anyone here upgrade from htc touch hd to hd 2? is it worth the upgrade?. wht make me want to upgrade are because of the processor and memory. almost double touch hd. for hd 2 user, how bad the lagging compared to touch hd? wish to trade in my touch hd. still got 2 months warranty. how much u guys think i can trade with pda -expert?

Many of us here were previous owners of HD. There is no lag with HD2 and it can run several applications at one time with no lag. However capacitive screen is something you have to get use to, other than that there is no other issue.

The only way i know how to check is :

Settings --> Application --> Remove Programs

Look for a file named LEO07664...

Added on January 13, 2010, 12:46 pmAlso...when did you buy it ? If before 18 December that means you dont have the hotfix yet cos it was only released then...

Guys, I found this posted over the youtube... Anyone has similar experience so far?

What I can suggest was try calibrate the screen.

Settings -> Menu -> All Settings -> System -> Screen -> Align Screen.

Other than this suggestion I think you need to RTM.

normally we dont backup our apps... because when you restore them after a hard reset. some apps might not work well.. errors etc etc.. i only backup my contacts using PIM backup.. but there are backups for software like Sprite backup or SPB Backup.

i heard from Pocketnow.com that this Align screen is not meant to align a capacitive screen. because capacitive screens don't need alignment. but i'm not sure about it. he even said that he can't understand why HTC still kept this screen alignment in the settings options rclxub.gif rclxub.gif

use PIM backup.. a very useful software to backup/restore your contacts, messages, appointments etc etc with a few clicks.... most importantly, right from your device

hi guys,

I was reading about the HD2 durability this few days and would like to share some info I've found. If you've gone through the internet and looking at the amount of owners cracking or breaking their HD2 glass is quite a handfull. Ways of getting the screen cracked ranges from putting the phone by the side of the bed and sleeping on top of it, to dropping it on wooden floors, pavements, driveways from waist heights or higher.

Maybe before you purchase the phone you might want to see how's ur phone handling habits?. How often do you drop your phone? If it's 0 times so far in a span of at least 3-5 years then you've a good track record.

For me, I don't usually use any protective plastic casing and all the phones which I've owned before, I've dropped it at least once. Be it using the phone while walking on the stairs and dropping it on the staircase or dropping it on the car whilst using it as a GPS navigator. I've even drop the phone on the floor while clubbing. So I can say in my time of owning a particular phone, I would have dropped it in a range of 3-5 times which is pretty suxxx..

The design flaw of the HD2 is that the glass screen stretches way near to the edges of the phone and any impact onto the edges of the phone if the phone does not fall flat on it's back might prove deadly. Furthermore, the grade of the glass which they are using is not what we want to see from a pricey phone. Companies from LG, Samsung, Motorola are already using high quality grade glass for their forthcoming phones. I do not see HTC in that list sadly to say. For the HD2, if you DO drop it once, you're pretty quite screwed already.

Most of the mobile companies mentioned above is already using the so called 'Gorilla glass' for their touch screen sets. Go youtube on for eg. the Droid from motorola which is using this type of glass. It's really really tough and it should be a standard at least for all phones using capacitive touch screens. Of course the price would be higher by a tiny fraction but hei, it's a small price to pay believe me, when you've really dropped your precious phone and thinking that the gorilla glass actually saved your a$$.

I do hope in future HTC would move along with the majority in equipping their future models of phone with gorilla glass unless their are indirectly wanting you to break your phone out of our daily utter clumsiness and get another phone.

More and more phones today are coming out with a mix of plastic and metal and glass. Some of the models I remembered even is made of titanium ( the old nokia phone). I think the new iphone 4 rumours to be made of titanium as well... To me I don't expect the phone to survive being run over by a car or a truck or dropped from 100ft of up in the air. The only wish is if the phones could get by our daily routines with much of a worry carrying this fragile phone along. ( unless of course your alwiz living on the edge of your seat, base jumping and all tongue.gif ). For me, flexible durable plastic has alwiz been a good choice of phones. ( I remember those SE phones like P800 and P900) There should at least be some sort of material to absorb the impact when the phone is dropped. When the body of the phone becomes more and more solid, the impact in the event of a fall will be transferred into their internal parts, ie. sensors, pcb board, screen/lcd which end of the day spells doom to the handset.

Unless you might be crazy enough by wrapping 2-3 layers of invishield / ghost-armor around your phone, or putting your phone in a spongy helly kitty pouch everytime you use it, you might want to start finding ways to protect your precious.

Best way so far for this phone is to insure it... Not sure if this option is available for Msians or not. Either that, just wait for the phone to drop it's price like hell so you don't have to feel that painfull if you've ever broke it. tongue.gif
