paying upfront for a phone doesnt work as well in malaysia as it does in the States since everyone here is getting it at about the same time once its available. if they can have stock by a few months or weeks earlier, i dont mind.
*
Yeah, that's the thing that bugs me also, but then, the rumoured retail price for HD2 is 3.3-3.4k .. a friend of mine called up HTC malaysia, they said the price would be 3.4k or so.. So you save about 400RM...

Ya.. really a lot of uncertainties.. hmmm maybe i'll drop by the shop later to ask for more details. I'm not sure if the employees there know much about this either. Few days ago i called them they were quite clueless.

well i had a few personal encounters at gadza, can't say they're offering class A service.. but then, i don't really care much about the service, just give me the phone and make sure my warranty works.. heh

Btw, i just went to QBM to pay the deposit.. Else i'll just keep thinking to myself.. to pay or not to pay.. (already had few sleepless nights because of this...)

I found out that Gadzaworld and YQC technology are the same company or related some how.

yeapch is from YQC technology. i guess he's the owner of gadza too.

Last time got once I send my phone to SIS because it kept misallign, then few days later they call me up and said my screen is scratched. Told me if want to fix need to change the touch screen and cost more than 800.

I've been using screen protector since the 1st day, so frustrated. Then they say if want proof they can disasemble the phone and show me because they said is at the side underneath the housing. Fed up I walkaway then have to go purchase another screen protector.
*
at least we don't need to worry about screen being scratched for HD2 tongue.gif

if you are a nokia fan, i have good news to tell you : nokia (or nokia associates) is working hard on their interface.

here's a preview: http://www.allaboutsymbian.com/news/item/1...terface_loo.php

Here's a summary of price guesses i pulled from the earlier pages:
ineser - 3.3
Sylpheed - 3.299
cruzzmz -3.2
[+] - 3.0
Darkmage12 - 2.999
nghj - 2.7
~Rogue~ - 2.6

looks like i'm looking over-optimistic here..  sad.gif
*
Bumping up an old quote..

looks like darkmage has the closest number..

hi All

Just FYI, i paid deposit 300 to Yeap for the HD2 when he offered the price for HD2 at 3088, just now i just emailed him and he said he'll reduce my 3088 to 2888 accordingly smile.gif

Meaning now i only need to pay 2588 smile.gif

If you're from penang, i'd recommend just getting from him smile.gif

lol, everyone is crazy about the big capacitive screen that they dont care even if the camera is bad or got sms problems.

I'm not that much of a gamer myself.. not on my hp at least..

but i'd love to use the big screen to surf some web and listen to music and video though, that's good enough for me.. it's all about the big... big... BIG.. screen...

Could be OS could be others too...

Best is we just have to live with it till xda starts cooking good roms out. It'll take them awhile i guess..

So far i've heard the issues are

1. SMS problem (maybe fixable through new Rom or patch)
2. Camera red lens problem (probably a hardware issue.. probably gotta use warranty)
3. 3D engine problem.. something about the benchmark for video / 3d stuff.. probably will be fixed with new driver later or so..

So, do remember to check your phones when you get it.

Well my fren has a HD2 now but he hasn't got so much problem yet.

1. Pinch-to-zoom / Multitouch doesnt only work in Opera and Sense, it works in PDF viewing, Microsoft office mobile, Remote Desktop Mobile and loads more. They even made a software to enable the multi touch in the whole device.

2. Too many SMS, i used my friend's iPhone and i gotta wait for about 3 - 4 seconds for his sms to show up from a blank screen.

3. Screen sensitivity, well if that's a problem then i think we should be sticking with resistive touch screen.. Anyway, there's another cab file which reduces the sensitivity of the screen.

4. The faulty Volume Up Button is caused by hardware failure that's why we MUST need a warranty and check properly you buying your device.

5. Bad camera, get a digital camera?

Overall Review: http://pocketnow.com/review/htc-hd2
screen sensitivity : http://pocketnow.com/tweaks-hacks/hd2-capa...n-too-sensitive
Pinch-to-Zoom: http://pocketnow.com/software-1/htc-hd2-re...-desktop-mobile
http://pocketnow.com/software-1/get-pinch-...here-on-the-hd2
*
of all the problems here..

1. Pinch to Zoom, this will take awhile before windows / Roms will let us do so, it's not really a bug or issue, but more like a feature that's not in yet.
2. Too many sms.. as long as the sms gets sent, then it's no problem, but if it doesn't then that's another story. From what i heard people's SMS gets stuck at the out going queue. Then you gotta reset to get it sent. I think after awhile, someone will come up with some tweak / rom to fix this. Remember, most people (no matter where you are or what service) most likely they're all using the default HTC rom. Maybe the later Roms will fix this problem. (gotta continue to monitor the thread at xda)

3. this is very very subjective, gotta try it out myself to know.. maybe that person who complained about it isn't use to a capacitive screen?

4. This one we must try it out, it's not every unit, but if you get it, make sure you claim warranty

5. Of all the problems, i think this is the worst one, though it's not a breaking issue, but it's certainly an annoyance.. i'm not even sure we can claim warranty for this one when it comes out, just have to try and see i guess..

according to YEap and the other guy, both saying next week. But i think best bet is during PC Fair.

As for the number of hours yes.. 8 hrs for all those stuff is excellent. Mine.. (probably also because an old battery) only last 30mins for video ALONE... very said..

i thank you on behalf of everyone in the lyn HD2 thread for being the official guinea pig. jk..

everyone is hoping that most of this bugs are just software and rom related which can be solved with fixes and updates.
but over a xda, people have now received replies from htc that the camera with pink center is a hardware problem and have to be exchanged.
hopefully that it doesnt take much time and effort to do an exchange.

i'm just hoping our batch of HD2 phones already have this fixed tongue.gif so we don't need to use the warranty smile.gif

Ok to quote from a previous user..

here's a handful of it.

Immediate Check List
1. Volume Up button not working (hardware issue?? can it be adjusted by software?)
2. Keyboard Lag (hardware issue?? can it be adjusted by software?)
3. Screen too sensitive (hardware issue?? can it be adjusted by software?)
4. Camera Photo Red Color Tint (hardware issue)
5. Dust in screen (hardware issue)

Pending Check list
1. Missing SMS
2. Missing Weeks in calendar ? (i think this one can be fixed by rom though)

Hardware issues are those that we've gotta return and ask HTC to fix.. those that can be fixed by software maybe can be fixed through different ROms and radios and such.

Feel free to add the list.

think you should put a note that screen sensitivity depends on user preference and not everyone will have this problem.
sensitiivity can be reduced by installing a cab from xda.

another prob is lag from opening too many threaded SMSes (maybe have to wait for ROM fix or you just delete most of ur sms)

if you go thru the list, you will find one person from Taiwan (the only one in the list).

Nara-e-Mastana..........Nov 20 from taiwan (HTC) OS: 5.2.21864 (21864.5.0.81) ROM: 1.43.488.1 (70124) WWE WM6.5

(s)he does not have that problem. does that represent the non-western countries batch? stay tuned...
*
Yes that could potentially be good to us, because the western batch is the 1st batch (those launched in Euro and such)

Let's cross our fingers i guess smile.gif

HTC has now made a U-turn and said that the camera problem is software related and NOT hardware related

http://www.mobiletechworld.com/2009/11/23/...ftware-related/

Guesses are, that the problem started with the hardware but that would cost them too much to fix them all so HTC is trying to get the software part to help correct the colors.
*
from Xda-developer, it seems that someone with nokia N97 also has the problem. it seems to be a common problem with 5mega pixel phone cameras..
