at the top of the wireless card but because this hole indirectly provide airflow for the CPU HSF its rather ineffective even if you use notebook cooler

I've been eyeing on a 1810tz as my mobility lappy.. but the price is just very high..

im hoping to get benq s42.. heard it can reach around 4 hours on its GMA4500.. shud be true eh?? but drivers are problem for the lappy.. haha
